  • 4 people don't have a soul, because it takes a man with no emotion to not be moved by this performance.

  • @ParasectFTW OH SHUT UP AND LET THEM HAVE THEIR OWN OPINIONS!

  • I see a face that's on his shirt the whole video, and I don't know if his shirt actually has a face on it or if it's how he's positioned...

  • @Disturbed3650 its Ben Franklin. its a $100 bill shirt.

  • @yuke15 Oh I see. Thanks.

  • When he says ''when you and I were gettinh high'' at 3:54 it sends chills up my spine. there is always at least one note in every song that Brent hits that does that to mean. Just sick vocals man.

  • I have his range, I am just trying to find out how he gets that edge/grit to his voice, as all my stuff that I sing is an octave higher about and a LOT cleaner, i don't much like it lol.

  • Aghh the first part of this song is SOOO hard to sing. You have to have the voice of an angel to cover it. Good job Brent. :)

  • he's holding back here - he should just let it out! such a good song -

  • Yes I'm Glad Jasin Was There to lay down guitars for the sound of madness believe it or not

  • Why Jasin left?

  • i heard this song for the first time april 30th of '08 at 9 pm, i got a call from my best friend at 11 that night saying that her daughter was beat to death and they pulled her plug @ 9 pm.... very moving song. love it and her.... RIP Autumn Richell Franks 4/30/2008

  • this song is about a dream brent had about a mother losing a child and how the mother over came the loss i read it in a wiki article that brent had on his facebook

this is by far one of the best songs of the year and i dont even listen to this band often or this kind of music i listen to prog hardcore but this song really speaks to me

  • this is the worst ive ever heard Brent sing, and it still sounds pretty good. this particular session still doesnt do either the song or the band justice.

  • Does he sound a tad under pitch? I know this is the first time, and I love Shinedown, probably in my top 10 bands. But it can't be denied he sounds kinda flat

  • Holy crap he sounds good live!!

  • I get goosebumps listening to this

  • @slightmuse7

i was just about to say that :)

    i love it.

  • his pure raw voice is beyond words!

  • i personally think brent smith and corey taylor need to get together and do a duet. they both have very beautiful voices and they are both sexy as hell =D

  • I think they said on the radio it's about losing a child

  • When I saw them in concert last month, he said this was for his uncle. Dunno if that was truly the case, but it sounded good!

  • shinedown and ten years doing a show in knoxville can't wait two of the best acoustic bands out.

  • it sounds better live

  • This song is amazing. Anybody know what it's about? Is he singing about his kid?

  • according to wikipedia this is their current single. :) its a beautiful song. and a chilling performance <3

  • this song gives me chills when he sings it acousticly (is that even a word???)

  • It is now! Man now you'll have to change your screen name to Webster

  • Amazing is right. Brent the singer is one of the greatest rock talents in the last 25 years. When you combine the lyrics he writes with that voice. Who has a better one two punch ? Shinedown Rocks

  • @ILuvItLive He didn't write the lyrics. Jasin did.

  • according to wikipedia, brent wrote that song. Where did u get your info from?

  • Not really man look it up in the album cover

  • @justinsane1985 ACTUALLY BRENT SMITH DID!

  • he sounds just like he does on the record, amazing <333

  • I love how when you hear them they change the way they sing the song everytime. It really shows how great of muscians they all are. I love them.

  • AWE MAN. I was totally waiting for the chorus, but he totally held back. That's the best part of this song :) He sings his heart out.

  • he is definintly holdn back alott on this song

  • hauntingly beautiful!!

  • one of my favorites songs buy them

  • Whoa, you're lame.

  • @HER0PSYCH0DREAMER WHOA WHO INVITED THIS DOUCHEBAG?

  • It's cool that he sounds the same off of CDs and stuff. Unlike other singers. They'd sound all nice on CDs, but sound terrible live or when they do something like this.

  • isnt jason hook from the five finger death punch?

  • Yes. :]

  • Is or was yeah, but this is a different Jasin.

  • @gravebat FIRST OF ALL ITS J-A-S-I-N! AND SECOND SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • i love his natural vibrato

    =)

  • this isn't the first time they ever played it, type in shinedown @ fathom and you'll see crow and the butterfly thats the first time it was ever played

  • I want Jasin back! He's great!

  • Love it=)

  • we all miss jasin

  • Their best song. Just so powerful.

  • FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • brilliant

  • this live version is great. i just wish the guitar was a bit louder in this version.

  • not wrong.

    just different.

It's probably because he didn't want to sing the high notes, because to hit the high part in the song you need to sing ridiculously loud.

  • This is before the new members were in the band.

  • @CourtneyRooney ITS A RADIO VERSION STUPID! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!

  • best voice ever :) shinedown is the best band ever!

  • Amazing! :)

  • Comment removed

  • this song is fcken awesome....where do i get lyrics from...4 guitar...ill post a cover 4 it

  • i think ultimate-guitar has them

  • hi....germany is alwasy very late^^

i love every shinedown song, but germany is late^^

please post more and more of shinedown vids

    this band is so incredible

  • Incredible voice.

