@absoluted "Accomplished musician" my ass!!! this no talent mook, neither reads music, or plays any instrument. Allowing this hack to piss on this beautiful piece of music, is a crime, bu the way this idiots only talent is "me push button make box go boom duhhhh"!
@jagang32 and you have no understanding of the genre at all....your opinion is pretty mute when you decide to claim dnb music as being as simple as pressing a button, move on please.

Then he should stick to what he knows, and stay out of in front of an orchestra! I doubt he is the father of anything (unless he has kids) like I said I am an actual musician, who reads music, and watching him stand there waving his arms, and relying on memory is an insult. People who study, and practice for years, just to get a shot at conducting deserve their chance, not this amature hack, who neither reads or understands this type of music!!! and on a game show yet?
@jagang31 Post vids of your talent, isntead of raggin on someone who is an accomplished musicain. For you to rag on this man and you show no proof shows your either dumb, bitter old man, or jealous
Trained monkey is all he is, and an insult to the musicians in the orchestra. I have actually played this piece, (tympani) with a full chorus, and a very competent conductor, who actually reads music, (google Gammage auditorium). Whoever thought this show should be taken out and hung! right after him!!!
Ok Ill let your ignorance pass. Goldie is Goldie because he is the Father of Drum n Bass. He masterminded and put together music that ultimately created one of the most popular and heart pounding genre's in Electronic Music. Whether you're willing to accept new genere's into the typical mainsteam music is up to you. But there is hundreds of thousands of people who will tell you Drum n Bass is here to stay....
i spend ages with an orchestra it's when you rehearse that you find out what works and what doesn't by the concert they all (should) know it very well that you could almost not be there!...
these singers/orchestra no this piece (and the others - so well) and they can sight read very well) that they would be able to follow most conductors!....
i am not doubting that Goldie did a fine job... and especially the entrance!
Let's face it... he was bloody good. For a relative novice (no offence, Goldie), he did a fine job. His enthusiasm and ear for music are always apparent. Good on yer, Goldie!!!
he always picks the best the masterpieces, watch his "Hall of The Mountain King" I am so impressed. I love Goldie, always have and this is just another reason.
@DNBGuRu I only just stumbled on this, but it seems that his picks are very consistent with dance culture. The one's I've seen of his pieces have all been covered, sampled or incorporated by techno artists & DJs (This was done as a techno song, Mt. King is popular in hip-hop). Good enthusiasm, though!
Yeah You are actually correct in your statement, but later on after I posted to this video I found out that they didnt get to pick what they wanted, rather it was chosen by the judges I believe., and all 3 contestants had to play the same pieces. Now who's to say they didnt choose these on purpose to give newcomer's a bit of luck and obviously familiar pieces.
Since MOTHER...I have visualized Goldie doing something like this.....I thought it was good and I expected nothing but an interesting attempt GO GOLDIE!!!! once again.....always amazes me...
because it's in 3/4, but he beats 6/8, listen closer, he's had professional training by a professional conductor and he knows waht he's doing, so please don't judge him like he's a monkey who knows nothing about music and just stands there beating some measures all over the place
With his experience he could make it up in C: be not as critical friend! My name is Rafael Persan, I am a Brazilian conductor of the Philharmonic Band and a fan of this great man!
Sorry to differ dude but any musician worth his salt could follow everything he wanted of them and if they needed to be qued by an obvious or violent movement specifically towards them without being able to read what he wanted from them then they would have no right being there..
I think his mentor is not good because on Beethoven's Fifth he conducted in four and in this one the first part he made two threes. it is not correct and it is not his fault.
Holy fucking epicness....

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CONDUCTING?!
He's conducting the entire piece in a 3 pattern...wtf??? He doesn't cue in anyone. He just beats time and the orchestra/chorus doesn't even need him.
Learn about music if you're going to call yourself a musician or else you're going look dumb to actual musicians.
theshanfan14 3 years ago
I agree. Even his mentor (when they show him is counting the words "three four".
But still the sound from the orchestra was awesome.
Is that due to the conductor or are they able to cover his faults?
jirving75 3 years ago
because it's in 3/4, but he beats 6/8, listen closer, he's had professional training by a professional conductor and he knows waht he's doing, so please don't judge him like he's a monkey who knows nothing about music and just stands there beating some measures all over the place

it's in 6/4!
and don't blame his instructor, it's not easy working with someone that's trying to learn conducting from scratch!
grr
RichyUK86 2 years ago
It's written in 3/2 actually...he's beating it correctly.

this is an excellent sound coming out of the orchestra ..
it would help if the video is of better quality and maybe at the end he should't squeeze his mouth to give the "tight" look

Amongst the best performances of O, Fortuna I have ever heard. Goldie's interaction with the music is incredibly convincing!

That was interesting for me because I don't like Orff at all, but I think Goldie is really good. Here as well as with Grieg and Mascagni.
(Still don't like Carmina Burana.)
