  • And so you talk that jap version is rare. I bought it today for $2.5 (i own a famiclone with a keyboard). Brand new, at a local shop. The seller had another version, Japanese too but from a different publisher, it seems. I'm quite sure these are unaltered because we had issues with power-ups in altered versions and here there are none. Nevertheless, Ryukenden III is quite easy to find if you don't live in the US. :D Much easier than the Metal Gear for NES/Famicom. Now that is really rare!

  • Comment removed

  • I have the Japanese Ninja Ryukenden III. I have the 'password' menu item. But I can't enter one! As I select "Password" and press start then the game starts. How to enter them correctly? o_O

  • He's absolutely right though,Gaiden 3 was a BITCH and it doesn't quite make sense story wise in the beginning, but once you understand Clancy's Role and then discovering Foster is back,it all kinda makes more and more sense as it goes on. The power ups are wierd, but honestly, find the ones you remember from Gaiden 2 and it should be fine...the only one from 3 worth a damn is the Sword Extend...

  • Poor AVGN....if only he had the Japanese version...

  • Sounds like the japanese knew this game would be near impossible without some revisions. As the Us version, is NEAR impossible!

  • LOL

The husband who always beats you up but you always come back to it

  • Like Adventures Of Bayou billy/Mad City

  • just play de damn game already

  • You need to learn how to say Ryukenden. sorry.

  • D.A.R.E. to say no to drugs... Serial

  • Hey Jed when are u making a return to the youtubez?

  • I remember playing ninja Ryukenden 2.. it is ninja gaiden2. Dude, just look at that boss. Nowadays they dont have much imagination like they used to.. so modern games dont inspire . A beautiful idea like "werewolf" (NES) simply doesnt appear at present

  • according to u i played japanes version on my childhood,i couldnt get end,,now i receltly download american version i got many difficulties in beggining but after a lot of training i got end in one turn without continue

  • he compared video games to spousal abuse, Thats fucking ballsy.

  • Good review. I didn't know that about the Japanese version.

  • Hey good review man! Yeah, I had a lot of trouble beating this game (US version). I got the hang of it though. I am a NInja Gaiden veteran.

  • You should check out my latest uploads. You'd like them.

I am also a big fan of the series.

  • I can beat the NES version it took some skill but once you know all the tricks, youll just laugh at people who say its hard jk =)

just remember to get the 1ups and youll be good especially in 6-2 A/B all you gotta do is go back and forth to the room where the 1up is

  • One thing that bugs me: you begin the video by saying "these are the exact same game" before spending the whole video showing the differences... so it's not the exact same game by definition!

  • lol i completed US version, and i want to say that this was very difficult :)

  • The Japanese version is just more fair.

  • I definitely played the jap version back in 1993, If I hadn't had a password I don't think I would've made it to the finish.

  • This is the kind of lesson I would have loved to have at school

  • NG III gets too much of a bad rap, it's actually a really good game. I like the challenge, it used to drive me nuts but it's pretty easy once you play through a few times.

  • You Get The Password In The Snes.

  • i had this version and was cool

  • Because it kills the whole purpose of the game. I don't see the point just breezing through the game, it's as much fun as skiping a movie to the end credits as soon as it begins...

  • the us japan difference thing always confuses me

  • u have a dare shirt on put u sound and look like a crack addict WTF?

  • He's no crack addict, games are his drug

  • i still have my D.A.R.E. shirt from 3rd grade...seriously. i still use it for pajamas and i'm 27 :(

  • I beat ninja gaiden 3 once and it was cloud nine... but the frustration that game caused me really wasnt worth it. The most unforgiving game this side of double dragon 3 (before you figure out the grapple trick that is... man I'm a bigger nintendo nerd than I thought :p )

  • The one thing you didn't mention jedite1 is that the U.S. version causes you to take double damage from ALL enemies as compared to the Japanese version

  • I have Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and you probably know this, but it has a password system which makes it a lot easier when I don't want to play the game all the way from the beginning. I do have one complaint in the 3rd one which is the fact that the enemies don't fight back, they just move around with weapons and don't use them at all. STill though, it was a great game to play and the music was great. I hope Nintendo puts the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (SNES version) on the Wii console though.

  • I used to have this game - I seem to remember a password. - I know you don't have to start from act I everytime you play. - I never was the type of gamer that sat there and played forever - so I'm sure I was able to shut it down and start from where I stoped later. They had to have a password, but I don't remember.

  • The original didn't have a password system, which if you lost all your lives, you had to start all over. The Super NES game of Ninja Gaiden trilogy had the password system, but the only problem it would only be on the act that you started from.

  • So you're saying you had to play all the way through if you wanted to finish it? - I don't remember that.

