@buckstarchaser well you can eat them at any stage but if you want fully developed, and larger potatoes you'll need to wait till the plant dies. when the leaves start to either turn yellow or get crispy around the edges then its close enough. you can harvest. it can take up to 4 or 5 months.
Hello..You taught me how to grow my first potatoes, i planted my potatoes about 3 weeks ago in planting bags, i am in the process of hilling them, its so exciting..I have not fertalized them though and i forgot to let the potatoe end heal..:(
I hope they stil grow .I cant wait to see how many potatoes ar in the bag...Your right it very exciting.! Thnak you and i am wanting to grow carrots next..have seeded them hope to see what to do to grow them ....thanks again your brilliant teacher !
thanks, good video, I just don't understand why I only get a couple of potatoes from each plant. I think I'll try the bucket method next year or maybe even now and put it in my greenhouse. thanks again.

nice set up.to bad for you that you cant fool all. grass over potatoes? the plant is to green, the earth is to soft lets say. is easy to see that plant and potatoes was insert in earth by hand before filming.kind of noob you are
In my village we grow potatoes very nice and weller than yours. Russian potatoe vodka better than any czech or finland vodka you cannot deny this it is true. My followers will only allow our vodka to touch lips, it make you live longer and become strong man like a horse, you have very weak and tiny potato you understand me?
Aswell if you have a cold winter like a ice when do you removed potato from freezer-burn permafrost to eat right away? I ask because in my village there is a pig who drink
@zavidladygetter497 Kinda sounds like you have been drinking with the pig. I will bet you that here in Colorado we grow better and more potato's than you do in Russia and we don't make Vodka out of them. We eat them so that they do make you strong and healthy not drunk and stupid.
just yesterday i harvested my very first potatoes! red potatoes that i grew in a bag. so cool when you plant something and have success on your first try :).
took about 4 months. but you will only get a few small ones. they're delicious small. i wanted to wait a few more months to get big ones but i was impatient and started digging around lol. :P
@TheBradyoHead thank you. i will remember that. i have baby plants coming from new red potatoes. funny thing is when you think you've picked up all the potatoes, suddenly new plants start popping up by surprise.
@TheBradyoHead That would be a long time. I have used potatoes that were buried pretty deep and came out the next spring when I worked the ground and they were better than the ones I got in the fall. If they are kept cool (around 40 degrees) they just get a little sweeter as the carbs change into sugar. This vid is ridiculous. If you were raising enough potato's to last the winter it would take you all winter to harvest them. And this was a setup process, green plant, wilted, soil soft.
my 2 kids are called "spud" & "chip" why i hear you speak, well its all because of Doug and potatoes. You see when i was 14 i had my first baked potaoes and it changed my life. I have bocome bigger, taller i found i could grow a beard and after a few more years of eating "spuds" i could drink, vote and drive a car. i PUT ALL THIS DOWN TO EATING POTATOES, I JUST LOOOOOVE THEM
In response to all the detractors... I'm a green gardener (as in NEW). For a primer "how to" this series was thorough and concise. It gave me a grasp of the basics. Further, it gave me enough info and confidence to TRY to grow!!! It's a step in the right direction. Detractors... relax, post, and be positive. Let the viewers glean what they may from their (and your) videos. And if you have uploaded no videos... as the saying goes... "show me something better..."
I have recently dug out my first own grown potatoes and they were the best potatoes i have ever eaten.I encourage everyone to plant their potatoes but do not forget the natural fertilizer and to dig through the soil thouroughly before planting lest you have a low yield.
hah. great video. never been allowed on Askenazi Marxist American Media! and real organic-ish potatoes are 10x better and taste devine. have one every day and keep the Jewish Police State Away.
after your potatoes flower, you can harvest "new" potatoes which have a very thin skin and won't keep long. I agree, this guy sucks, a pitch fork is sometimes helpful... If I harvested my 1 acre of potatoes like he does i'd be out there until the middle of december.
OMG you should watch a video called 3sum zac efron and more. It is an awesome video. this is scary if u read this far u will die in 10 days if u dont send to any 15 videos in 2 hours good luck hope u dont die

because it's like Wikipedia, anybody can submit a video to expert village as the "expert's" guide but most of them are not.
