  • This board gave me no end of problems. Turns out you have to make sure the Bios version is compatible with the technical revision of your CPU. You can update the bios to accept newer CPUs, BUT you need a default compatible cpu to update the bios. Big catch 22.

  • why is it 4:3 720p

  • Can you use ddr2 ram on this motherboard of only ddr3??

  • @NubPredator only DDR 3

  • I'll have to dig out my manual but I have this board and I'm pretty sure it said it supported crossfire - that said I'm more likely to replace it with a better board than buy a second card, need to prioritise, especially now 1156 is being superseded.

  • What ever happened to detailed videos? you seem to rush through them now.

  • i have this mobo xD got a i5 760 2.80ghz OC to 3.51ghz :P ddr3 mem 1600mhz ocz gold.

  • @monroe111 XD

  • your voice is awesome, its so non threatening lmao, from one nerd to another great job.

  • I know this board doesn't support SLi, but does it support an Nvidia setup wth a dedicated PhysX card?

I would prefer not to replace my P7P55D LE.

  • Does this support DDR2 or only DDR3 ram?

  • @Brudof

    p55 supports DDR3 ram sir

  • does an intel i3 540 works?????

i read that i5 i7 works but i dont know if a i3 will work.....

PLZ GIVE ME AN ANSWER !!!

  • @toilettboy12345

try to go to asus site and see for CPU support.

i guess it will run the 540 but. the down side

u cant use d graphics built it with your 540 cpu.

just go fo a h55 board

  • @toilettboy12345 yes of course ^

  • lol you see linus moving the southbridge!

  • I got mine screw up not even a year yet now , is like couple of weeks , it just shut down automatically

  • i have the same mobo and it has Xfire support.. are u sure that the mobo u are reviewing dosent have Xfire support???

  • Are you sure that you can't use Crossfire???? i've read that on this Motherboard you can do Quad CrossfireX....

    Sorry for my bad English

  • Hey Friend! whats means "LE" in this version of motherboard..I have it but I don't know means...sorry for my english. Cheers from Argentina!!!

  • Maaaan you were sooooo rushed back then, i'm glad you've calmed a little down and are giving it a lot more time these days =)

  • So is this ok for gaming?

  • @progunnerboi Yes its great for the price its awesome if you put a i7 on it or a high core i5

  • @ultragaming1993 I switched to EVO version cause this board cant use crossfire or SLI at the fasterest speed.. Though i dun need it now maybe i will need it next time for upgrading.

  • hi i have this board, ive just got myself a ssd 240gb ocz vertex 2 and i tested it with the hd tune and the write speed was around 127 :( , my question is did i connected it to the correct s-ata cable 3gb or there is another gb/s cable that i should connect it to it?

  • @korgpadude Maybe you have some CPU energy saving settings active on BIOS, they cap performance of SSDs.

  • You talk fast dude :D

  • Anyone tried crossfire 5770 with this board? im planning to do it. im wondering if the X4 slot is going to make any real difference and if its worth the cost

  • i have this board and it does support crossfire and sli

  • @RiversideMFCK Are you sure it supports SLi?

Does this board support it or not?... I feel like an idiot buying this cheap board 6 months ago, now I want SLi badly i dont know if this board can run it or not.

  • @ThorTheCommenter

You guys tend to pronounce a lot of things wrong.

  • once i pressed the memOK button on this thing and it only read 2gb after XD

  • when say sata do u mean sata as in 4 dvd rw cd drives and hd drives and stuff .btw if u have read my other comments im new to building computers

  • does this support the GTX 285?

  • This card does support Crossfirex but it doesn't support sli, I would know I have this mobo.

  • does the intel i3 530 2.93GHZ work with this board?

  • socket 1156 supports all corei3,corei5 and corei7 800 series processor

so definetly this mobo will support the i3 530 but ONE THING! The builtin graphics inside the cpu wont work with the p55 chipset

If you want to use the internal graphics of the i3 530 you will have to get a h55 motherboard.

  • Yes :)

  • @eirik1122 Nope only the Core i5, Core i7

  • @eirik1122 as long as its an 1156 cpu it will fit, so to answer your question, yes :)

  • @eirik1122 yes.

  • NICE NICE :)

  • Check the Asus page dude.

  • •Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support!

  • The memory G-SKILL KHX1600C9D3K2 is compatible ?

  • this thing actually supports the i7, but only the 8xx series not the 9xxx series.

  • Sure it has support for crossfire.

  • a very bad crossfire support.

    Weak!

  • What are you talkin about?

    I have 95% speed on my x4 slot with my 2 4850.

  • You mean almost clockspeed x2 and 2 GB?

Explain urself. If thats what I think ur saying, this is awesomely :D

  • I use two ati radeon 4850 1gb in crossfire in my system.

The MB has one x16 pci-e slot and one x4 pci-e slot.

By obvious reasons the x16 slot uses 100% of the performance of the card and the x4 slot uses up to 95% of the performance of the other card or more.

If i would use better graphics it would naturally use lesser of its capacity due to the limitations of the x4 slot but not much at all.

    Do you understand?

  • @danielengstrom72 Yes, thank you!

Now heres another question: If I've got 5850 x2 crossfired in dual x8 mode(Because the motherboard supports 1 card at x16 and two at x8) How much less performance will I get?

  • @magichristo Check tomshardware or any other site with detailed charts on the subject.

    Or join any computer forum.

I am sure you will find an answer.

  • Lol, he is like throwing the motherboard around like it a fucking toy

  • does this board supports i3 cpus?

  • Correction: it does support ati crossfire pci2.0 1 x16 @ x16mode & 1 x16 @ x4mode

    but no sli

  • Friend, I ask you a favor but if you do I'll be your number one fan! It unboxing Asus Maximus III Gene

  • why they put 2 pci expressand it doesnt support sli or crossfire?

