Actually, I think he is. If I remember right, he is who the character Shuichi Shindo from the yaoi series Gravitation is based on. If you look up a lot of his songs, Spicy Marmalade, Rage Beat, In the moonlight and others, you'll get a huge selection of of Gravitation selections as well. Which makes sense since Shuichi sings a number of his songs in the series.

Kotani Kinya's producer and keyboardist at the time, Daisuke Asakura (my favorite musician in the world), is the one who was in charge of doing all of the music for Gravitation, that's why there is music from many of his bands in the series such as The Seeker and Iceman.