I mean if you still had all your lives and wanted to quit in the middle of the game because you don't have the time to sit there and play all the way through is one run - You couldn't do that?

  • I believe so for the original NES games. That's why I like the Super NES versions cause you can have a password system and start where you left off in the Act.

  • h - if you lose "all your lives" - So what if you just lost one life?

  • You didn't go back to the main stage if I remember correctly. It's been years since I played it.

  • NG3 is gimped on Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. The music is butchered, it takes twice as much damage to die(like the Famicom version), and the graphics are actually WORSE, since they removed all the gorgeous multi-scrolling backgrounds.

NES is the only way to play this game.

  • I wholeheartidly agree.

I've played a bit of the snes one and man, you're SOOOO right about the music being butchered and yeah, the gameplay did seem quite a bit easier. You should also check out my latest uploads if you're a fan. You'd like them.

  • Fucking racist.

  • Pardon, but how is that racist?

  • Dude, you're a geek. But you do have some great videos about video games. Keep it up.

  • @omarcuellar2 Geeks rules! ;)

  • @omarcuellar2 Since when was that an insult?

  • Storywise, NGIII draws some elements, very loosely, from the OAV anime (relased in japan only), like the genetical manipulation thing. Also the japanese box artwork is inspired by the artwork of the OAV. Check the ninja gaiden homepage for more info about that.

By the way, I am suffering like hell to complete the US version nowadays. Keep dying in act VII, But I can't just letting it away.

  • gulp gulp gulp... nice t

  • That is true but that is not all difernces. Here they are:in Ninja Gaiden oponents apear at much more places than in Ninja Ryukenden, also you take more damage from oponents in NG,pausing game have diferent sound, music is slightly changed, intro music before level(where it says Act1 in NG)is also slightly changed,in second level when you get too much into sand you are getting hit like from enemies and you are falling in but you can jump back on ground,in NR you get swalowed and die.

  • lol @ your spousal abuse metaphor and D.A.R.E. shirt

Cool vid though, I didn't know that and I've never even seen the Japanese NG3. Thanks.

  • one of the most haedest....lol.....you need to study more in vocab. You also need to slow down when you talk...we can hardly understand you....you sound like mike TV from willy wonnka.

  • This isn't fist time the difficulty in a game has been raised. The Emerald and Ruby weapon were added to the American versions of FF7

  • Dude, FFVII was a decade AFTER NG3.

  • Nice T-Shirt.

Otherwise, very informative comparison. Ran across it by accident, but never knew.

Also, lawl at NGIII US reference of husband beating a wife.

  • to all dude here.. do you know that ninja gaiden japanese & us version have their cheted code. i always use it. so you wont die and does not need to repeat the whole game. same gose to all contra games.

  • Thing is that the Japanese version is better paced, if you die you don't WANT to go all the way back. It's not extra hard, it's extra annoying. It's bad pacing.

  • Except the first boss on Shinobi for NES is dumb hard.

  • Wow I didn't know that, thanks dude!!

  • Nice collection.

  • but i like the originals btr

  • i played the U.S version of III but on the SNES remake the one that was actually playable.

  • i think shinobi kiks ninja gaidens ass

  • I don't think so, if you're comparing the Ps2 remake of Shinobi to the Xbox Ninja Gaiden

i think Ninja Gaiden is far much better thaqn any other ninja game i nexistence and what about you?

  • i ment the old ones i like the ps2 shinobi a bit btr thn the ninja gaiden because its faster but i love the ds ninja gaiden

  • Well maybe,But Shinobi made more games and has been around longer. But i've always liked NInja Gaiden's gameplay better.I've played the ps2 shinobi which was good.and Ninja giaden xbox which was superb.

  • nice review.

  • The husband response was hillarious. I'll just stick to the first Ninja Gaiden, even though i don't know why all Ninja Gaiden games in America make you start on the very first area when you die in a boss fight. Just gotta get it right the first time, sadly :-/

  • your a fucking dork.....learn to talk or maybe take some drugs idiot

  • He's not an idiot for the way he talks. Rather, you are a douchebag for wasting your time to tell a random person that they suck at talking.

  • How you feel if you were born with a voice no one likes?

  • that,s strangth that some nes versions of a game like this is even harder than the japanese versions.

and i tout that they,ve decided to make games easier for the U,S market.

imagine that nintenmdo had decided backthem to not release smb2 in the U,S duo it,s hard gameplay ,so instead they,ve released a doki dori conversion called smb2 in the U,S wich ithey call it much easier to play.

and since they check anny thirt party nes game, this is really average!

  • If I remember correctly from playing the US release of NG3 so many times (I actually owned that game one time), the farthest I ever got was up to the first form of the last boss, but he kicked my ass because I didn't have enough health when I made it there. I haven't been able to reach him again since then.

