I love how the sword's sheath is Grendel's arm. Macabre as hell but it only is proper homage to the Beowulf's tale. Though Beowulf pulled off Grendel's arm, hence the arms shredded or ripped wound at the end.

Think about it: Tornado could be Iron Man, Flash could be Human Torch, Bats could be Wolverine, Canary and GA could be Jean Grey and Cyclops, and Manhunter could be pretty much anyone.
