@mrumsower Seriously. I see bad drivers everyday. I have to execute an emergency maneuver to avoid an accident because someone did something stupid or dangerous about once a week. I wish they would make the driving test more difficult, because there are WAY too many people on the roads who shouldn't have a license. The other day guy cut across 3 lanes without signalling. Me and the guy next to me both had to slam on our brakes to avoid an accident. Btw, a CHP saw the whole thing and ignored it.
what the driver should have done was pull as far to the right as far as possible and stay there ...The officer was about to pass when the driver made the left turn in front of the cruiser ....... look at the video closely and you will see the drivers actually turn her head 90 degrees to look at the officer while she made the turn......
I would have pulled to the right and waited..... Then drove up to the next block to make safe u-turn and continue on my way
If there's an emergency vehicle behind you with it's lights flashing, and you have to go through a red light to move out of it's way, then just grow a set of balls and do so. They'll be quite thankful and won't ticket you for it, just use good sense and make sure you don't get hit by cross-traffic. The traffic laws state that a police officer's commands always override a traffic control device, so I think this situation would fall under that rule.
- 4-6 second rule instead of the 2-3 second rule depending on visibility and rainfall.
The sheer amount of gratuitous speeding, unsafe lane changing, and tailgating over this last week while it was pouring rain was just staggering in it's stupidity.
I swear, auto manufacturers should program their car's computers to disable anti-lock breaks and airbags when the driver drives like an idiot.
"whomever said there's no such thing as a bad driver.... has never had their EYES OPEN!" or perhaps they're so bad themselves they think everyone else are excellent drivers. lol
there are so often idiot drivers that don't know what to do when they hear sirens and emergency vehicles responding and then react completly wrong. And I think it's about the same not just in other parts of the US, but all around the world :(
I like these kinds of videos. I wonder if you could find a way to put more footage up and have a 5+ minute segment on the ride-a-longs. I'm sure you saw many more people behaving badly than that
@Spokker I agree, I screamed at the computer when Mr. Roberts said "he was let off on a warning", but my problem is, if the man is "still getting used to it" shouldn't he be driving slower to get used to something and not going so fast.
It's very easy to hydroplane, I have an 06 Sonata, even with brand new tires, deep treads and good shoulder drainage(edge) on the tire, in heavy rains or riding in the crown of the road you can hydro plane very easily. These tiny cars that are very light it surprises me that it doesn't happen more often. Add to that, many driver to not maintain their vehicles and drive around with bald or worn out tires. RWD vehicles are susceptible to spin outs, especially in turns.
Stanley, I love your segments, especially the traffic enforcement ones.

TVman1981, if you're in a situation like the Infiniti, what do you suppose to do if you are in the left turn lane and boxed in?

Check your right mirror, proceed to the right, get out of the way. Is it that hard? Common sense.
Wait, this is CA, People + common sense? That does not exist.
