Pastor fisk, you are basically a celebrity in my house, and I have asked my mother that our summer mini vacation be to your church =) Lets see what happens. You have made my walk into Lutheranism much easier, and I have actually begun advocating Lutheranism amongst my Christian, Evangelical, school friends. Keep up the awesome work =)
Pastor Fisk: Thank you for so clearly articulating the free grace of the Gospel in this video. I wish I had encountered the teachings of the Lutheran Church earlier when I was still caught up in American Evangelicalism. Your videos are full of grace and truth and I look forward to watching them every week!
Thank you Pastor Fitch! I so needed this one, I have been afraid of not (really) believing that my sins are forgiven...(What if I don't really believe it?...etc...Then they won't be forgiven.. am I REALLY sorry?) This episode was a great comfort to me. Rejoicing!!
I've has a friend who said that lying was a sin yet he did it. I realize this is hypocritical, but I am confused on where the Bible stands exactly on lying. People say that little white lies are okay, but are they? And is lying a sin if it is for the person's benefit? Please help me figure this out.
Hey Rev Fisk, think you can do anything about these "... and I'm a Mormon" advertizements constantly being at the top of the suggested videos column for all your videos? I'm sick of looking at them every time I load up a video of yours because like you, I hate false teaching.
I've been going through the whole library of WE video posts (yikes!). In one of those (no I don't remember which one) you expressed a hesitation to pronounce absolution within a video, and recommended that the e-mailer seek out a faithful pastor who would use the form for absolution in LSB. You did provide today's questioner absolution. What changed for you?
@Its1980Me I know I'm going to butcher this, but if you're a Lutheran or have read Luther's Small Catechism, you have to remember that Confession has two parts. First the sins are confessed and then absolution is pronounced by the pastor.
Since the individual asking the second question was inquiring about a friend of theirs, there really was no confession by that friend and thus no absolution was pronounced.
@Its1980Me What Jessep says is pretty much on. It depends on what you mean by absolution. All Chrisitans can proclaim a general absolution in Christ, and all Christians can personally forgive others. Holy Absolution more specifically is done in the stead of Christ, with Christ's command and authority. Lutherans have a standard formula which includes the Triune Name. I did not use that forumla. My intention was to say that I, personally, forgive, and to point to Christ's general forgiveness.
I can only hope to one day have the gift to explanation that you have. Very good Pastor, thanks for doing these videos week after week, I know the work involved must be great but it is a great blessing to all of us to have these short lessons every week.

You were only sick because your faith isn't strong enough. (Sarcasm!)
Glad you're back though. Missed you on Tuesday. Hopefully your next lightsaber battle won't take so much out of you.