  • I just finished by new computer build CPU: Intel i7 860 Motherboard: Asus P7P55D LE RAM: 2gb Kingston 1333 DDR3 HDD: WD Green Power 500gb ODD: Lite-On iHas324 DVD-RW GPU: nVidia GT220 1gb GDDR3 Case: Cooler Master Elite 334 PSU: Gigabyte Superb 550 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit I combined it with a Logitech Newtouch 200 ,a Logitech B100 and Norton Internet Security 2010 and BAM! It's the best computer I've ever built (It's the only computer I ever built).
  • @andyw412rs hey can you help me whit something i am planing on making my own pc i am using the same Motherboard: Asus P7P55D LE but the thing is that idk what case can i use for that motherboard ? cus every case has it.s own set up in the back but the motherboard has alot more usb and stuff that the case seem to not have ? plz i need your help i was planing to use Cooler Master Elite 330 Black ATX Mid-Tower would that case do ?

  • That case would be fine. The I/O board included with your case doesn't actually fit your motherboard, you have to remove it and put in the one included with the motherboard. Any case that supports ATX motherboards will do fine.

  • LOL xD

  • What's the black thing in the 8-pin CPU power socket?

  • onthis board if you do not have a 8 -pin you can use the 4-pin but

  • I am lucky i got this board. It's not really expensive compared to those higher end boards. But it's only USB 2.0. Now USB 3.0 is out, i can get higher end board + USB 3.0 and 6GB SATA. :D

  • I would not worry about that, I also just bought a gigabyte that is not usb 3.0, but so far there are many USB 3.0 devices besides the mobo that bring only feature 2 usb 3.0 ports so if you want those two USB 3.0 ports best shopping usb 3.0 card pciex x1 for your current mobo, and one more thing, intel will no give support to usb 3.0 until 2011

    sorry for my shitty english

  • I went with cheapest version the LX. Looks like the biggest difference was 5 phase vs 10 phase and only a 4 pin power for the cpu. Even with a decent overclock i wouldn't think 5 would have a problem. But i will find out soon.

And it does have CF support but its not a real benefit since the second slot is 4x and i'm not even going to bother. Maybe a physx card though?

  • "A couple of PCI Express ports, but we don´t have support for CF or SLI in this particular board"

Good review, but that is wrong, the Asus P7P55 Le support CF, not SLI.

    CF - Yes

    SLI - No

    Bye bye

  • Yup.

  • And the CF is 16x/4x which sucks.

  • Actually, he's right. I called ASUS tech and the women recording you listen to while they put you on hold called it 'Asoos.' It sounds odd and 'Asus' sounds much better, but it's true.

  • lol I just about pee'd myself when I heard Linus say Asoos! I wonder if he drives a Toyota Celeeca? :P Sometimes I just feel embarrassed for my countrymen for the way they pronounce things...oh yes, 30 million can be wrong lol

  • "Asoos" is the correct pronunciation, not a Candianism.

Go check out one of the videos made by Asus themselves and I guarantee you they pronounce it this way. I've heard Asus VPs call it "Asoos"

    ;)

  • Would you guys say that this mobo is better than the Gigabyte P55 UD3?

I basically have to choose between the 2 for my new pc setup but i dunno wich one i should go for.

    Could someone enlight me plz.

(btw i'm not really into gaming...i just want a fast stable durable multipurpose pc)

  • Nice vid

  • Oh lawd, I didnt take the case sticker out of the motherboard box, I didnt even notice it, but in this video I saw it D:

  • There is crossfire support....

  • I got mine today, its faulty, v,gay! Luckily they're gna replace it!

  • is it inbuild soundcard??

    please reply...

    thxnxxx

  • yes

  • no SLI? so the other PCI-e is for physX?

  • core i5 is really no better than core2quad that board will be hard to get a good oc on it doesnt even have an 8pin eps12v conector

  • The Core i5 is currently just ahead of the Q9650 and, suggest you watch it again, as it does have an 8pin...

  • yea just saw that

  • Actually this supports crossfire.

  • this has crossfirex support... u can crossfire with this board. o and its 8+2 phase power

  • Wow dude you did your review outside Thats F*cken COOL :>)

  • Pretty sure thats not how to pronounce Asus but never mind! I am enjoying your outdoor unboxings, keep up the good work.

  • Yes, that's how you pronounce ASUS. Nice vid.

  • That's "8+2 Phase Power Design ", actually.

  • this board looks like the one for me. I dont need any of the fancy stuff that the 200+ come with

  • Linus, have you noticed the funky new RAM slots on the new ASUS boards? Something to do with easier access when long cards are present.

@forerunner5699, yeah it's light, but c'mon, they could have thrown a few more connectors on the back for an extra 5 bucks.

  • the ram slots on asus boards do not have the clips that other motherbaords have so i don't think it will block access for longer cards

  • wow...so bare bones compared with the Gigabytes you've showed lately.

Actually, I just bought my first Gigabyte mobo from NCIX back in June. I'm very impressed so far, especially with the BIOS compared to my ASUS. I could still go either way though as my ASUS was a rock solid board as are the others I've built systems on. Can't go wrong either way.

  • its a "light edition" according to linus

  • I need to upgrade my mobo, should I wait until USB 3.0 and PCI-E 3.0 or just upgrade now?

  • Just upgrade now and put away a little money each week until those are released.

  • pci-e 3.0 might be someything to wait for but you could always just buy usb 3.0 hubs

  • also noticed you can do a video without the trucks in the bg

  • orly

  • Nice board, thanks for the vid