  • :-)

  • Brent has a voice that rises up even a weakest melody, and his voice mixed up with the awesome melodies that shinedown has, thats just incredible.

  • Except for the fact that none of his songs have a weak melody. He has an incredible talent for melody.

  • That was really well done for live.

This song is really amazing =]

    Good for Shinedown

  • Best Band ever and absolutely love this song. picked me up when i was in a depressing situation

  • CAPSON.... you're so right ...:s

  • lol at the begining brent sound like hes saying "i painted jarome at midnight"

  • LMAO, that would be slightly awkward.

  • Damn! I wanted to hear him to hit the high notes. That shit sends shivers down my spine!

  • yea it does you have to see them live to truely appreciate their talents personally if they toured with godsmack that would be one of the best concerts ever

  • they did a tour supporting godsmack in summer of 06

  • i wish i was there

  • dope!!

  • I adore the album version, but the acoustic and the way Brent sings this...I was pretty much amazed. His voice is just jalduyfie epic.

  • Jalduyfie? No offense, but what the hell does that mean?

  • awesome for first time performance. amazing vocals, better than on album, brent can switch it up live making the meaning in the song punch u in the face. brent has most meaningful lyrics ever. its a shame jasin got kicked out by atlatic records for being "too intoxicated". hes a rockstar right? not sure what happned to brad? loved the old shinedown. love the new even more, same great lyics from mr. smith. zack + nick = better sound (2:1 ratio, nothin aagainst jasin). FAVORITE BAND EVER

  • brad stewart went back to the band Amaru.

  • =( i miss jasin...wish it was still the original group that i fell in love with when i was 12 (5 years ago), but i still love shinedown and their music...brent has one of most beautiful voices ive ever heard along with some of the best lyrics ive ever heard

  • I never keep track of the members--I wasn't aware Jasin left! :[

I've been a fan since day one, when I was also 12, haha! They're so amazing, I can NEVER get enough.

  • so is all the music on the sound of madness album written by the original members or did nick perri and the others have a role in it at all?

  • no, nick perri and eric bass did not write on the album. it was brent and at least jasin, tho he gets no credit, and maybe barry did the drums, not sure tho

  • @yuke15 well no shit Barry did the drums. Hes the only drummer Shinedown has ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @slashrocker123 - at the time there was talk that it may not have been barry that wrote his drum parts, that they may have been computer generated and that barry had only recorded what was written by brent and the producers.

  • I believe its half and half. brent probably did most of the writing but you can definitely hear eric and nick's styles on the album.

  • nope, nick and eric did nothing for this record. 0%. Nick wasn't even part of the band until april, at that point the writing had been finished for about 6 months. if they had done any writing they would have done the recording and that was done by studio artists

  • nope

  • Mike Matejevic of Steelheart.. to me is the best rock singer. Brent is still way awesome though.

  • no please...brent is one of greatest voices nowadays in rock...but not the biggest...i love him but not the best for sure.

  • i luv this song ^^

  • I would have to agree.

Also he has such an amazing voice.

A lot of people can't pull it off live, but He most undoubtedly can.

  • Not propably, Brent is the best rock singer ever!!!

  • Prbably the best rock singer in history....

  • I have to agree!!!!

  • 3:53-3:56 the best

  • yeah it rocks

  • wow, his voice is amazing!

  • no kidding, huh, shinedown is fuckin awesome

  • It's just a shame he held back on the high notes. He's got such an incredible voice that it's dissapointing when he doesn't let it out.

Love Shinedown and love the new album.

  • 5 stars OFCOURSE

  • People who do not like shinedown are FAGS!!!

  • Haha, I think you should leave a little room for freedom of opinion. However, since I love Shinedown so much I will not chastise you for such a statement. lol

  • from 3:42 until about 4:00...amazing. Brent Smith's voice is the shit.

  • no the HOLE song was amazing ;D

  • whole*

  • same shit:P

  • heh, yeah i thought id be a dick though, kick ass song btw

  • Jasin was great, he was a druggie, but he was better than the new people.

  • i like version better than the cd version. i hope sooner or later shinedown makes an acoustic album because this song acoustic is AMAZING as is most of Shinedowns acoustic renditions

  • crap I'm trying to learn this song on guitar and all I was able to get was the intro. I can't see what's going on with the left hand though because of the damned computer screen and low quality video. Argh. And no tabs out yet either.

    Anyway, good song!

  • This song is amazing. Has anyone heard of Stereoside? If not look up on our way by them... Completely amazing song!!!

  • Yes and that song is amazing

  • wait wait spec-fuckin-tacular?!?!?!

  • Haven't heard a song this good in at least a decade

  • Its true I do. I like to wear a clown suit and blast NKOTB while ramming your gramma's arthritic corpse.

  • @AGENTARMES HEY! DIDJA REALLY NEED TA BE MEAN BACK?!

