Start watching at 4:00 minutes. This happened to me before with cox. My first bill was $250. A guy came out to check on the problem. He found that the person that originally installed the cable, put filters on the line, and they made it a business meeting via live chat for corporations. I said, yeah but I live in a residence. Their representative told me that I would still have to pay for the live meeting software. I got rid of cox. So I found this underground wifi company.$25 a month.

Ga. Power is now putting these things in. I was away during some of the Winter and the only thing on was the Fridge which resulted in a bill of under $20. They were so upset that they pulled the meter to certify that it was correct. They replaced that meter in early spring and my bills sky rocked even though I didn't use the AC.

The prez of Ga. Power received 5.3 MILLION dollars last year. I now write on the check "to help pay for the 5.3 million salary he receives." 2 words: Hair plugs

The exact thing happened to me, they said my consumption went up and I k new they were not telling the truth. Number one my outside freezer broke and we did not replace it, decided to wait on that. Number two my husband was deployed for his job, was gone for eight months. Then our electric company refused to work with me, because my husband's name was on our bill, mind you I had power of attorney. I live outside of Omaha Nebraska, in Bellevue, and I know my electric company has no honor.

My Dec energy bill $240 Jan $940 Feb $1000. I'm scared of what March will be. I have reinsulated, house wrapped, and new siding on my home. Also new windows. My energy company is Decatur Co. REMC in Indiana. I have complained hoping they would check the meter for flaws. Instead they told me I didn't have to pay it, and they would shut off the power. The PG&E guy is right. Smart Meters are not malfunctioning, but rather they are programmed ***by PG&E, etc. employees*** to bill the customers twice as much as they're supposed to be. They do this by changing the CT multiplier / CT ratio variable stored within the device to 2.0 rather than 1.0. Since the source of the problems are the PG&E employees, technically, the Smart Meters are not malfunctioning.

Dept of Energy also required the ability to remotely shut off your power.The utility company may have a goal of implementing a mind numbing, complex, tiered pricing model that will extract the maximum profit from the uninformed customer. it is a way for PG&E to earn their Return On Investment on the smart meter. They invested a billion of dollars to install the smart meters, not to mention the price of the meter. The meters that are connected from their utility servers can secretly manipulate the meter run fast or slow, controlling your monthly bills, not necessary your utility usage. I call this the Next Generation utility scam. The problem lies in PG&E partnering with politicians to enact law for mandatory installations.

One more time. FIVE AND A HALF MILLION smart meters installed and 40,000 discrepancies. Do the damn math. That's 4 times better than the old analog meters. And out of those 40,000 the MAJORITY were UNDERBILLED. The story here leaves out the part where those that were overbilled got an automatic credit the next billing cycle. The underbilled customers? PG&E ate those costs.

And another thing. The number of meters estimated were far less than the old analog meters when read by meter readers. Thinking a smartmeter can overbill you is like blaming your cars' GPS navigation system for making the car get bad mileage.

I'm going again. The reason those 40 or so thousand meters were estimated were because the read wasn't transmitting for 1 of 3 reasons: A) the carrier (Verizon) transmitted incorrectly. B) the transmitter itself wasn't working and C) the data chip inside (which holds the meter info before transmitting) was too small and didn't store the info to be transmitted. Just like if a meter reader couldn't get into a back yard to read a mtr, those mtrs were estimated. Wake up, people.

The amount of stupid here is amazing. 5.5 MILLION installed. 40,000 reads estimated. Most of those UNDERBILLED. Those overbilled automatically got the difference credited the next month. The meters can control NOTHING in your home. It's a solid state meter with a fucking radio transmitter, people! When they tested smartmeters head to head with analog meters there were EIGHT discrepancies. 7 of those 8 were over billed by 2kwh. Those seven were the old analog meters. the 1 smrtmtr underbilled.

The installers had never worked with smart meters before.

1# Some meters had there software set wrong (multiplier of x2) 1 kilowatt hour is charged as 2 kilowatt hours.

#2 Some meters are installed on the wrong homes. The meter your getting charged for may be set at the home next door and there meter may be on your home. Check you bill for a meter number and compare it to the meter on your home.
