I'm in the process of thinking of idea's like this to do for my cats. But my biggest problem is i live in an older house with all plasture and slates.. no sheet rock with 16 1/2" on center for the studs. My house it's almost impossible to find the studs and there not all evenly spaced it's a pain to find good anchor spots..

We sawed some of the shelves in half or in thirds to make smaller shelves.

how did you make that last shelf so small? I was at IKEA yesterday for hours trying to find small boards. I want to build something similar to what you did but your shelves are too long.
