Miss Evancho is clearly the most amazing phenomenon of our time and time before us but what is soon to follow will, believe it or not, be equally as much greater than this, as the one in whom all mankind has awaited throughout all history, come and join her in the most miraculous event of all time that is publicly known anyway. This will quickly culminate our time in the reception of the single world family of love. The suffering of history and existence of God can only be concluded in this way.
I was never an opera fan 44 years i listened to big band, classical, pop, rock, classic rock, hip hop .. but getting over the language barrier with opera has been something i have not been able to do until I heard Jackie .. now I truly enjoy nessun dorma, pie jesu .. .and I can listen to her sing them every day :)
@kajal33 You and I are alike never liked opera in my 68 years never heard over five minutes at one time, I would turn it off. I am not saying I now like it but there is something about the way Jackie sings her version of it, I could listen to it all day coming from her. There are a lot of people comment she is not doing it right, To them I say get a life, who cares.
No offence but her voice couldnt hit the high notes and her voice seemed to have swollen inside her throat at 1:12. Im pretty sure once she matures and develops a thicker vocal chord and larger lungs, she would be able to sing like Sissel.
@ridemeup I hope to God that Jackie doesn't sing like Sissel. I love Sissel and think she has a extraordinary voice but Jackie is Jackie. She is incredible the way she is. Yes her voice and her technique will improve (its already improved since this video) but none can match the beauty of her voice even at this tender age. How many 11 year olds can bring grown men and women to tears and speechless admiration ! :).
@tube7562 Surely her voice is naturally good in all aspects of singing. COnsidering the fact that she's a classical crossover singer and she has to do that chest voice for her singing, I think she should do lots of lungs expanding exercise like push ups, shouting, and other aerobic exercises, and she should be selective in choosing the appropriate food in order to maintain the GOLDY quality of her ANGELIC voice. Just an opinion dats all.
@ridemeup You could be right. I certainly don't know enough about the vocal process other than what I've learned from various forums of this nature. I think in the end, Jackie knows best and probably better than any expert. She is a prodigy and so far seems to learn and adapt her vocals faster than any singer in recorded history. What takes professional singers years to master, she seems to do that within days or weeks.
Jackie!!!!!!!, this is your time,! God gave it to you!!!!!!, Use it wisely!!! share!!, spread the news!! , I lived my live trying to accomplish half of your success! , I am an old man, now! , No one will notice me! ."No". no one will notice us! "tell the rest of the world of .."US"!...the other artist !! .god bless you!
@BengalTiger357 For me her best performance of this Puccini opera was on Britain's Got Talent. That video is here on YT on the menu to the right. If Pavarotti had been in the audience that night he would have been thrilled to hear this courageous little lioness sing his favorite aria, the one he ended all his concerts with.
@thejiggyman I have said that several times. But Jackie has said she doesn't want to be an opera singer. That's not to say she won't change her mind(you know women! :D) but for now she wants to stay in the Class/Cross genre. I would love to see her in Julliard if for no other reason than to get some musical training on piano(I don't think Jackie can read music), and to learn some vocal operatic techniques.
@dieseldog00 Sure, she may alter her style a bit, as we've recently seen, but needs Julliard about as much as Mozart or Emily Bear needed piano lessons. Her instrument is her voice. And no, she cannot read music, but I'll bet she's learning. JE is...well, just unique. She has her own style. Imo, going to Julliard would be like her going back to 1st grade. She does have a new voice coach now per a recent tweet, which may account for the lack of chin wobble now, as well as overall presentation.
@bruceh7211 I don't want Jackie to change her style I love her the way she sings now. But I do hope her new coach will take her voice to the next level(if there IS a next level for her). I want her to be the best beyond a shadow of a doubt. And yes I noticed her chin waggle is gone now and that makes me rejoice!! I'm sure Sarah Brightman is glad as well.
After the working over that Mr Tim Page gave her in his attempt to gain ten minuets of fame and the on going rant of his buddy Mr Norman Lebrecht of the Cracked Pot, I doubt that she would want to touch classical music.
I really think she has potential as a classical singer, she's actually a very good singer...but with that said, god help her, singing turandot at age 10 with questionable technique is not going to bode well for her vocal future. I truly hope someone is keeping a close eye on her vocal health, because this really could end poorly for her.
