  • There's nothing else you can say. This is simply genius.

  • This may be the best anthem for Occupy Wall St yet. And thirty years old. Truth endures.

  • I was Blessed to see Billy 2 time's live.(: He is one of the greatest song writers of our time. His music will alway's be part of my life.

  • When I was 8 or 9, every Saturday I would go in the basement with my keyboard and this concert on Laserdisc. I'd set up my keyboard and "play along". Now I'm 23 and can watch this on Youtube and reminisce about the fun of youth and the importance that Billy Joel was to mine.

  • Tape on left thumb...now you know why.. ;-)

  • Liberty DiVitto Is A Bad MotherSHUT YOUR MOUTH!

  • @stretchgilbert Dude, Liberty is the man back there. CraZy as it may sound, his antics remind me of Keith Moon.

  • @stretchgilbert Liberty is a legendary rock percussionist, he deserves more recognition.

  • The social insight in these lyrics is amazing--light years beyond the stuff that dominates most of popular music.

  • Wish I could play drums like that.

  • lol Billy Joel's playing the piano keys faster than the video's frame rate so his fingers just look like a blur.

  • A legend in our time...I Love Billy Joel

  • because the hammers donts bounce back into place in time to hit it again on that center c. In a grand piano the hammers do bounce back into place in time for you to play 32 notes on one key

  • Awesome. This guy was the coolest musician in the world in my view...by the way you can only play this song on a grand piano not an upright if anyone's tried. A free beer if you can tell me why :-)

  • crazy cool 80s rock

  • @kat4125 70's Rock. The song is from 1976.

  • Who's the idiot that disliked this video?

  • I remember watching this concert on HBO. I had not heard this song before and was taken away by its awesome intensity!

  • @timmmahhhh I'm a huge fan and I do remember taping this off of HBO and watching it relentlessly. His music always inspired me to play piano at a very young age (starting at age 5), and I still play. His music is one big bowl of WIN!

  • um... his hands are blurs...

  • my dad sang with him and toured with him

  • I know of an Angry Old Bitch. LOL!

  • The whole Turnstiles album was just about the greatest ever made!!!

  • ahhhhhhhh *head explodes

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this vid at grabaudionow doht cohm.

  • i have better quality on this video

  • liberty devitto is among my favorite drummers of all time... this song brings out some of his best shit

  • I rather like the blurry effect. His hands are so fast the video can't keep up.

  • billy joel is amazing but, you also have to give some credit to everyone else in the band. the song is put together so perfectly. i love it.

  • One of the best live performances I have ever seen

  • Bring back Liberty DeVitto. He's an animal and deserves to be Billy's one and only drummer. Class all the way !!

  • @purpledude603 You are right sir! The latest drummer is rather lame. Liberty and Mark Rivera, 2 greats! Billy's the best that ever was.

  • @Loejyrrab I wouldn't say he was lame. The drummer Chuck Burgi and keyboardist David Rosenthal are both from Rainbow, one of my favorite bands but he just isn't Liberty. Liberty for all !!

  • @purpledude603 Yea, I like your cry at the end, "Liberty for all" Good one. Re:the current drummer, I suppose "lame" is unfair, but there's something missing in his playing compared to L.D.

  • @purpledude603 Dont think Devitto is coming back. . . He and Billy have a pretty big riff between them now!!!

  • Is this video 10fps?

  • Such an honest song. He ain't afraid to admit he's a deeply flawed, kinda-of-a-jerk.

  • I'm not making any comparisons here, but Joel playing in this sort of setting makes me think that Joel is the Fats Waller of the 80s.

  • i can sorta do that thingy in the beginning but ABSOLOUTLY not as good

  • @weldromfeldroth Ya!!! who ever writes songs with 64th notes? I mean... WTF?!

  • I KNOW RIGHT???

  • This was the best concert that Billy Joel ever did! Live on HBO from Long Island. I was there behind the stage back in 1982. The Nylon Curtain tour! He was so in tune with everything that night. I will never forget this concert. Also, Gerry Cooney(The great white hope...remember him?) was there too! Was in the Third row I believe. You can even see him starting at 2:06 - 2:10. Look directly under the mic as the camera zooms in on Billy! Thats him. Can also see him at 3:15 right above Billy

  • video= fail

    audio=win

billy joel= epic win of awesome

  • Could you please give me a good reason why this video is gay?

  • oops! I was thinking of Allentown, that video is really gay.

  • @jkassmir you know you can remove your own comments right?

  • @thebestbillyjoel it makes me want to go gay for billy joel

  • @thebestbillyjoel Its gay because when you watch it, it makes you happy.

As FDL09sn07 said, Billy Joel = Epic win of awesome

  • @thebestbillyjoel It makes grown men infatuated with Billy Joel.

  • @thebestbillyjoel Whoever said it is merely using projection out of pure jealousy.

  • just gotta say, it takes some SERIOUS musicianship to come up with these banging songwriting and arrangements skills- Billy ROCKS!

  • billy rocks! 1 of my all time favorite songs

  • that piano on the intro sounds amazing.

  • i love him- his hands and those white sneaks. i want to marry him, seriously. hehe

  • well him and wife number four have just split up so you can have at it...

  • haha yeah it's only wife number 3. . .i'll be wife number 4! lol

  • i was at this 1982, long island,n.y..great show,billys prime. keep rockin.....

  • My god those hands.... him and Clapton, they are just not human..

  • awesome

  • it's funny. with all his great songs i agree with the prior posting. these are also two of my favoite five. maybe it's the odd music-hall calliope sound that is not heard on many recording. off the3 top of my head i'd say my others in the top five would be 'we didn't start the fire', captain jack' and 'alexa. not that anyone cares. thanks for posting this cool video.

  • He has so many amazing songs, but this is definitely my favorite....with The Entertainer as a close second.

  • Nice!

  • i love this song!!!!!

  • Is that a young Max Weinberg on drums?

  • The drummer is longstanding Liberty DeVitto.

  • I LOVE YOU BILLY!
