Paul got a lot criticism for his lack of showing emotion and his supposed indifference when he was told the news that John had been murdered. In all fairness, it is hard to say exactly what was going through Paul's mind at the time. The relationship that John and Paul had was extremely complicated, so much so that none of us could really understand it. It involved love, hate, jealousy, respect, anger, and true friendship.

My other aunt wasn't so lucky but the reason why makes me cry.
