I wonder what Christian Bale's real accent is, in another interview from when he's a kid it has a strong London twang, here it's a lot posher, even today it changes in each interview what a chameleon.
How the critics hated this movie is beyond me. A story mainly based on actual events, great cinematography, a moving score by John Williams, Spielberg's direction and of course, oscar-worthy performances by a young Christian Bale and John Malkovich made this one of the greatest movies ever.
He was brilliant in this film!!!! but i just wanted to fucking kick him cause of how annoying he was in some parts of the film, stupid retard, but good acting, totally!!!
It's a fantastic film and Christian Bale is an incredible actor. Infact I am surprised Scorsese hasn't used him yet...how he didn't win an Oscar for this and that Anna Paquin did for The Piano still remains a mystery to me.
Spielberg movies are the best, and this one really is the best war movie in a humans perspective view. War as witnessed by a boy and struggling for survival.. great,,,just great,....tHANKS

I don't think people want to give him credit because of his looks. I think some people would like to put attractive people in the bimbo box. In this case, you can not. He was brilliant as a kid and he's brilliant now. I remember not wanting to give Brad Pitt a chance. But he's great.
Yeah, sometimes being too good looking can be kinda disadvantage for a serious actor, who wants to be rewarded for his talent and not only for his appearence. On the other hand, his gorgeous look gave him the chance to play many roles that he couldn't have got if he wasn't handsome (Patrick Bateman, Bruce Wayne, Dieter Dengler ...). I guess some people are just envious because Christian is the full package and they can't accept it!

I'm not gonna be popular here, but i think Christian Bale is an asshole, just like the asshole of American Psycho. And a far as Batman goes, if it wasn't for Heath Ledger as the Joker, i don't think i would have gone to see the movie.

He's a nice, down to earth guy, with a great sense of humour and an amazing talent for acting. He's also a doting family man and he's stll leading a simple life, despite the success he's achieved. You never see his name on gossip magazine and all the directors/actors he has worked with speak highly of him.Think before you write about things you don't know.

i JUST watched empire of the sun and I cried my eys out........ it is such a POWERFUL movie and It is now my favorite movie EVER except for maybie NEWSIES
christian bale would be the perfect candidate to play david cruise, the actor-come-fuhrer, in paul thomas anderson's screen adaptation of ballard's "kingdom come".
I didn't know P.T. Anderson was working on that project, it sounds great! I've also heard that Brad Anderson was planning to adapt Ballard's Concrete Island and cast Christian Bale for the role of Maitland. I hope it wasn't just a rumour!
It's more than awesome! It's one of the best Spielberg's movies (far underrated, indeed) and Christian Bale is gorgeous! He really should have won an Oscar for his awesome performance. You can't miss it!
