Who the fuck said back pressure aids spooling? Seriously, you dont want the backpressure to slow down the turbo, thats why you get a BOV to remove the backpressure so you dont fuck up your turbo, Turbo's like to move one direction, not two.
do you guys realize how many drag cars run a tiny 1 foot pipe straight from the turbo? and there usually making the low numbers on the strip so that prooves you dont need back pressure....
@xXTurboEGXx because turbos make there own backpressure. they generate the most in higher rpms. those drag cars are constently hitting high rpms gear after gear. they run like shit if u drive it like a normal car cuz ur not letting run full out that inturn creates backpressure
There needs to be a small amount of backpressure to hold HEAT.. so your theory is off dude.
There are always compromises in exhaust and vaccuum.
Turbos generate some backpressure at high RPM, but not low.. so Spool time is NOT effected till then.
Good vacuum can be accentuated by a small amount of backpressure to increase cylinder filling as the exhaust pulses on opposite cylinders create VACCUUM even during exhaust.
the turbo doesnt need back pressure the engine does, the turbo supplies all the backpressure the engine needs, and the reason it is shutting off isnt due to a tune, its due to the fact that there is no o2 sensor sending the ecu anything for any sort of fuel maps. the no downpipe thing is a great way to fubar the brake MC/booster
wow dranoboy, i really could tell how well you know turbo ka's or any car for that matter. for your info the reason it shut off was due to to it not having a tune. it was running the stock ecu, 750cc injectors, no piggy back or rom tune. by the way you don't need back pressure to keep it running.
not a stroker tho. the motor turbos really well, using the massive mid RPM power of the ka to spool a turbo and fire out high rpm power too, its pretty cool
First of all as a KA BUILDER, this guy does have a very nice set up, its always nice to see other people not going SR so GOOD JOB. Second of all I was stating was the obious and third you clearly have no idea what the fuck your talking about so shut your bitch ass up because you dont know shit about KA's, your just adopted and parents dont even love you
it aint gona run right without that 02 sensor, at least the rich to lean mix....and second, that shit is going to give you brake fade, dangerous shit. Wheres that back pressure? lol
This is the inaugural crank. The oxygen sensor is of course essential, but not when your just firing it up. Second, N/A motors need back pressure, turbo's need free flowing exhaust.
Does anyone seriously think after all that work and money they are incompetent enough to NOT use an exhaust system?
Do some more comprehensive research and you will find that NO motor no matter what requires back pressure. If you have any back pressure at all that means the exhaust system still has room for improvement. You want exhaust gas velocity not back pressure.
are you fucking stupid? backpressure hurts spool. heat and exhaust flow aid spooling... the expansion of hot gasses aid spooling.. the "car needs backpressure" myth is fucking stupid.
if a exhaust pipe is too large like say 4 inches on a tiny motor then the gas has time to cool down and cool gas is harder to move, so you gotta make the pipe smaller to get that gas flowing just the right speed
For a turbo that is not true. "The only wrong size exhaust is the one that dosent fit" quoted from modified mag. Personaly there is word going around that says the exhaust is to "free flowing" some of it will excape before it actualy does its work of spinning the turbine. I think thats a load of s if you ask me but who knows...

@z3r0zx1 the turbo actully does not spin in the reverse direction it actualy chops up the air going back in it to make that fluttering sound

Backpressure hurts spool, if in excess.
Such as full stock exhaust.
There needs to be a small amount of backpressure to hold HEAT.. so your theory is off dude.

dude this was like three years ago. and the car runs perfectly fine to this day. still has the same master too.;)

I think its really dumb that you have no downpipe on there at all. Also on a first startup, you should take it easy.
btw, get a heat shield for the BMC NOW!

makes the turbo sounds better tho but bad run a down pipe

you need back pressure or else when you let offf the gas its going to die and by the way it sounds like shit
