  • Does anyone know what the song that's playing in the beginning is called?

  • As someone who has spent time in the Comeraghs, and who fell in and out of love with a charming Déise girl under their shadow, this piece also manages to charm and haunt me. Go n-éirí leat Karan (Déiseach eile inti, dála an scéil)! :)

  • Oh goodness to know Geilge/Irish let alone sing it like Karen Casey. Thanks for sharing this. It's like a mini-Gaeltacht (Irish speaking community). Thanks!

  • Amen Allen.....long may it last!

  • Wonderful. Love Mary Ann Kennedy on the harp and Jimmy Capps on guitar.

  • @lawsonbob

    Steve Cooney on guitar.

  • @sinjin480 Thanks for the correction.

  • Could some one please tell me the name of the tune being played at the beginning of this video?

This is lovely, has inspired me to try and learn concertina.

  • It's nearly Christmas.... My parents have passed this year...and I'm sad....and I'm Scottish-Irish-American...and a Professional Celtic musician. That being said....this is wonderful therapy. Sitting here, drinking many Jameson and playing along with the band.... It's only something other musicians can comprehend. :) This is bringing a tear to my eye and joy to my heart. Thank you Karen!

    Love, Jamie

  • @lowellirish

I'm sorry for you.But nothing ever ends in our culture, we simply start again! Bring your parents ashes with you, and come over,! This is where the Celts are from!"

  • schade, dass der schluss fehlt...

    aber super tolles lied!

  • Lyrics and translation now up

  • No amateurs at this convention: all known musicians. Casey, Black and O'Maonlai all have their own bands.

  • OMG! MY legend! Karan is an angel just born here! Her voice is enough to melt anyones heart :D x

  • Part 1 of 3: "My heartfelt blessings On your valleys and mountains Sweet Comeragh And on your cheeful people So naturally kind Sweet Comeragh On your shining streams And your leafy woodlands Your honeyed slopes And your gleaming meadows My heart fills with love For all of them surely Sweet Comeragh"...
  • Thanx for the translation!

  • Could some kind Gaelic speaker let us know what this song is about?

  • Part 2 of 3: "Your rugged peaks Are a handsome sight Sweet Comeragh As the rising sun Sets them aflame Sweet Comeragh Cliffs and steep slopes In every direction Like a satin weave From a magic loom As the dew falls From the heavens high Sweet Comeragh"...
  • Part 3 of 3: "I was a while away From your beauty Sweet Comeragh Slaving so hard In a foreign land Sweet Comeragh Base work it was Just making a living Far from my home 'Neath the shade of your mountains So I came back to you The flower of the Déise Sweet Comeragh".