Sure the US version of Castlevania III was hard (I owned that game too at one point), but at the very least I beat it a handful of times.

  • correction, one of the hardest games ever is Contra 3 for SNES it is INSANELY HARD

  • Have you played Contra Hard Corps on the Genesis? people debate on that game being harder than Contra III

  • @ArchonXR3 its way harder than contra 3. i easily beat contra 3 as a kid and could beat the nes one without the code but never beat the genesis one.

  • Hey, jedite1. Feel free to add me, Ps3 gamertag is "toytoy13" without the quotes.

I'll add you then, if you have a ps2 logitech headset or an eyetoy, chat with me if you can.

  • i like his voice

  • Two curious things I can tell you:

The Japanese version of Ninja Gaiden III must have been localized for the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for the SNES. Makes sense, eh?

The second thing: Hmmm, now I see why the nwe Ninja Gaiden is hard. :P

  • ''Aint that a bitch?''

    Haha, ''aint'' sounds funny ^^.

  • Aint that a bitch lol

  • wow, i love the amazing cut scenes in the old ninja gaidens

  • look whos talking

  • And I'm sure that most of the great rockers of the 1960s were told.

"Damnit Paul, you and John and Ringo are gonna be old and all your gonna tell your kids is you played some stupid songs on a guitar."

    Gaming is a culture =)

  • Kuzz, you miss the point, and its missed purely out of your own stubbornness and stereotypes. Fortunately much like a Zaxx, the world will keep moving even while you stand in your tracks.

So, I do hope stereotyping others takes you further than other slackjaws =)

  • I can blaze through the Famicom version very easily, in contrast to the US NES version.

Anyways, this game was released at about the same time as the SNES, so IMO it wouldn't have mattered much, unless Tecmo ported it specifically for the SNES, which would've been interesting...

  • You do realize that you can just break the two tabs where you stick the cartridge in the snes to be able to play super famicom... so you dont need to buy the japanese system. owells

  • You forgot to mention that in the Japanese version,if you press Up+Start you will regain all your health! But not in the US version.

  • good i love this game

  • I liked the Famicom system more than the NES.

  • I never finished NG 3 for nes, lol

  • WHAT WAS TECMO USA THINKING?!?!

  • Nice wife beating analogy. Lol.

  • Thanks for bringing more of the differences to my attention, tjedite1!

Do you plan on examining the differences between the Famicom and NES Battletoads games? There are tons of alterations in the Famicom version, including the correction of the Level 11 glitch, that does not allow the second player to compete in the Clinger Winger race in the NES version.

  • Interesting. I never realized that the Famicom version does not send the player as far back as the NES version after dying. I have played and beaten both versions, but only noticed differences in the amount of continues given, the increased amount of damage that the enemies do in the NES version, the fewer amount of enemies seen in the Famicom version and the Japanese exclusive Password system.

  • wow....dude...u have that game that is worth hundreds!! I remember those games LOL

  • What are u talking about? I just got ninja gaiden 3 at mcvans for 16 bucks last week.

  • The Husband that beats you up that you always come back to????????

    Issues

  • the wife-beater comparison was terrible

  • OTAKU!!!!!!!!

  • I love the Sailormoon poster in the back, glad to see you too are a fan like I am.

I can't believe they had to make Ninja Gaiden 3 so hard over here though.

  • yeah inuyasha poster in the backround nice to see another fan:)

  • OK!

dude you sound like Quentin Terentino.

  • The same thing was with Castlevania 3. Akumajou Densetsu was a lot easier than the US Version of CV3.

  • Castle vania 3 on NES was easier than Castlevania 1 dude. CV1 i couldget to dracula but would get owned because of the stage you had to go through just to get to dracula, then you had to kill him in both forms. wasnt able to beat castlevania 1 until the saved state emulators came about. Simons quest was the one that they should have spent alittle more time on in developing it. the stages in Simons quest were good but the bosses needed lots of work.

  • I'm not comparing different installments of the Castlevania series. If you read my comment, I was comparing different versions (i.e. American vs Japanese) of a specific game. I was making a parallel to what Jedite is talking about but with Castlevania 3.

  • well i havent played the famicom version of cv3 but the NES cv3 was way easier than CV1. cv3 i beat faster than simons quest. I'm surprised that japan did this honestly. easier games for their kids and harder ones for us? i would think their gamers would want the hard stuff too...

  • Yes the Famicom CV 3 is easier than the NES version; same with Ninja Gaiden 3.

I don't understand their [Japanese Manufacturers'] logic, either. They refused to release the actual SMB2 in the US because it was too hard, yet 4 years later, they make CV3 and NG3 impossibly difficult in the U.S. while it's much less frustrating in their supposedly native Japanese versions.

