in canada the 4000's were most common with the 2.2 litre 5 cylinder engine, they WERE NOT TURBOCHARGED and that goes for the u.s as well. either a 3 speed auto transmission or a 5 speed manual, the quattro only came with a standard transmission as well. this engine is a 5 cylinder. trust me i have one...mines just not as slow as this.
Like I said it was a slow car. It lead a hard life before I got it and that road was literally all slush and ice so it really wasn't getting traction. I kind of miss it now for winter but I like my 89 Mercedes 190E alot more.
@Prologuetodnb It ain't a Quattro. The 4000S had a 4cyl motor, whereas the 4000CS Quattro had a 5cyl, turbocharged if I recall. Sounds like he as the 4 banger with the 3 speed automatic. 10 secs 0-60. I just don't recall it being this slow, though....
@xxl2007 Well very true but I did have a 4000S with the 2.2 5 cyl (non quattro), but the motor was pretty much the only difference between the 1.8 4cyl 4000S, it was an option for the model.
hmm i have the 5 cyl and its just about as slow. 115hp shit!

And it's not a 5 cylinder, it was the 1.8 4 cylinder. It had a lot of issues.