  • You're a piece of shit who likes to down other people which means you must have little man syndrome. Fuck off and leave people alone, everyone here has good things to say, if you don't like it then go away.

  • Not really...Im just saying this song is not the greatest song in a decade. Thats absurd.

  • @365daysgone HEY AGENTARMES CAN LISTEN TO WHAT EVER HE WANTS! SO LEAVE HIM ALONE!

  • Really nice song.

  • Brent has a great voice

  • this song could make me cry.. it probly will

  • yeh this song is on the new album the new album rules!!!

  • damnit jason should come back to the band

  • @joeytiago ITS J-A-S-I-N!

  • I thought it was a pretty good song. I hope their new album will be as good as their first...

  • if your talking about PoM then yeah your right

not shinedown though they fuckin rock every song

  • ur a fag....shinedown is amazing . everysong...go open ur fuking ears

  • So true.

  • goes double for you.

  • Who cares?!!? The main thing is that the song is kickass!

  • @InsaneCheeez I know and plus I can play this on clarinet! And speakin of kickass have you seen the movie?

  • does the buckethead show relate to buckethead in anyway???

  • I seriously doubt it!=)

  • then they should change the name of the show!!!

  • Seriously!!

  • how would i find out if i can use some of the lyrics to this song for a tat? my niece was killed on wed (4/30/08) and some of these lyrics fit her personality and how her mom feels.

  • You can. What are they gonna do, come and cut them off your arm?

  • Also, from what I gathered, there's been speculation of possibly letting Jasin back in after he's out of rehab. I hope this will happen because Jasin's a good guy, he just has some issues to iron out. And yes, he's a rocker, this isn't new material...I personally think it was unfair of the record company to do that, keeping him in and also getting him some help is what I would do. Then again, I am not one to know the whole story either. I just know Brent and Jasin's mom have released material.

  • Well, here's what I know: Jasin was having some problems (I believe drug and alcohol) and was in rehab for a little while. Supposedly he was arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct with the police in Florida. After this incident, I believe the record company kicked him out. From what I gathered, Brent and Barry were not completely against the decision but they weren't completely for it either. Also, Jasin has stated that Brent has been nothing but supportive and wants Jasin to get well soon.

  • Why would Nick Perri replace Jasin Todd? Of course Brent is an amazing vocalist but without Jasin's writing a lot of the songs wouldn't be what they are... If Brent kicked him out then I will lose a great deal of respect for him.. They got there together they should go out together.

  • Yeah the ''Crow And The Butterfly''is set to be on the new album. The lead single; Devour, for the album is set for a release on May 5th. Most critics that have reviewed the new album says it is amazing, be sure to expect this album to be big.

  • hey his shirt has a face on it time to be like the national inquierer.... "gods trying to tell us something!!!" j/k loeve sd. theyre getting tattooed on my.... the "s" not their portraits

  • It is too bad that Jasin is out of Shinedown now.

  • I can't see those wonderful acoustic shows happening anymore or, if they do, ever being the same again.

  • i love the brent roll fuck! ahaha like when he says when u and i

  • That was amazing, i agree with lachcik, even when he's talking. totally breathtaking.

  • wow brent's voice is soo fucking awesome even when he's not singing!!!!!!!!!!!! u can fucking hear that sound in it when hes just talking that fucking ear piercing awesome sound, dont know what it is

  • As far as I know Jasin completed the album, so I think it would be on there.

  • I wonder if this song will be on the new album now that Jasin is no longer with Shinedown.

  • so why isn't he in the band anymore??

  • Who knows. The bass player was replaced a while back, and now Jasin. Check out Shinedown's wikipedia page for the scoop.

  • i just cried a little, im so happy bout the new album

  • me too

  • yehh i can't wait, shinedown are just the best...

  • porra, musica boa. Mas que apresentação média. Ele nem arriscou um tom mais alto...=/

  • me no speaka spanish

  • Spanish? Isso é portugues sua mula. Se não fala a lingua aprenda ou FODA-SE

  • or whatever it is, lol.

  • Could it be...oh, I don't know...Portoguese?

    Like he says?

  • É portugues cacete...aprende a porra do idioma sua mula. Ou foda-se.

You should know it isn't spanish before say something...Or just don't say anything...Besta...

  • The new album drops June 24

  • when is the new album coming out?

  • omg watched it like 6 times already! Shinedown is the best ever! I'm so excited for the new cd commin' out I feel like puking im so excited lol!! \m/ Shinedown effin' ROCKS!!

  • love this song listen to it 10 times ova you will love it brilliant i cant wait till june for there new album to come out.

    love shinedown brilliant!!!

  • i agree.. at first it sounded a little empty or something but i've heard about 10 times or so and if you listen without watching the video... its real good

  • I think it's because the guitar isn't very loud. I'm sure if you could hear the guitar more it would be much better.

  • Definitely check out a version of it with the guitar being louder and it definitely kicks ass, this version kicks ass already but ones with the guitar being louder kick even more ass as XBSHX I believe it's because of the whole guitar situation.
