@songsamsung they must be very influenced by T Rex because the opening riff on Hang On from Thirteen sounds almost exactly like 20th Century Boy. Still awesome though
seen them twice at the limelight, belfast. and screamed all the words at them over the barriers because i love them. and prob cried a wee bit too. ah well they are FUCKING GREAT. kisses
@walker44444 what a load of wank. if you have ever been a teenager you should have an idea of all the feelings that this band express. you have tried and failed to insult both nirvana and teenage fan club. go and listen to some shite instead and comment on that. and have a nice life. bye!
just a wonderful song! very dreaming like alot of music from that era, i mean alot of people tell me not to look to the past for great music but i don'tr hear much that sounds as good as this. now there is british sea power, arcade fire, queens of the stone age, i do like those bands, but i do miss this sort of sound.
I nearly destroyed myself jumping up and down to Fanclub at Bowlie 2 but let me tell you it was worth the pain because nobody else there could touch 'em!
I so badly wish that Teenage Fanclub wasn't before my time. As a fifteen year old now, I love hanging out with older people and this kind of culture, and I feel like I majorly missed out on something big. I really wish I could have been around for when you guys were all kids. THis song made me cry the first time I ehard it, just ebcause it was so damned awesome.
@theindiefanclub 'mervyn95' is dead right y'know! I did that exact thing, and missed out on a lot of cool stuff happening when I was young...and I've been kicking myself ever since! It's OK to get into the older stuff, just not at the expense of what's happening in the present!
@comanchio1976 :/ Pity that most of what's happening in the present is orange-coloured tarts getting pregnant prematurely, and people barely learning to read, and leaving school to mooch off the government. I blame rap music!
@theindiefanclub There's always gonna be crap music dominating the mainstream, except for a few golden years...Peter-god-damn-Andre and Take-cocking-That were top of the charts when I was 15-16! Trick is to search out the really good stuff, it will be out there you just gotta keep looking!
@theindiefanclub mervyns right, great band, even better times but theres a lot of good shit going on just now too. You just gotta find it!! When i was 15 i spent all my time listening to hendrix and the stones and wishing id been around in the sixties, then the stone roses came along and kicked off so much! You'll find your niche then never look back!!
I was a broken hearted 17 year old indie-kid when I first heard 'The Fannies'. They made all that emotional turbulence seem relevant. I used to sing my heart out to 'Bandwagonesque'(and I still do regularly to this day at the age of 35 ha, ha). Thank you for posting. Peace
I knew at the time I heard Oasis they weren't that different just made some good records at that time and I never understood the way they have been put on that pedestal at the time and since. When you hear this again, I recall why I thought that.....
Oasis only formed in 1991, yet this is from 1990......!
TFC were something very special - we gave them their London debut at the The Cube - Bull'n Gate in 1990 - Oasis didn't emerge until a while later around late '92/93 - I think but then again who cares? happy days and good music all round!
@RogueRotting360 possibly, but if this had the production of their Northern Britain/Grand Prix era, you can imagine the epicness. They rock this one live. Bandwagonesque is not my favourite album because of the production but still very strong songs.
@jackleaves yeah ive heard that one, and its *very* superb. but they use a flute and harmonica and banjo in addition to acoustics, which is very cool, but id like to hear an electric version with cello and an organ, kinda like Crazy Horse would do. Maybe ill just do a cover myself...
Am i wierd or something? I have to say that this is my song that I want to bow down on. I think I know my "onions" when it somes to music, but for me this is my fave song ever. They nail it, and it remids me of getting a few tins in before going up town (brum) and having it!!
Just damn good onions. A simple song but it's got something very special and evocative about it. One of my all time favourites, takes me back to 'then'.
Thia fuckin song..sorry for swearing..but it tkes me back to when i was 16. what a tune? 16 yr olds now listen to shit...so i'm putting myself on a pedestal

This is a great song and definitely one of the highlights of the album. Terrific chorus to sing along to live, up there with Baby Lee.
