In my opinion Titanic is better than Avatar. I say this beause Titanic was a true event and a sad one at that. History repeats itself like with Pearl Harbor and 9/11. We under estimated ourselves as so supier but yet we could die crossing the street. Anyway this movie reminds us of that sad night so many years ago and it also reminds us it could happen again.... Pray to God that we never forget the Past.
@Timberwolf1054 You can't compare Titanic to Pearl Harbor or 9/11. Fact is 9/11 and Pearl Harbor were fabricated attacks. It will never share same emotional depth like Titanic, because it was simply unforeseen., considering it was "unsinkable" and to say it modestly very unlucky. Now Pearl Harbor and Twin Towers were both obvious targets, and the government had in both cases been aware of the potential risks. But all this unecessary talk aside. Titanic is definately better than Avatar.
Never watched Avatar, so I don't really have an opinion on which is better... but the central story of "Titanic" was pretty fictional, and the actual events were distorted somewhat. So Avatar is about 100% fiction, Titanic is 90% fictional... not too much difference.

I like both, but if I were to pick between the two, I would pick Titanic. Avatar may be good, but Titanic tells the story of not only Rose and Jack (that was his name, right?), but also the story of 1,517 people's lives lost out at sea in the year 1912 in our history. "Titanic" is a beautiful memorial for the ship and the people who went down with it. "Avatar" is just fun, music, acting, storytelling and awesome graphics.

Avatar had its visual and conceptual merits, but Titanic outclasses it by miles.

Is Titanic the greatest movie ever? I won't answer that, because it depends on what you think. But it always had something special, a "purity", something that genuinely touched the heart. That's what always keep me coming back to it. A beautiful movie with a beautiful, beautiful soundtrack.
The beginning was my favorite part, because a 90-year-old woman went back in a time in her life; I love learning about time, about people's lives in the past, to know what they felt in that time, what they went through, it's exhilerating to learn her story, even though she's not real, she could've been.
Avatar is a piece of "crap" , when compared to Titanic, which can be voted the best movie ever made. Titanic, the theme, the lyrics, the action, the filming, the songs, the everything about it is SUPER.
Some people would say that it's a disaster movie of epic proportions others would think that it's just another sappy romance between a poor boy and a rich girl but Titanic isn't just both of these, it tells the story on how the true character of a person comes out when disaster strikes. It is through Jack and Rose that we see how the rich and poor were treated and the human errors that came up,

right not there is a "trendiness" in trashing titanic i believe... i read somewhere on a forum... that is so true. It's not old enough to be called a classic like Gone With The Wind, but I honestly think ppl will begin to see titanic differently 50 years from now... instead of just saying "titanic is just a stupid love story mixed with good effects", and making fun of the "im flying" scene.
bottom line i love this movie. always no.1 in my heart.

Okay everyone, please stop comparing Titanic and Avatar. They are both great movies. Titanic is a historical fiction love story, and Avatar is a futuristic sci-fi love story. They are almost opposites! They both sold insanely well in the box office, so people love them both. Titanic is a classic, and Avatar probably will be one someday.

I like both, but if I were to pick between the two, I would pick Titanic. Avatar may be good, but Titanic tells the story of not only Rose and Jack (that was his name, right?), but also the story of 1,517 people's lives lost out at sea in the year 1912 in our history. "Titanic" is a beautiful memorial for the ship and the people who went down with it. "Avatar" is just fun, music, acting, storytelling and awesome graphics.

I love this movie; ladies, if we are going to marry someone, it shouldn't be for his money, it should be for the fact that he is willing to die so that we may live. Jack did it for Rose in the movie, JESUS CHRIST did it for you and me. If you are not married to the man of your dreams, I hope GOD sends you the man of GOD of your dreams. Loving, king, generous, great in bed and wealthy enough to take at least 4 vacations a year. I would marry GOD if I could literally. 5:03 is sweet and surreal.

Lol, people comparing Titanic to Avatar. Avatar lacked any real substance because the acting for several central characters was HORRIBLE. Moreover, the plot is wholly unoriginal when you dissect it. The evil human race invades the planet of some perfectly innocent natives. Does that remind anybody else of Fern Gully? How about Dances With Wolves? Avatar had its visual and conceptual merits, but Titanic outclasses it by miles.

I saw it expecting something so new and great, and I didn't even see the whole thing because I got bored! lol I think the hype thing can realy brainwash some people into thinking something is wayyy better than it is. Titanic atleast deserves most of its hype, lol :D

James Cameron came up with a lot of good movies. But he struck gold when he came up with TITANIC. Avatar was good, but I don't think he'll ever be able to top the price sales in store or theater again. Titanic was the one time one hit wonder. The titanic was a dream and a tragedy for everyone aboard the SMS Titanic, rich, poor, middle class. There may or may not have been a Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater. But Titanic was the real thing, through and through.

@KristenBaran88 I'm just gonna say, Avatar was a LOT more then just blue people, sadly I haven't seen Titanic since I was little, and we have yet to find the tape, I do vaguely remember some parts and do think but from what I remember it being a fantastic movie, but also a sad one, I do hope I can maybe get the DVD of it someday.

Is Titanic the greatest movie ever? I won't answer that, because it depends on what you think. But it always had something special, a "purity", something that genuinely touched the heart. That's what always keep me coming back to it. A beautiful movie with a beautiful, beautiful soundtrack.

The beginning was my favorite part, because a 90-year-old woman went back in a time in her life; I love learning about time, about people's lives in the past, to know what they felt in that time, what they went through, it's exhilerating to learn her story, even though she's not real, she could've been.

Some people would say that it's a disaster movie of epic proportions others would think that it's just another sappy romance between a poor boy and a rich girl but Titanic isn't just both of these, it tells the story on how the true character of a person comes out when disaster strikes. It is through Jack and Rose that we see how the rich and poor were treated and the human errors that came up,
