In no way shape or form does that book even suggest to feed a child nothing but scraps of bread and water for 6 months and put them out in the back yard for days, or shower with the garden hose naked in front of the family in the middle of winter in zero degrees. They are other ways to discipline a child than physically harming them. I mean as a parent how do you see a child in crying and fearful and you keep on hitting them seriously are you kidding me that's just sickening

Eh, I'd spank the crap outta my kids if they ran in the street, bit, hit, etc. Though, with temper tantrums, ignoring it is best. The plumbing tube thing, though? How the heck did they come up with that?? My mom spanked me with a wooden spoon, but a plumbing tube??? That's just strange. I think that this dude is getting a little too much flack for the parents that killed their kids, though. The book didn't make them do it, the fact that they were insane made them kill their kids.

Some people are stupid I swear so stupid do they have brain really. I do believe in spanking but how can't you just have your own thoughts as parents and know when you are killing your child !!! I mean I just don't understand what they have in mind for not knowing when to stop !!!

I understand getting one or maybe two swats when absolutely necessary i.e when child does something that is potentially very dangerous. But continual, systematic beatings are AWFUL and will mentally destroy the child and will have a profound negative impact on their adult lives.

Michael Pearl has a Bach of Science degree from Crichton College in Tennessee. However, according to the No Greater Joy ministries website, "Though holding a BS from Crichton College, when Michael is asked for his credentials on child training he points to his five children."

The man has NO formal training in child development and holds no credentials in that or child psychology, yet he promotes himself as an expert in child rearing because he's raised five of his own.

Michael and Debi Pearl have no business teaching anyone about raising children.

lawyers, professionals and people who are highly educated denounce this book and Michael Pearl and He and a few fundys agree with it. I know which way i'd err.
