This has been true in the case of some of the earliest dodecaphonic pieces. Even Schoenberg himself has been known to overhear wrong notes and in one case even an entire part!. But you play one note wrong in Wozzeck or Vermeulen's Third Symphony and it stands out LOUDLY. The same goes for this Piano Concerto. Though not for everyone. It is true that not many of us are capable of grasping 12 notes at the same time instead of just 7.
@carminum A problem in understanding 12tone music is that each composition has its own structural context, one which is mostly not recognised by the listener, whereas in diatonic music a composition can be tailored to an already existing set of documented principles like functional harmony.
Whether a piece of music is worthwhile listening to depends on the composer, no matter what system he composes in!
I guess there is not enough thanks towards @carminum for posting all these wonderful videos from recent prominent composers and players. how about this:carminum is the one who hooked me up with Cello Concertos by letting me finding the Shostakovich Cello Concerto 1, played by Han-Na Chang. I said wow, what i have been missing by concentrating only on violin and piano works! thanks your grace!

The best part about 12 tone music is that you can screw up and nobody will notice.
