When my grandfather put up a corner brace or a gate post he always had a wire running top corner of one to the bottom corner of the other and would twist a short stick into the wire to twist it tight and then turn the stick to catch on the cross post so it didnt let of the tension and so it could be tightened later if needed. But then again he had been putting up fences all his life and he was born in 1907 so i'am very sure he knew what he was doing, unlike these people .