  • HERES a qusteion how do you get your qustenions on your q and a's

  • He probably gets tons of PM's asking them.

  • NOT

  • This game looks cool. keep up the good work jedite

  • Yeah, know what I'm saying. I know what your saying.

  • i beat ninja gaiden 1 and III, not two though. three is my favorite just because its hard to beat, and is actually fun, unlike megamam and other difficult games

  • NG3 its hard but i think NG1 and NG2 is a bit harder NG3 is little les hard little easy for me

  • It was cool to see this. I miss the days when you did a lot of gaming videos. The QandA sessions just aren't the same.

  • Pretty interesting, but what the fuck's up with your mic, it sounds like you shoved it in your ass and are screaming, trying to talk through it. I don't understand why you dislike the SNES trilogy pack, it has the exact same fucking games on it, with enhanced graphics, the same music with 16 instead of 8 bit rate sound, and some minor bug fixes. You also don't have to worry about your system freezing up with the SNES versions, like you do with the NES versions.

  • I don't like the SNES NG Trilogy because it doesn't have that same feel of the NES game. Specifically, I didn't like the music remix. I mean, they totally fucked it up. Yeah, it takes some time to get used to after a while, but I still prefer the NES version of NG than the SNES one, password system be damned!

  • i remeber dare btw your awesome

  • NG 2 was tough, even using an emulator and save states it was hard. NG has always presented a challenge but i agree with you NG 2 is my fav.

  • Theres little to no significance in either, if your using an emulator.

  • Hardest? Tried Ghosts and Goblins? lol

  • is that your real voice?

  • good vid man. the snes version of ng 3 also improves upon the original with updated music and unlimited continues. I prefer that one but I never tried the famicom version.

  • I didn't like the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy remake. It was ok, but, I liked the music and originality feel of the NES one better.

  • yeah i like the originally on Ninja Gaiden NES batter i like the Trilogy but what i didn't like bout it THE MUSIC on that version was ok the nes version sound more batter

  • I can't view any of Jedite1's videos! It is stuck loading forever. This is starting to piss me off. :(

  • good job nice room

  • NG3 is actually my favorite of the series now just because of the intensity of it. I ran through the Japanese version a couple of years back, and only the one time. There was just no challenge in it. I found it funny as well that the game is easier than ours, and I mean REALLY easy. There's even fewer enemies on the Japanese version haha Man, I couldn't believe how insanely easy it was! Nice vid bro :)

  • J-1 they just put BREATH OF FIRE 2 on wii virtual console

  • Oh! Okay! Who cares? Jesus fuck, don't talk about things that have no bearing on the current conversation dude. This is convo about NG3, not the game you just referenced.

  • Hey! You say "Jesus fuck" too! I love that phrase!

  • dode i'm just telling that to jedite 1 because he like's the breath of fire games i no his favorite is BREATH OF FIRE 3 THAT'S MY FAVORITE TO but i just wanted to tell him its on nintendo Wii-cv that's all, so cool down Aman

  • Sorry I snapped like that, but you replied to my comment with your comment, and it had nothing to do with what I said.

  • really, ?

  • i think NG3 good to in some's way its batter then NG2, so -NG3 has more details art, graphical little more batte NG2 and the music in 3-of the NG-games really great

  • Finally a short video that is very informative. It's weird I would think that the developers would make the U.S version easier b/c they probably think Americans couldn't stand the difficulty.

  • I had problems with the NES version. I swore alot under my breath when I got punted in the pits and had to continue at further point. Maybe I should play the famicom release of it. Great review though. I may try Ninja Ryukenden rom.

  • good review...not sure about the spouse beatings tho lol

  • hmmm...i never no NINJA GAIDEN 3 japanese famicom version was O'LOT EASY'RE though, interesting well i do no in japan some games that came out over here in US from japan some of the japanese version from the US version was a bit easy like for starter ( GRADIUS 3 japanese super famicom was o'lot hard're then the US version but the US version was still HARD,

  • continue' what i was saying bout Gradius 3 being hard're then US version well like i was saying before the reason Y, konami-USA made-it little easy' US market is because wind konami-USA came-out with the gradius 3 on the ARCADE, people that play the game ind, arcade had a problem with the game being to hard, so konami made it easy on sNES-US version

  • "the NG U.S. version suck ass" -James Rofle

  • i hate the ninja gaiden 3 [america]

but i have to give that famicom one a try

  • i think the reason Y, KONAMI-USA made it easy're was because wind konami came-out with the ARCADE version of the same game people in the US play the game in the arcade but it was really HARD for them to play it

  • Very nice to see this Jedite!

    Have more man ;D

  • this is the closest thing to a video game review we've gotten in months.
