The alternate version seems a little grim & dark, especially for the slapstick sequence when they're getting in the car & the cutaways that introduce the Goonies. The film version is a classic bit of music on its own terms but also works well here. Since it was an overcast day we definitely needed some cheery music to lighten up the mood! Keep in mind this music was originally written for the "pipes" sequence & Spielberg asked the composer to rerecord it for the opening after hearing it there.

Are you kidding? You cut out the best part, where she bites a cracker while she's driving.

This sounds almost exactly like the music when the Fratellis are chasing the Goonies through the tunnels.

This music would've worked in other scenes later in the movie. I like it though. It's pretty cool, and it is rather dark and a little grim. :)