Jackie is examined by an Otolaryngologist every 3-4 months. Her last visit was in December to a Doctor who has worked with many of the top singers, male and female, in the world. He pronounced her vocal instrument in perfect health.
@dieseldog00 I didn't mean to offend anyone by my comments, I truly meant genuine concern. The way she sings just makes me nervous that she is trying to make her voice sound too mature, beyond what she should be doing at this age. I worry that she may burn out early.
With that said, I'm glad that she goes to an Otolaryngologist regularly. Certainly if she is deemed healthy, then let her sing, more power to her. i just hope she has good influences above her encouraging her to stay healthy.
@futurephantom We have seen many so-called "experts", music teachers and the like, say what you said. These nattering nabobs of negativism attract more of their kind until it becomes a slugfest against Jackie. They use Charlotte Church and other flameout child stars as proof that Jackie is not singing correctly, and her parents are using her for their own financial benefit like some other child star parents did, all of which is totally untrue.
@futurephantom If you listen to Jackie when she was 8 to when she turned 10, her voice was like any other child's, bright and rather shallow. She still had the perfect pitch, great range(2+octaves even then, 3+ now) and right-on-pitch interval jumps. When she turned 10 she had her tonsils removed and her voice changed to what you hear now. I think only her voice doctor knows why she sounds like this now and I am not qualified to even speculate on the matter.
@dieseldog00 Hey if she can sing and keep her voice healthy then more power to her. And I do agree that there are some people simply out to flame her, but there are many vocalists and vocal instructors who hear a 10 year old singing nessun dorma with such a mature sounding voice (this mature sounding voice can sometimes be forced unhealthily, god knows I used to do it) and worry that she is may be making common mistakes that can lead to the premature loss of one's voice.
@futurephantom Yes true but these people are posting things on blogs about Jackie and her parents that they have no knowledge of. That's what irks her fans.
Nessun Dorma is a HUGE aria and to my knowledge only three females have ever attempted it; Deanna Durbin in the 30s and 40s; Sarah Brightman and now Jackie. Pretty illustrious company she's in eh? She sang it a lot after her 11th bday but her last was on BGT 8/29. She's not sung it since. Must be a reason but I don't know.
@dieseldog00 Of course I have no knowledge of her vocal health, but as a singer I've seen many talented vocalists try to push their voices too far too early. It's not uncommon for it to happen
It's also a shame that we don't have good recordings of Jackie's version of Schubert's Ave Maria (which she gave at the Houston concert) as well as the Bach/Gounoud 'Ave' and proper 'straight' versions (no flowery piano) of 'Ombra Mai Fu' and 'O mio babbino caro'. And there's so much more she could sing: Fauré's 'Pie Jesu'', Handel's 'Amo Tirsi' , 'Viene o Figlio' and 'Lascia ch'io pianga', Also Mimi's aria from La Bohème and even Un Bel Di'. from Butterfly. That would be truly something!
I fear all this heated argument as to whether or not the supremely talented Miss Evancho should sing this or that operatic aria is likely to be irrelevant, as all her more recent offerings (unless I've missed something!) are distinctly pop/middle-of-the-road oriented. Which possibly suggests the direction she's headed in - doubtless for the usual commercial reasons. What a waste of such a glorious voice it will be if she turns her back on classical music!

and maybe next week after recording all of those arias, she should sing Turandot, as was suggested earlier. Her voice is very similar to that of Maria Callas, or Birgit Nillsson, after all! and maybe after the abuse that her poor little voice will have endured, leaving her chronically hoarse before puberty, the classical vocal world will be respected for their knowledge of the VOICE. I hate to have her be a martyr, but people have to be smacked in the face with tragedy, in order to understand.

I have been watching this thread for a while, and i am utterly in awe. There have been some competent musical ideas and suggestions that have been completely blown off by the nut-jobs that just want to have a tone bath. I am tired of this argument, so i am completely changing my opinion. I think that Jackie Evancho should absolutely sing this aria, and while she is at it, there are really great tenor arias from Il Trovatore, (Di quella pira) or La Boheme (Che Gelida Manina) that she should try!
