It will help build up the muscles of the chest. But to lose the man boobs you need to get rid of the excess bodyfat through diet and cardio in addition to your weight training.
@svsocalbro for manboobs you want to do Dips or decline benchpress, that will work the lower chest where manboobs form around the breast tissue, also you want to loose bodyfat get as lean as possible and work your lower chest..you look a lot better
thanks bro, god i cant seem to fill in the upper chest area. its a really stubborn area to exercise haha. thanks again for the vid man. very helpful:D
lol....... someone is confused. Those or Declined pushups. Hence your body being in a declined position. Declined pushups are for upper pectorals, while inclined pushups are for lower pectorals.
hey dude i do around 140 inclined push ups by 20 a set every alternate days ,,,, do u think that will help me to get bulk in my arms? or it would just reshape my arms? . shd i reduce or increase the number of pushups? i need to bulk up in my triceps plz help me out
Basically if you look at this upside down, you will notice he's pushing upwards, using the upper chest (and obviously other muscle groups), of course this is correct.
Broseph, thanks man. This is one of the best tips for comfort and targeting I've seen yet for the upper chest. I did this at the end of my routine this morning and could feel the pump in my upper chest. Thanks again.
when i started working out i could barley do 10 and its three months later and i now do 200-250 every other day. i have alot to do and dont get to go to the gym very much and push ups alone keep your body in shape and really transform your body more than you think. once you can bust out 25 like nothing its fun to challenge yourself to your max. and they have transformed my body dramatically. its no wonder the military makes them do push ups all the time. it gets you fit. thanks for the vid
You aren't doing anything wrong, push ups work the chest, shoulders, and triceps. So if you are feeling it more in your shoulders that could mean they are the weakest link.
Feeling soreness means you're pushing your body pass it's regular limit, which tells your muscles to grow. Do not exercise when you are sore. Leave it for a couple days (or exercise for a different set of muscles) and make sure you get sleep and drink water so it grows. Continuous exercise in the same area without the needed rest will hinder your muscles speed in growth.
if people think this is for lower pecs you need to never give anybody advice. I believe the best trainers are bodybuilders as I myself was trained by one
How does this work upper pecs? Decline bench press works lower pecs? Please help I am in need of some upper chest exercises as many chest exercises hurt my neck. Do think that chest dips and decline pushups would be good enough for chest?
Holy fuck, there are alot of simple people here. The man said it is a VARIATION of the incline chest workout. You maybe going downward which is why you would think "Oh, he is declining which means he is targeting his lower chest" The angle places all the force to the most bottom part of your body which is your upper chest. Do this workout yourself before you run your mouth. Simple case of ass-u-me here.
Before shooting me down you should re-evaluate what you are saying. Because obviously you don't understand what you are saying. Just look at the angle your arms are pressing at when doing this exercise. It's the same angle as you are pressing when doing an incline bench press, NOT a decline bench press.
@Sasquatched23 this is an incline pushup for sure man, at the screenshot it looked decline to me too but after i watched the vid i saw it was his feet on the bench lol
lol......listen to Lee! When inclining you torso your are doing an upside-down DECLINE BENCHPRESS! When declining your torso, you are doing an upside-down INCLINE BENCHPRESS!
If you cant visualize what I have written here....you need to get into the gym and complete these exercises.
To people that think this does lower chest: Think about it, if your body is 100% vertical and you are upside down and you do push ups, that works out your shoulders.
@TheSuperSyhr but seriously... UPPER CHEST!! its the exact same exercise in terms of joint movement as incline bench press, lower chest would be elevating the shoulder joint above the legs :)
ok gawd its a decline pushup with the same effectiveness as incline benching, so decline pushup incline effectiveness, either way it works doesn't really matter what it is just do it
I was confused as to whether or not this was inclined or declined. I tried it and it does indeed target the upper chest area therefore, I've concluded that it is in fact inclined.
Is there such a thing as too much of an incline for the upper pecs? When I do incline pushups I elevate my feet really high. Like 4 feet off the ground.
Thanks for the video! Ive been doing inclines for a while now and found out I was slightly doin them wrong. I didnt bring my chest down as I did more my head. this was an eye opener for me! Thanks! One question I do have when doing crunches and ab work outs is, is it good to feel a slight strain in your neck while your coming up for a rep? I dont even put my hands behind my head/neck, but hold them behind my ears and I still feel a slight strain. What am I doing wrong?
@atlkinkyboi Get over yourself. Maybe he put incline instead of decline but the push ups he is showing here do the UPPER chest. Its just like (as he said) an incline bench press that also do the upper chest.
Maybe if you got off your ass and did some of these with proper form you would feel that it works the upper chest.
@atlkinkyboi If you feel them in your lower pecs then your not doing them properly, end of. The fact you said, no SHOUTED, "OLE FUCK FACE ASS LIL BOY" (not sure what that means by the way) would point the majority of adults to the assumption that your are a child that is living out his dreams of being a man by trying to act tough on the internet. Just wait a few years and being a grown up will come naturally.
A feet elevated push up will work the upper chest, shoulders and triceps. FACT.
Lee hayward those ARE DECLINE PUSH UPS FOR THE LOWER CHEST. I THOUGHT FOR A LIFE TIME THEY WERE INCLINES ALSO BUT GOOGLE IT AND IT WILL SHOW YOU A PIC OF INCLINE YOUR HANDS ARE HIGHER THAN YOUR FEET GOOGLE HOW TO DO INCLINE PUSH UPS

