omfg this video is just showing the basics of ableton. you people saying it sounds like shit are retarded he obviously wasn't trying to make "THE SICKEST TRANSITION EVAR!!!!" grow the fuck up.
Hi guys! I am starting with Ableton, and I want to know how important is a Good Sound Card to do a Live Session (without any extern instruments / MIDI / pLUGINS) is Ableton?? Could I do a live session with my default Asus M51sound card? Shoud I buy an external sound card as MOTU or M-Audio - Fast Track Ultra????
What a load of bullshit comments. This guy is just showing how you can mix 2 tracks with Ableton live. That's what he's doing. He's not trying to teach you how to be a great DJ. So shut up.
I don't think it's supposed to fit. The contrast helps make it easier to tell what sounds are coming from where for the purposes of education. As in, 'how to mix two songs together with Live"....I'm sure he wasn't trying to pick two songs that blend together so well you can't even tell, or have never heard before so wouldn't know anyway.
@StarCraftAccount actualy for newbs that have no ideia how djing is this tut is actualy good. so stfu and take ur hate elsewhere, btw.. do u use VYNIL AND JUST A CROSSFADER? IF NOPT UR NOT REEL DEEJeh!
@StarCraftAccount becuase hes making a mix? if he was live it would be different, some people just make mixes to listen to, or like me, i make them when im bored

i dont see a fuckin poin t of using ableton live if u re only mixing two tracks. it has so MANY other functions u can do whatever u think of with the tracks. this is so lame
how about remixing the tracks in real time... using various vst's for effects or putting samples on and on... ever heard of filters retriggers flangers gate effect... oh wait.... ever heard of midi controller ?!?!?!
Very Good Info, but I wonder how big name dj's like John Digweed or Paul Oakenfold are able to make tightly blended cd's without a single train wreck as oppose to what you hear live?
anyone moaning at the "dance to rock" mix should sod off
if u knew about music production u would KNOW that these 2 are NOT supposed to go, hence being an ideal example of how ableton BPM warps n holds 2 things, 1 with a straight beat, and one with a variable tempo because of a real drummer....
brilliant tutorial thank you, like the guy under me says - you simplify some very confusing shit - who gives a f*ck what tunes you use
this commentators dont know what mashups realy mean is. it means you can remix any kind of music trance to hiphop to rock to jazz etc.. you cannt say dont mashups rock to trance thats disgusting ear you have
if that's aimed at me, then get ur technics out and mix a slipknot/sepultura/meshuggah/whoever track with any house track u so desire mate, i'd love to see the video ;)
I'm totally new to this, but how are you guys DJing with Ableton without some kind of external controller. Or, maybe I'm just slow? Can someone help suggest some type of controller or something that I can map too? Or, are you guys just using your mouse. That would be tricky though....hm..
click on the clip and near there is a loop button. from what you say, the loop button should be turned on and lit up. just click the loop button again and it should go off
I Love the Song 1983 by Eric Prydz. I found that you can fade 1983 in good with Royksopp- What Else is There?(Jacques Lu Cont Remix). It's pretty tight when you find the right spot to start mixing the tracks.
you generally shouldn't mix audio which is 20bpm different. you should use re-pitch instead of beats mode... this will not diminish sound quality as bad during warp
Hey thanks for these vids once again man. Could you get a little more complex and show how to successfully mix more than 2 tracks? Kind of like how those Radio Shows like A State of Trance do? Thanks! Keep it up!

tényleg az, nem nagyon okos dolog egy house számot bekeverni egy rock számba föleg ha ekkora nagy külömbség van a tempok közt

Clearly. I've done some myself.
However, as the title suggests: "Ableton Live Tutorial- Your First DJ Mix"
This is a BEGINNERS tutorial.
I also see you haven't chosen to watch the other video's made by this guy, explaining how to insert effects to your mix, and use it further.
I suggest you think next time before spewing some un-educated, offensive opinion on beginners simply wishing to learn the basics.

cdj in "take" form (eg mix track 2 into track 1... stop recording and have a cup of tea... go back later and play track 2 from HD, mix track 3 in....
everythin on a sep track in cubase/protools/logic etc so u can tweak the EQ/minor timestretches later