Jackie is obviously a very gifted girl who is able to do now what it takes others years of training to achieve. And I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but wouldn't it be nice if people just dropped the squabbling and simply shared their appreciation of the lovely gift this young girl is offering to the world.
I concur with your main point, Jackie has been been performing Puccini Arias for 4 years and no major vocal issues. When Jackie performs predominately with her "head voice and does not belt, this virtually puts not strain on the vocal chord. She is a light lyrical soprano with no traces of coloratura which can be damaging to her vocal chords.
The chin wobble is a byproduct of vibrato through lips, chin and tongue, once her lung capacity increases, the chin wobble will cease
@amdidlo *Juilliard doesn't accept students to the college until they have graduated High School. The only Juilliard that kids go to is the pre-college on Saturdays. Its not the same thing.
@PK292TSM you suck go get a life , you are not welcome here and do not come back here, you are so negative, you are a hate mounger, we cheer Jackie, and love her, so just GO AWAY!!!

Whoever is "coaching" this girl should hang herself because what this girl is doing with her voice. I don't fucking care how long of a credential she has, this girl's singing makes want to jump off a bridge because of how tight and squeezed it is...
@PK292TSM I dont think you are negative but just wrong, it could obviously be you are right and the general director and music director of Pittsburgh Opera were both wrong, as well as professional reviewing in New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Just curious, what makes you say she is abusing her voice? You spotted/hear something no one else did?
@PK292TSM Your arrogance and self-important attitude is glaringly apparent, as demonstrated in your moronic statements. Don't like her singing; simple solution, just don't listen. She's doing quite well now, giving joy to people all over the world, and just completed a Command Performance for the Japanese Royal Family. So, voice "expert," is there a bridge close to you?
@bruceh7211 I agree with you, and when I am able to view a poster's channel after reading their comment it usually divulges the necessary information I need to understand their mindset. The person that you are replying to here seems to have a "blank" channel profile. Hmmm, I wonder if that could be considered demonstrative of their mindset and an explanation of their thought processes. Could be, huh?

Just like I don't care how famous Andrea Bocelli is, no matter how much more famous this girl gets, and how many more records she sell,
I HATE THIS KIND OF FAKE CLASSICAL GARBAGE
PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT FREAKING OPERA, OK? OPERA SINGERS DON"T SOUND LIKE LITTLE SPARROWS, OPERA SINGERS HAVE RANGE OF EXPRESSIONS THAT MOVE YOU, THIS IS NOTHING BUT A FREAK SHOW
For comparison, Deanna Durbin's version -- in English -- while acting in the 1947 film, "His Sister's Butler": /watch?v=inV3RlOTOXM in your YouTube browser. Her voice is similar.
@choochooboi can I have tonights LOTO numbers, since you know everything , and the FUTURE, more then GOD himself. I must say I'm in AWE, to be talking to a person that has the universe at his hand and can predict Jackies future....... Dumb Ass!!!
Gorgeous voice but she's no business singing this. It's inappropriate in soooooooo many levels. But you know what, it's cool. She can move her hands like a pop singer so it's ok.
@choochooboi Please read comment in "Top Comments." I'm not going to repeat here. You're so very wrong! She doesn't move her hands like a "pop" singer, but rather to express her emotions in a song. She feels it. Her audience feels it. She emotes &gives everything she has to each song. Her mom explains the meaning of each song to her. Can a deaf person appreciate her? Mute your sound. I have. Yep, sure can, because it's not just her voice that captivates. JE's a master of interpretation.
@bruceh7211 CLEARLY her hands are distracting from what is actually going on in this piece. She doesn't know what she feels cause if she did, she'd realize it's a tad lesbian. Saying she's a "master of interpretation" is insulting to all the great TENORS that have sung this beautiful aria. Shame on you! Again, she's a beautiful tone but much too young and it's the wrong voice type to be singing this. Everything you think is beautiful about this piece are all the notes Puccini himself wrote.
@choochooboi JE sings not only with her voice, but with her expressions, and arm and hand movements; and yes, she does understand what she's singing about. Her mother explains the lyrics to her so she can properly express the emotions of the song. She totally feels the song & captivates her audience. CLEARLY, you don't understand that Jackie is an interpretive genious & a child prodigy. That description has been applied to her in many articles, as well as from music professionals.