@leemhayward how come every video on youtube saids this is a decline pushup. Wow im confused ima just do them, where ever i feel pain guess thats where im working out lol.
@leemhayward His personal trainer is right these are decline push-ups because your body is going in a downward angle thats why they are called decline and they are for the lower chest. :)
You are right in that the body is in a decline position, but it's an upper chest exercise. Look at the angle of the arms when they are pushing away from the body, it's just like an incline bench press. Keep in mind with a bench press you are facing up, with a push up you are facing down. Just try it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
@leemhayward do you think that doing a good couple sets of decline push ups are as good as working out with weights? Iv'e been doing push ups for years, pretty much every workout..good video btw
this is an excellent variation of the incline push-up that targets the UPPER CHEST area of course.Thank you sir.I'm not sure why some people feel the need to make statements about things they don't have a clue of.
@imilkdude decline my friend! it's the opposite of incline actually... decline on a bench for example means ur upper body has to be lower to the floor than ur lower body so ur legs are up on the bench and ur upper body is closer to the floor, i doubt you could do those with pushups
@theman1860 aww i was looking for cheap ways to just maintain a nice healthy body without going to the gym :/ got the abs sorted but i just want a nice outline on my chest w/o using any equips except for weights and a pull up bar
this guy is wrong. he is doing a decline pushup. an incline pushup has the legs lower than the upper body and the head higher. the hands come out further than the shoulders as well. the DECLINE pushup is what this guy is showing an example of.
I'm surprised that someone in such great shape would actually do a push-up demonstration with flat palms on the ground. Doing that is terrible for your wrist. I know from experience.
the first minute of this video is totally pointless. sorry... WHO CARES about you doing pushups before or your martial arts shite. crap. just SHOW the fucking information about the damn pushup and lets all move on with our fucking lives. @kam247 why does that make you laugh your ass off...? are you a bit gay or something??! always laughing? need some penis up there to help quieten u down? Now whose laughing bitch!!
push ups definitely work your abs. start doing push ups everyday for two three months, you will start to see your middle section tightening up. but it definitely does not work your lower abs.
But i do have a criticism on your blastyourbench motto of adding 51 lbs to your bench in 3 weeks...i have to say that is nearly impossible, I'm sorry. Very unrealistic. Some lucky few MIGHT be able to do it with extremely good genetics, amazing diet and rapid recuperation, or on some type of steroid.
Scooby1961 always taught me to look out and be skeptical with these kinds of things :)
I need an exercise that will will work the side of my chest, the part between the chest and the armpit. If you could show me an exercise that will work this area, that would really help. Thanks. I've been watching your videos and I've subscribed to your newsletter and I'm getting very good results. Once again thanks a lot.
Lee, I like your stuff, but saw your before and after picture on one of those side bar advertisements for some Acai pill and and another pill for the muscle pump. It had your face blocked out but claimed you went from your before ("noodle arm") picture to a present picture of you in 8 weeks...That is a bunch of BS so if you posted that, be a little more honest. But regardless, I like what you have to say and watch all of your videos
He probably didn't know, there have been a lot of stories lately on how they have been faking those pictures and taking random people off of facebook and stuff like that and using them in those ads. It's sad. I have been doing Lee's workouts for about 7 months now and I have increased my bench 70lbs. He's the real deal.
I figured you weren't one for that. I had to find a place (this link) to tell you in case you wanted to do something about it. I'll have to find it again but I'll be sure to let you know
Keep us all posted if you don't mind Lee! Get those bastards. That crap pisses me off. I mean, there's enough punk fitness models out there that will pose for anything that pays them a dime, why do they have to go and steal pictures? Friggen ridiculous!
how do you feel about "the perfect push-up?" it works the chest well and may be better than regular push-ups. I have been wondering which is more efficetive?
Good idea on the pads! I do these before my chest routine for pre-exhaustion and do them with a 4:1 tempo, so a 4-count down/ 1-count up. Do this tempo and do not lock-out at the top. Try this and you will really feel it work! ;-)

