  • How about an F117 or Junkers Jet plane replica? F117 should be easy, guillotine and fold aluminium plate... just rivet together.

  • Aw damn. Why am I logged in as "naughtygirl"? I need to have a talk with my teenage daughter.

Anyway, I want one of these little jets so bad it makes my nuts hurt.

  • I think that's the slowest hangar door I've ever seen.

  • cqan you fit a g1000 cockpit in it

  • @pricelessppp You can go to MGL Electronics and get something that makes a g1000 look like an abacus for a tiny fraction of the price. That's the beauty of experimental aircraft. I have a cousin who flies a 737 for Southwest and he says he's seen planes built in garages with cockpits that put his to shame.

  • That is just a mock up.. That little Olympus or Titan microjet is not enough power.

They even know it as the turbine hasn't even been fired up (as evident by the shiny cone). This is a publicity stunt to bring people into look at their aircraft. single compressor turbines just aren't efficient enough to be feasible and multi-section jets are just too damned expensive to make for the average homebuilt.

NO one wants to put $10,000 in the airframe and $300,000 in the engine.

  • @texNoz

It has ran since. The engine of choice is PBS TJ-100A, a 1.1kN (240lbf) jet engine, specifically designed for drones, UAV's, and light airplanes. The producers of the engine are obviously shy about publishing actual prices on the web, but the price for a factory new unit is supposed to be around 60k USD. It's specific fuel consumption is 1.09 kg/daN/h, so it's not that much more thirsty than other turbojets available, and very usable for having a bit of fun near the airfield.

  • Talk talk talk...LETS SEE IT FLY Dumb A##

  • 2 seats pls jhon!!

  • Is this aircraft still being developed?

  • Please change the nose. Then it would look ok

  • didn't see it fly...didn't even fire the engine

  • Sonex are a good value kit plane, but geez their ugly!

  • OH SNAP!

I got goosebumps just looking at it leaning on one wing in the hanger. Can't wait to see this thing fly.

    Kudos to the Sonex team!

  • OK, I'll admit it, I WANT ONE!!!!!!!! I've been a big fan of the Sonex for years. It is probably the best value in experimental aircraft. I don't really know of any other plane that provides all the capabilities of the Sonex at the same low cost. The SubSonex Jet may not have many of the utilitarian capabilities of the standard Sonex & Waiex, but the cool factor is way high! I want one!
