iv been alover the heart land north and south and its my home that I love. sad what happend and scary to know that the farms and ranchers have just about used up the underground water and this could vary well happen again if we are not safe, thouse are words of the lakota people that i am of.
This was Easter Sunday 1935, I remember it well, it was also know as Black Sunday. I saw a big dust cloud when I was on my home from Church with my Parents. I helped my Parents put up wet rags around the windows to help slow the dust from coming the house.
This is such a good video. I went to the 75th Anniversary of Black Sunday this weekend and heard several survivors of the dust bowl from the Oklahoma panhandle.
HSUgrad - Glad you enjoyed it. If you are teaching the Dust Bowl, check out "The Worst Hard Time" by Tim Egan. All true stories, and I couldn't put it down. - gmbudt
