Great ship for longer voyages. Did a 20 day cruise in 2010 and are going back in 2012 for more. Loved the food, friends we made and our cabin. Plaza Ocean view was so good, especially when it was a little rough - next time we are in a forward facing cabin with a resticted use balcony and can't wait. Know it might be a bit rougher but WooHoo! bring it on!!
This ship now Departs from Seattle, WA Cruise Ship Terminal which is a newer and cheaper way to cruise to Alaska, Panama Canal or Australia. It is replacing all Canadian departures like the Carnival Spirit which now departs from seattle, and both The Norwegian Star and Pearl now Depart from Seattle exept for 2 cruises from Vancouver! GO SEATTLE!!!
They are not even turbines. Having been on the ship and being up close to them. They appear to have no function at all. My best guess is that they are just a housing for other equipment.

The back of the ship is not loud at all, in fact that is where the most expensive and grandest suites are located!
