This is from my mom's generation of music...she was born and raised in Japan but I was born and raised in Hawaii. I'm 25 right now but I've always liked older Japanese hits from when I was little. I used to sing these kinds of songs as a little girl at my mom's karaoke bar. Now I love it more than ever.
Great song! I love the Chinese version when I was a kid in the 70's now I love this version as well!! Can someone be kind enough to translate the meaning of the lyrics to English or Chinese? Especially the second verse! I think I really want to sing this one in Japanese, so understanding the meaning is quite portant! Thanks n enjoy the lovely voice of Maekawa Kiyoshi
The english version of this music is called "In Nagasaki today again I met the rainy day",I found the lyric in the web, then i a singing in the karaoke
The lyrics, the melody, his voice, a subtle sadness in his eyes - I just melt when I watch this clip, which is frequent. I heard this song when I was very young, and although I didn't know what the lyrics meant then, it pulled the strings of my heart as it still does now. It makes me feel like I want to reach out and soothe his ache away. Such a beautiful song and such a rare, wonderful Artist. Thanks so much for sharing it.
This song was translated in Chinese in the early 70s and was equally popular. I still missed his early 70s TV version which was no longer available here, anyone knows where to find that video version again?
I don't even know Japanese, but this is one of my favorite & its gotta to be an all time classic. His voice & the Sax just breaks my heart. Will appreciate if someone can translate the lyrics.
This song reminds me of my japanese boyfriend. I was 17 then, and he was 54. He was my first love. I missed him so much...thank you for posting this video.
I think this sad song about Nagasaki is the most beautiful enka song I have ever heard. It got me hooked on enka songs for life. The songs says that even today, Nagasaki is in a rainy mood, a sad reflection on its atomic heritage.
The singer here is infact Maekawa Kiyoshi. Nodoubt abt it!

But this singer appearing in the video isn`t Maekawa Kiyoshi,is Uchiyamada Hiroshi, the original singer of this song
cityhunterbr2006 2 years ago
Uchiyamada is not the lead singer. This singer is Maekawa Kiyoshi, Uchiyamada is in the left corner as back vocal.

I`ve come to like enka a lot, especially songs about my favorite Japanese city, Nagasaki. I`ve been there on a rainy day, and it`s very romantic...

thx for uploading.在NHK-BShi看過前川清先生唱這首從小耳熟能詳的歌,十分仰慕他的丰采!如今得以見識他年輕時的模樣,倒覺得是少見的越「陳」越香......XD

IN NAGASAKI,I MET THE RAINY DAY
You Darling was the Only one that i have ever Loved.
your tender word all i heared that i believed.
Serching. Serching for you all over alone.
i walked around stepping in lonliness down
tha stone pavement.
Ah.Ah.Ah.Ah. in Nagasaki-Today again.
i met the rainy day.
