This board gave me no end of problems. Turns out you have to make sure the Bios version is compatible with the technical revision of your CPU. You can update the bios to accept newer CPUs, BUT you need a default compatible cpu to update the bios. Big catch 22.
I'll have to dig out my manual but I have this board and I'm pretty sure it said it supported crossfire - that said I'm more likely to replace it with a better board than buy a second card, need to prioritise, especially now 1156 is being superseded.
@ultragaming1993 I switched to EVO version cause this board cant use crossfire or SLI at the fasterest speed.. Though i dun need it now maybe i will need it next time for upgrading.
hi i have this board, ive just got myself a ssd 240gb ocz vertex 2 and i tested it with the hd tune and the write speed was around 127 :( , my question is did i connected it to the correct s-ata cable 3gb or there is another gb/s cable that i should connect it to it?
Anyone tried crossfire 5770 with this board? im planning to do it. im wondering if the X4 slot is going to make any real difference and if its worth the cost
Does this board support it or not?... I feel like an idiot buying this cheap board 6 months ago, now I want SLi badly i dont know if this board can run it or not.
Now heres another question: If I've got 5850 x2 crossfired in dual x8 mode(Because the motherboard supports 1 card at x16 and two at x8) How much less performance will I get?
I just finished by new computer build CPU: Intel i7 860 Motherboard: Asus P7P55D LE RAM: 2gb Kingston 1333 DDR3 HDD: WD Green Power 500gb ODD: Lite-On iHas324 DVD-RW GPU: nVidia GT220 1gb GDDR3 Case: Cooler Master Elite 334 PSU: Gigabyte Superb 550 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit I combined it with a Logitech Newtouch 200 ,a Logitech B100 and Norton Internet Security 2010 and BAM! It's the best computer I've ever built (It's the only computer I ever built).
@andyw412rs hey can you help me whit something i am planing on making my own pc i am using the same Motherboard: Asus P7P55D LE but the thing is that idk what case can i use for that motherboard ? cus every case has it.s own set up in the back but the motherboard has alot more usb and stuff that the case seem to not have ? plz i need your help i was planing to use Cooler Master Elite 330 Black ATX Mid-Tower would that case do ?
That case would be fine. The I/O board included with your case doesn't actually fit your motherboard, you have to remove it and put in the one included with the motherboard. Any case that supports ATX motherboards will do fine.
I am lucky i got this board. It's not really expensive compared to those higher end boards. But it's only USB 2.0. Now USB 3.0 is out, i can get higher end board + USB 3.0 and 6GB SATA. :D
I would not worry about that, I also just bought a gigabyte that is not usb 3.0, but so far there are many USB 3.0 devices besides the mobo that bring only feature 2 usb 3.0 ports so if you want those two USB 3.0 ports best shopping usb 3.0 card pciex x1 for your current mobo, and one more thing, intel will no give support to usb 3.0 until 2011
I went with cheapest version the LX. Looks like the biggest difference was 5 phase vs 10 phase and only a 4 pin power for the cpu. Even with a decent overclock i wouldn't think 5 would have a problem. But i will find out soon.
And it does have CF support but its not a real benefit since the second slot is 4x and i'm not even going to bother. Maybe a physx card though?
Actually, he's right. I called ASUS tech and the women recording you listen to while they put you on hold called it 'Asoos.' It sounds odd and 'Asus' sounds much better, but it's true.

does the intel i3 530 2.93GHZ work with this board?
eirik1122 1 year ago 6
socket 1156 supports all corei3,corei5 and corei7 800 series processor
so definetly this mobo will support the i3 530 but ONE THING! The builtin graphics inside the cpu wont work with the p55 chipset
If you want to use the internal graphics of the i3 530 you will have to get a h55 motherboard.

danielengstrom72 2 years ago
You mean almost clockspeed x2 and 2 GB?
Explain urself. If thats what I think ur saying, this is awesomely :D
magichristo 2 years ago
I use two ati radeon 4850 1gb in crossfire in my system.
The MB has one x16 pci-e slot and one x4 pci-e slot.
By obvious reasons the x16 slot uses 100% of the performance of the card and the x4 slot uses up to 95% of the performance of the other card or more.
If i would use better graphics it would naturally use lesser of its capacity due to the limitations of the x4 slot but not much at all.
Do you understand?
danielengstrom72 2 years ago
@danielengstrom72 Yes, thank you!
Now heres another question: If I've got 5850 x2 crossfired in dual x8 mode(Because the motherboard supports 1 card at x16 and two at x8) How much less performance will I get?

Linus, have you noticed the funky new RAM slots on the new ASUS boards? Something to do with easier access when long cards are present.
@forerunner5699, yeah it's light, but c'mon, they could have thrown a few more connectors on the back for an extra 5 bucks.

the ram slots on asus boards do not have the clips that other motherbaords have so i don't think it will block access for longer cards
