Here's how it could have worked better:

1.In the first movie when Gandalf goes to Minas Tirith he could have taken Frodo and same with him when he wanted to learn about the ring.

2. When Boromir returns to Gondor in the third movie He tells Gandalf that Frodo is alive and he's taking the road to Morgul Veil. Then Gandalf says and then the path of Tirith Ungol. Clearly Gnadalf knew about this.

3. Why not just take Frodo and Sam straight to that opath. Would have saved them a lot of time.
