We took those subways so many times during our month in Piter. I can still hear the announcer's voice in my head, and the kids still get a kick out of saying that phrase at the end.
I was on this escalator just two months ago. It was unbelievable! Not boring at all for a tourist. Anyone know if it's the longest escalator in the world? St. Petersburg rocks! I can't wait to go back!
@007cupcake007 Due to the city's unique geology, the Saint Petersburg Metro is one of the deepest subway systems in the world and the deepest by the average depth of all the stations.
Notice how you have to keep your hand nice and loose on the handrail. This is because the handrails are completely out of sinc with the stairs on the St Petersburg Metro escalators.
Really? But some of them (Ploshchad Lenina for example) are so out of sinc its like ive never seen before. This is not a criticism - I loved living in St Petersburg for three years!

This does go to show why I've never stood on the escalator at Ladozhskaja all the way down when I've been on my own, I always get bored! :)

No offense, mate, but how come you spent so much time on the escalator when the stations are so much cooler? Just saying,
Of coruse, if you wanted to drive home the point that St. Petersburg subway is, indeed, very big, then I understand.
