I bought this game off the playstation network with the PS3 I wondering if there is anyway to install this patch? The game is waaay to easy but too fun to play so I really want this patch!!
the original fft game on psx is just too easy :( i passed through it 4 times with all secret characters, armors and i finished deep dungeon lvl 49...HOW DID I PLAY 1.3 VERSION???
Great video, but where did you get your emulation of the game and how did you get it to work properly? Mine has problems, I.E. there is no sound on sword collisions and that there are large boxes of sand-looking stuff where text should be and sprites and text from other menus will appear on a different menu (like when I'm a chemist and choosing abilities, I go to reaction abilities and the text stays) as well as all of the names of city areas on the world being "Knight".
Awesome game, possibly my favorite game for the PS. I also played the GBA one, and yea, the two games are nothing alike. The fact is, I have no love for FFTA. I just flat-out didn't like anything about the game, and it's not because it was on the GBA either, it just seemed to kiddy I guess. I loved Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis though, a superior and overlooked game. But yea, FFT is badass and a good challenge, even without the 1.3 patch.
Woah, your playing 1.3 despite this bring your FIRST playthrough of FFT EVER? AND you're coming from FFTA? You got balls my friend =]
I guarantee you that this will be very challenging and fun. Plus the story is more enjoyable than FFTA. Have fun and good luck on your 1.3 playthrough ^_^
Oh yeah, and brave/faith. Brave and strength affects how much damage Monks, samurai and a few others do. It's mostly for reaction abilities. 65 Brave = 65% chance of that reaction ability occuring.
Faith affects how powerful your spells are, and how much damage you take from them. Higher faith = more power.
Your units are given random faith/brave. So I recommend getting rid of the units with low faith, and shop around until you can get one as close to the max of 70/70 as possible :3
- Mages have to have at least 65 Faith to be useful
- White Mage/Black mage combo is good. Protect, Raise, and level 1 black mage spells are all good and cheap
- A knight with full armor is good too
- Remember to check each town frequently for new equipment. Different town types have different stuff. Castle-towns (like Igros) have Knight and Archer stuff, etc
1.3 is much more balanced in terms of classes, abilities, and so forth. But it is more difficult. Think of the original version as "normal mode". 1.3 is "Hard mode".
The FFTA series is okay, but think of it as "FFT-mini". It's easier, smaller in scale, story isn't as epic, etc.
Make sure to understand the Job System, how to learn abilities (which is through your job, unlike FFTA), and which jobs work and don't work.

Ah, Tactics. Awesome game. Good luck going through it the first time on "Hard Mode," though.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I hate how you can't take a MOVE back, once you already move. That's just gay.

I have the PSP version of this game. WIll the patch work for that?

Alice would make a really good Mage. Geist would make a nice physical attacker (Monk, Knight, etc).

We definitely need the epic Throw Stone spellquote for this patch.

General early game tips:
- Give everyone battle boots and move +1
- Mages have to have at least 65 Faith to be useful
- White Mage/Black mage combo is good. Protect, Raise, and level 1 black mage spells are all good and cheap
- A knight with full armor is good too
- Remember to check each town frequently for new equipment. Different town types have different stuff. Castle-towns (like Igros) have Knight and Archer stuff, etc
- Ramza + black magic is good early game
- Give people item!

Good luck with 1.3
And hopefully, you can get used to the mechanics of FFT quickly, its a load different compared to FFTA in my opinion.

ok for some reason I found it hilrious when you tried to attack your own guy. But seriously, good luck.

Indeed. I seriously wish you luck with 1.3.
You're gonna need it. Trust me.
Beastly242 2 years ago
this is gonna be epic
fft 1.3 is designed for people who are already VERY familiar with FFT
best of luck
but you should be able to see strong builds sooner or later if you are used to the difficulty of FFTA SSCC
