i am glad i saw judas priest last consert in sweden. it was fucking amazing. rob lost his voice a little after playing THE SENTINEL. but it didint bother me at all because it was amazing
Nobody and i mean nobody compares with halfords range from 1977 to 1990 this man was basically a possessed freak of nature dickinson tate udo klause meine whoever could not touch halford during this time.
Ahh,chill up my spine!! Was my fave band of that time and that meant alot considering we had ourselves a new blast of metal with Maiden,Krokus,Scorpions etc....
One of the best metal bands of the 70s and 80s. You had to be there Amazing live. In there hay day. Robs vocals are amazing to hear? He can hit the highs and lows. Not many singers can do that.. With the new bands today they can't sing for SHIT.
@AAtaak - dammit I just said that about BLOODSTONE lol!
Speaking of that I'm also amazed how "Billy Gibbons-bluesy" Glenn Tipton can sound at the beginning of BLOODSTONE, 'co's he's also a hell of a shredder. On RIDING he plays BOTH his album solo bits AND the KK Downing Trade-off licks, impressive also.
ri-ding-on... the WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND!!!!!
some people sing high part of the time. This dude sings like two notes of the whole song below the high register. Some long ass notes too. Better get a teacher if you want to sing like this.
Seeing Judas Priest in concert from 77- 90 was like witnessing a goddamn nuclear explosion. Maybe that why i still has brain bamage. Priest is the best.
i guess it is a matter of taste, i personally like dickinson the most, and ozzy well i just dont hear anything special about his vocals other than sounding nasal
Maybe in you opinon, but in general, Halford is considered to be a better singer than Geoff Tate. He has better range, more power, more feeling and a rawer sound. Geoff sounds weak compared to Halford, or Dio for example :P
@kranen1 Halford is one of the greatest singers in metal/rock and roll, however, technically, Geoff Tate is one of the VERY, VERY few (probably ONLY) singer(s) who is better. I am an extreme fan of both.
@johnstonebreaker Yeah, his technique is flawless. But, great technique is not enough to be the best. Halford has more power and better feeling :) Also, he has that raw sound that none of those "clean" singers have. Tate, Kiske, Dickinson etc. You should also check out Mark Boals and Ray Gillen, great singers with great technique.
@BrianMont1 Yeah, I saw him this summer and he wasn't good at all. They played songs from the new album, which sucks, and I didn't hear any high notes at all xD
Seriously. Fakn sick man. i saw this tour and I definitely didn't appreciate it like I do now, I mean how tight were these guys back then? And Halford, just unreal, what a performance. Very nutsy.
Maybe I shouldn't have used that adjective to describe the bands ability to sync, lol.... What I would do to be able to jet back in time and see this again at my age now, just phenominal man! Maiden and Accept on the (I think it was) Powerslave tour (maybe the Somewhere In Time) was also just a sick and unbelievably awesome show. Accept used to rock it hard back in the 80's, man they sounded almost exactly like their studio efforts... still good today too.
i heard the fozzy covers of riding on the wind and freewheel burning and definitely they are NOT better than this. never can no one better than priest. ever.
At their peak totally at the musical peak. the best album(vengence) the best tour and still not millionares but on the cusp of being millionares. still young enough. just the way rob used to move around was very powerfull. and as a kid i saw this tour in san fransisco nov 1982. I like robs 1984 defenders look the best. the freewheel burning promo video is what im talking about.
How is the show these days and how's Rob sound live?

theres a riff in that song that i never see them do live though it right when hes singin wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd there a big riff thats on the record wonder why they don't put that in there live its all great to me i hear it in my head anyway hhahahaahha
Holland was a good fucken drummer, who cares about the personal shit... british steel, screamming for vengeance, defenders give me a break... I saw them live with Holland... he was flawless

@kranen1 He was great for 2 tours, but if you listen to bootlegs Tate lost his voice every year.
I'd say smoking and drinking didn't help but Halford smokes and drinks, not that much anymore, but retains his voice till today.
