Seats are leather and from a Rover; I hasten to add it's my mates bus not mine. They are dead comfy apparently but I'm not sure I believe him? I'm puttin a pair of ratty Porsche Carrera 'high backs' in my bus. The Rover seats do look pretty cool though......I can't believe I'm admitting to this?
most of us dub owneres try and keep water from anywhere near theinside lol - Last night in hoilland it was pissing down with rain and my overhead ventilation in the splitty poured a stream of water down my leg , i only had a 10 k drive so i just got it home there really was a river in the footwell, anywaqy thanks for the acdvice , i managed to lose the keys to the bus in italy so i had to replace ignition barrel but couldn't remove sterring wheel so i could complete the assembly, now i can
As with all VeeDubs; air cooled is ALWAYS better than water! Surprised you had a footwell pool, how come you've no rust holes? You must have a restored bus man!
Yeah, I have a '72 standard that I'm trying like hell to get the steering wheel out of. Couldn't do it, so my friend Dave is gonna help me. :) Nice Bus!
Not easy to get off man, I tried standard bearing pullers but these locked up under pressure! My hydraulic set worked fine but only after 2200psi force being applied!! Remember to use goggles - just in case.
Not brute force Dude, I like to think of it as more a kind of tactical assault executed with military like precision. Bottom line here is it had to come off; Brit ingenuity vanquishing German assembly - pity they never used any grease on the splines :(
Glad u liked vid - Had a good laugh making it :)
