In comparison to the books, yes, the movie is lacking. However, it's impossible to put an entire book into one and a half/two hours of screentime. As a stand-alone film, I think they did a great job. The score is beautiful too. I look forward to March 2013 with great anticipation. :)

They didn't mention Thalia (At all!) They didn't add Mr.D.Percy fought ares AND won .Annabeth is a blond.Grover got the flying shoes .They forgot to put Clarisse in it .Nor the fact that percy was on Annabeth's side on the capture the flag .

This movie sucked. lol. The only thing good about it was the casting decisions. They messed up the plot completely. All the bad guys were wrongly portrayed and they left out important characters. Clarisse? ARES?! Hello? What the hell?!

i LOVE this movie as well! never read the book but the movies was awesome, funny how movies based on things like books or video games get the most critisism :( never see pirates of the caribbean getting this much hate or critical reception, i mean OF COURSE IT DOES, but in a different way, there's nothing to compare it to, so not much else to say.......but i LOVE percy jackson, guardian owls, prince of persia, these were all AWESOME movies! no denying that! even the LOTR series!

Ok, why does everyone have to say this movie sucks? I'm a major MAJOR Percy Jackson and The Olympians fan, and I thought the movie was really, really good. I don't understand why people have to compare it to the book so much. Let's be happy it was made into a movie guys. We can finally see Percy's adventures on the screen, and let's think about Rick Riordan. I want to be a writer someday, and I'd love it if my thoughts were put on the screen, and bet he loves it to. So stop insulting the movie.

There's no ignoring the fact that if they had stuck to the original ideas then it would be so much better and also the fact that I hear that a sequel is in the works an adaptation of Sea Of Monsters which on the basis of the 1st movie having left out so much how could you build a sequel but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think if someone like Andrew Andamson came along (who did a brill job with Narnia) and remade P.Jackson it would be amazing but we

By the way, I was kind of disappointed about Chris Columbus, after the awesome job he did with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone...but it was still a REALLY funny movie. My fave character was Grover! In the book my fave was Percy, but in the movie he was too angsty :(

the hell is this joke of a plot they've come up with. And we came out of the cinema just talking about all the changes and just being sulky and disgruntled. alright i am confess i am a harcore p.jackson fan and yes i saw the movie and yes i have the dvd, but in its own right it was a GOOD movie BUT on the main part for those select few who've never had the experience of the reading Mr. Riordians brilliant books.
