  • yo what kind a skippy these white boyz doing??? That is the grind-proper!

  • I have vinyl records that are 50+ years old that are not deteriorating at all. For instance the classic record 'The Exotic sounds of Martin Denny, FORBIDDEN ISLAND is from 1958, looks and plays like new. I seek out organ music because I play the organ, like- 'Mr. Fantastic and the Wonderful World of Wurlitzer'.

I have a 'Cardinal Records' that must be extremely rare because I can't find it anywhere- 'Harry Wach, Californian Here I Come' Stereo 12 CVS 502

Any way to find out how many pressed?

  • only 2 in existence

  • That Frank Wilson single may be the best Motown record that wasn't even recorded in Detroit!

  • A copy went for 26,000 pound a month a so ago...wicked tune..ENJOY

  • hmm, let's review the nonsense being spouted here. First, most of these artists wouldn't have made another nickel whether northern soul existed or not. Second, the music most of them made would have been completely forgotten and lost forever without northern soul. Third, the buying markets for all of these records are driven almost entirely by the DJ's, Manship, and most importantly Ebay. Rare in anything sells, and this is one record that deserves every penny.

  • What would a ten pence in the pound doanation from door proceeds of all the Northern Soul dances since the early 70's have done for many of the soul singers that never made it, and their familes?

  • Surely the modern day US R&B warbelers and hip hop artists who sample these records are in a far better position to support the originals, than the northern soul buying and music loving people of the UK!.

The blame lies fairly and squarely in the US (record company owners/promoters)for the exploitation of soul singers.

  • The right thing to do with this record is to pour petrol on it and set fire to it. WIth the tens of millions of pounds spent on Northern Soul 45's and the soul scene, how has this ever really benefited all but a tiny fraction of the artists writers and producers that made the music in the first place? I don't have a problem with that but a lot of Northern Soul collectors and DJ's should stop banging on about how much they care about all these artists. Keep the faith!

  • there are rare and expensive records in all genres, its just the way it is and it certainly doesnt mean djs or collectors dont care about the artists. Look at how many of these forgotten artists have since been brought to northern soul events to gain the recognition they deserve... brought by many djs and collectors.............

  • The fact that the rare soul scene is still going and being kept going by die hard collectors means that these guys recordings live on. Thats what matters! I wont name names but my dad was one of a few collectors who paid for a ex soul singer to come to the UK to perform, the artist is a janitor in the US now and cried on stage when singing as he had no idea his recordings means so mush to so many. Collectors do care.

  • @cmomofilm There are so many souls cleaning up after the math of men and singing to the halls of cement. If we could all here them at once I think so many welts would pop up that a new human emotion would be discovered. I think its great your pops called this soul singer up. It probably made both of their life times.

  • Watching that made me nervous with that rare record hanging over the edge of that display stand.

  • Who the hell's Frank Wilson? novel by Pete Mckenna (author of NIGHTSHIFT)

    possible film in the works.

    lock,stock and northern soul! ...

  • went for £26000 at auction.

  • I believe Kenny is about to sell it, (according to an article in The Times).

  • Kennys selling it because hes decided to stay local (Scotland) when dj'ing from now on. Its on John Manships auction site now, with 14 days to go its at £19,518! Its expected to go for £50,000 - £75,000.

  • Kenny Tells us of Knowledge required when purchasing exspensive rare American import Soul

& Lucky to have rarest of all time in Frank Wilsons Do I Love You(Indeed I Do)45 record.

"You Know I Love You GIRL!"

  • He is wrong when he says this is the rarest record of all time though, In spite of all the danger/That'll be the day by the Quarrymen and Elvis's first Sun recording are both much rarer but this is a far better recoed than both!

  • Listen back.... he says within the northern soul scene!!

  • Apparently Kenny has hung up the headphones and is no longer djing. The last Kings Hall being his last gig.

May I say the few times I've heard him play - he's played excellent sets. I also had the pleasure to meet him at Rimini soul weekender a couple of years ago.

A great character who'll be missed.

  • I dont think he has.

  • I think you're right. Not a bad thing though is it!

  • God no, kennys great!

  • Frank wilson offerd kenny £3o,ooo the same weekend kenny bought it for £15,000!

  • Kenny Burrell - a true gentleman.

May own the most expensive record in the world but always got time to chat and share his knowledge.

  • An interesting video. Love the archive wigan footage at the end. Seen it b4, but this clip actually is in time with the music for a change. Great stuff!