how do you get the clear line between the bicep and the tricep?
what do you do about stretch marks?
and what is the best weight for bench press chest growth and bicep curls growth?
thank you
VeterinKid 7 months ago
@VeterinKid
To get lines you need to lose bodyfat and get your skin really thin so you can see the muscle definition underneath.
Stretch marks are just a part of the game. I don't do anything about them, they'll fade with time and become less noticeable.
For growth you should lift a weight that allows you to get 8-10 reps with good form.

push ups definitely work your abs. start doing push ups everyday for two three months, you will start to see your middle section tightening up. but it definitely does not work your lower abs.

i thought this exercise works out my lower chest, man I was so dumb.
createaccount2009 2 years ago
nice video.

Push ups dont work your abs
atlmycity2 2 years ago
if you can do 1000 pushups at once,
then even your abs will feel it.
libed91 2 years ago
yes push ups do work your abs you just have to do high reps shoot for 1000 push ups and then youll see

I need an exercise that will will work the side of my chest, the part between the chest and the armpit. If you could show me an exercise that will work this area, that would really help. Thanks. I've been watching your videos and I've subscribed to your newsletter and I'm getting very good results. Once again thanks a lot.

it seems whenever i do inclince fly's and really stretch it, i usually feel it in that area
zachskates15 2 years ago
did you mean the muscle that is connected to your shoulder or the muscle that is actually in your armpit?
the muscle that connects to your should you can do DB or cable flys...the armpit area the best would be pull-ups

But regardless, I like what you have to say and watch all of your videos
mrjergovic 2 years ago
He probably didn't know, there have been a lot of stories lately on how they have been faking those pictures and taking random people off of facebook and stuff like that and using them in those ads. It's sad. I have been doing Lee's workouts for about 7 months now and I have increased my bench 70lbs. He's the real deal.

Where did you see that? I would never promote that crap in a million years. That's false advertising.
leemhayward 2 years ago
I figured you weren't one for that. I had to find a place (this link) to tell you in case you wanted to do something about it. I'll have to find it again but I'll be sure to let you know
mrjergovic 2 years ago
If you find the site again with my pics, please e-mail me the link.

Keep us all posted if you don't mind Lee! Get those bastards. That crap pisses me off. I mean, there's enough punk fitness models out there that will pose for anything that pays them a dime, why do they have to go and steal pictures? Friggen ridiculous!
Please tell us that you nailed 'em good!

how do you feel about "the perfect push-up?" it works the chest well and may be better than regular push-ups. I have been wondering which is more efficetive?

Good idea on the pads! I do these before my chest routine for pre-exhaustion and do them with a 4:1 tempo, so a 4-count down/ 1-count up. Do this tempo and do not lock-out at the top. Try this and you will really feel it work! ;-)

hmm interesting, this is great, but i think jsut a bit more height in those roller pads would target upper pecs better.
