They just don't make shows like this anymore! I love the attention to sci-fi military detail, the organization of fleets, ship drawings look real, actual battles not involving unbelievable creatures. You can enhance you imaginination from these shows. Today's cartoons leave me frustrated & mad, they are just too silly.
Holy crap, the Comet Empire's repair forces work just as fast as the Yamato's. You'd never know it was nearly destroyed after colliding with an exploding Telezart in the last episode.
This episode was the beginning of the end of Sabera (Invidia) and Goenitz (Dire). First the bad advice to f*** with Teresa (Trelaina) and then with the Dessler's/Desslok's escape.

Yuki is one amazing young woman. Several times through the series she was right there to just talk to a guy when he was having a emotional crisis. A fine quality.
It was clearly stipulated in Dessloks contract that he be no further than 20 feet away from a fourth demention switch....sadly three years after SBY was canceled,Desslok was involved in a fatal automobile crash involving Dessloks 1968 Corvette Stingray headon collision with a fully loaded Mack dumptruck.Witnesses said the Corvette was traveling at a high rate of speed and the dumptruck jumped and flattened the vette.Dessloks hand was found clutching a 4th demention switch. He will be remembered.
its a nice thought in theory. but in reality desslock DID hurt the comet empire in the end and in the end it was invidia's scheming with dire and gorce and zordars failure to believe desslock that led desslock, during the final battle with the argo, to realize that earth was the people he more easily identifies with, and that's when he gives the "hit them from the bottom" advice to wildstar
this i dont get......and i'm going to use the characters english names here. zordar is like a father figure to desslock, he picked him up in space near earth after his ship was destroyed at the end of series one....he seems to have compassion for him and the gamilons (a diffrent race from his) but zordars pattern thruout the universe was to conquer, occupy or destroy civilizations. it's likely if the star force hadnt recked gamilon in series one zordar would have gone there or iscandar next
I suspect Zordar simply admired Deslocks bravery and determination. Maybe he even felt a little sorry for the Gamilons Letting him fight his war with the Yamato certainly didn't cost the empire anything, plus it would mean the defeat of a potential threat. If things had gone the Empires way he probably would have offered to make Desslock a supreme commander or other high ranking position in the empire.
Zordar is not the person who could feel sorry for anything. He saw in Dessler and the Gamilusians a potential ally, that's why he resurrected him. And so far he was right, until Sabera's/Invidias's evil scheme. Note that Dessler still feels satisfied about having kept "His Majesty's Trust".
Why is it, however, that the Gamilusians are not just happy that their Soto has gone, and let him rot in Gatlantis? Or pretend not to have received Talan's call, and fire...
Not clear. The scout-ship that picked up Dessler from hyperspace seems already to have investigated Earth. The activation of a Cosmo-Cleaner certainly would attract their attention...?
The escape scene music is awesome. The U.S. version of the escape theme while basically the same is even better than this! A much more intense bass line and more of a disco sound in general. Still, this version is the next best thing for sure. I love it.
There is absolutely no music cooler than Deslok's theme throughout the second season of Star Blazers. You get to hear it once during the tunnel-asteroid episode, once here during his escape, and then one more time during the sneak-attack as the Star Force hurries home to Earth, and the music kicks serious ass every time. Thank you so much for posting this.
Officially this music is refered to as the DESLER ATTACK THEME.The disco version is only heard on two situations during Yamato2/Star Blazers, otherwise you'll only hear the symphonic version.
Dessler and the Emperor. The two excellent villains who know exactly what they're doing. This is what makes this show great.

Full credit to 'Space Battleship Yamato' but I like Desslok's sarcasm in the "Star Blazers" version better. This Deslar (Desslok) is little too dry.

Yet more proof that you can't keep a good commander down. . .unless you kill him with a truck when he least expects it.

I thought I could see a Comet Empire vs. Gamilus battle coming.

if these cartoons had been a little less good I might have passed fourth grade math...:)

that was a pretty lame escape by Dessler---the creators should have come up with something more believeable

Could someone direct me to an OST that has both of Desler/Desslok's theme songs? They kick ass so hard, the recipients face and ass switch places!

I didn't know this music was Desslok's theme music. I heard it in the following Yamato clip and now I realize it dates back to Season 2.
Search for "Final Yamato - Deslar saves the day. ( Star Blazers )" and you'll see what I mean.
