It's not the most desirable outcome, but everyone has the right to live their lives as they wish, we are human after all. My father is Jewish and my mom is a gentile. I am trying to convert because, regardless of rabbinic interpretation, I can trace my ancestry to a plethora of generations of individuals who have striven to survive in hostile societies, and because I feel it is my duty to carry out the traditions of my forefathers. i understand feeling like one's culture is vanishing, especially since the holocaust murdered so many jews, and the idea of marrying jewish and having jewish children gives relief, but I strongly feel that all person's are acceptable to marry and procreate with. People are just people no matter their ethnicity or religion and many are worthy of love. It's not the most desirable outcome, but everyone has the right to live their lives as they wish, we are human after all. My father is Jewish and my mom is a gentile. I am trying to convert because, regardless of rabbinic interpretation, I can trace my ancestry to a plethora of generations of individuals who have striven to survive in hostile societies, and because I feel it is my duty to carry out the traditions of my forefathers. I feel just as Jewish as a "true Jew".

Can I get an explanation for the following:
Tractate Shabbos 32b says that when the Moshiach comes every Jew observant in the mitzvot of tzitzit (fringes) will have 2,800 non-Jewish slaves.
Tractate Eruvin 43b says that while the Moshiach cannot come on Shabbos because he would disrupt the Shabbos, he can come on Shabbos Eve because by that time Jews will have non-Jewish slaves to do all the preparatory work for Shabbos at that time.

This is crazy, there are no jewish women. Women aren't allowed to study talmud, nor act in temple, or even wear those strings that all jews are supposed to wear. In fact, until not too long agao women weren't even allowed to learn hebrew; forget learning the torah! If you think about it, most people do prefer to marry their own kind. Moreover, with the abundance of Neo Nazis, Arabs hating Jews, rarely do most non Jews want anything long term with Jews. i understand feeling like one's culture is vanishing, especially since the holocaust murdered so many jews, and the idea of marrying jewish and having jewish children gives relief, but I strongly feel that all person's are acceptable to marry and procreate with. People are just people no matter their ethnicity or religion and many are worthy of love. I would never tell my children to only marry jewish, I feel this is antiquated and controlling. but i'm secular so i guess I don't quite get it.

This isn't really racist though it doesn't take the time to included the diversity found among Jews. As a matter of fact all of the major western monotheistic religions encourage adherents to marry within the religion. It's probably to insure that any children will be raised within those belief systems and continue the religion, especially in a religion that doesn't generally proselytize like Judaism.

@koolkat18181 you don't. there was a genetic bottleneck a while back so if you are Jewish and marry Jewish there is a strong risk of endogamy.

I don't blame Jews if they don't want to marry Non Jews. I wouldn't marry someone who did not beleive like me either. "Two cannot walk together lest they be agreed." There is enough in life to argue about without religion being put into the fight.
Then, how do you raise the kids? Confuse them by raising one, one way, the other another way?

So this is not racist how? Jewsh Identity is matrilineal in most cases and also patrilineal in the case of a kohain. Now as Jew I see no way to call this "marry jewish only" policy as anything but racist.

If you are a man. Just know that your children will be not Jewish. No bris, no barmitsva or batmitsva, no Chanukkah gelt:) Aren't u want to carry on Yidishka!!!
If you are a women, your children will be Jewish anyaway. BUT it is very complicated to raise children Jewish in the home with mixed cultural backgrounds. May be you don't care right now, but it will matter later.

@inna3021 if your mother is a hasid shiksa then you aren't Jewish. many women who think they are Jewish turn out not to be. now with mtDNA testing a lot of women will be shocked to learn they aren't actually Jewish.

Uh, Tarynnicoli if women received the oral torah first don't you think they should be teaching it not men. Don't you undrerstand the oral torah has to bring proof from the written torah. Some of the torah was spoken to the Jewish nation as a whole and other parts were spoken to Moses who passed it on. Rabbi's have to bring proof of what they are saying from the written torah and what you are saying sounds made up by some Rabbi and most honest Rabbi's would tell you this is nonsense.

Another reason for there not to be intermarriage is to give your child a clear religious identity.
It's simple, start dating someone whom you're attracted to. Try to convert her! If she says she will never be willing to convert, then that is her problem!

so basically what facts tell me , jewish woman were having fatherless babies back in the day, and so the religious leaders at the time decided to allow the offsprings race/religion etc.. to follow suit with the mother due to not knowing the fathers, because simply daddy was not there..... abraham left sarah... sarah was told that isaac was being sacrified.. not ishmael... so she cried bitterly and died of a result of her pain..... oral torah first given to woman..... woman claim god gave to them

To give a case where the oral torah does give proof from the written torah is the case of the Sabbath. The written torah does not define work but the talmud explains because after this the written torah goes into the Temple the reason for this was that work in the temple was also considered work for Sabbath. Without this HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE WORK? However, here, there is none in fact in Deutoronomy chapter 9 it warns against intermarriage of BOTH GENDERS. It matters who BOTH parents are IMO.