@choochooboi Further, please explain how it's inappropriate on "soooooo" many levels. You make a statement, be prepared to substantiate it; not with opinion, but facts. Can you do that?
@bruceh7211 If you knew anything about opera, in particular this one, CALAF, a TENOR, is singing about how PRINCESS Turandot will only learn his name through the silence of a kiss. I acknowledge that she's got a wonderful voice but if you want to kill an 8 year olds voice, go ahead and give them Puccini. Did Charlotte Church wonders! If she's really serious about this, learn art song and how to sing the correct styles of these great composers.
@choochooboi Also, what the fuck is that ending? Puccini never wrote that. Plus she rolls every "r".... unnecessary. She's need a lot of work, talking years, on her technique and her diction. Not trying to sound like an asshole. I'm saying this cause she DOES have a great sound, but too young. If she sucked I'd leave it alone and let her suck. I'm not sitting here giving a voice lesson, THAT'S rude.
@r1ewhgma And that's great! I'm glad you feel that way. If you want to really be moved by a recording of Nessun Dorma, may I suggest Luciano Pavarotti live at the 3 tenors concert conducted by Zubin Mehta or their studio recording with Joan Sutherland, or even Mario Lanza, a wonderful Italian-American tenor with passion that could bring you to tears.
@choochooboi I've heard them both. They should be awesome considering the multitude of years they've spent in study and practice. Jackie has only been singing 2 or three years. There is no comparison
@choochooboi Let her sing what she wants to sing. Same with her arm movements. They may not make sense to some of us, but leave her alone. She will evolve on her own. Listen to "The Lords Prayer" (track 12) on her "Dream With Me" CD. No Mozart, no Puccini there. If I were God, she would have my favor. Listen to it and tell me there is no true feeling there...
@r1ewhgma How is anyone not getting that this is not about feeling. It's about good, healthy singing and how to maintain an instrument. I'm sure she "feels" a lot of things, she's human!
@Dimmerstar9, realy you gona keep going, on, and on, you are the kind of person that critize, a rainbow, or a blooming flower, amajestic forrest, or a snow peak moutain, a tranquail lake, it is not these things you are judging, but yourself!!! Jackie is a very young person with a GOD given gift... Please let flourish on its on, give it TEN years, by then she will blow your socks OFF!!!.... BACK OFF!!!
Like I said, I do respect her talent. In a way, I look up to her because she's made it to fame doing what she loves. I'm just worried that it will be short lived and that we won't hear the same sounds from this amazing child.
As a matter of fact, I've been studying classical voice intensely for two years. I'd like to see your expert vocal knowledge. While it may be that she sounds exceptional and has come a long way since she began her journey, she is developing tension as demonstrated by her chin wobble vibrato. It's also clear that she's modifying her sound to seem more mature. These are both considered by most experts, very damaging.
* a noted otolaryngologist has examined Jackie and pronounced her vocal
cords "pristine"
* TWEETS: @yvieburnett Yvie Burnett “@jackieevancho: My vocal chords are "pristine" according to Dr. Scott Kessler, NYC. * Yvie Burnett (AGT/BGT vocal coach &often at venues with JE) , said "of course they are! U sing healthily and properly!"
Your comments are insubstantial & lack credibilty. In a word, WORTHLESS.
@Dimmerstar9 many are the critics, but few are the artist. I bet you, I could listen to you sing, and I know you would suck stright up, you would never have a talent like Jackie has, so stop trying to put your 2 cents, we don't care, so " GO AWAY"!!!
@365cumoniwnt2leyu Yeah...I too am getting sick of all these opera geeks on here...a bunch of nitpickers who will find flaws with anyone...except themselves. Hell...they even criticize her for "chin wobble"...who cares?
I respect her talent immensely. She does indeed have an amazing gift. However, as far as I can deduce (a bit of breathiness in her tone quality, and a chin wobble accompanying her vibrato) She's trying a bit too hard to sound mature when she's not naturally there. I'm not saying she should give it a break or stop singing in this style, but perhaps sound her age. She should keep her fullness but she doesn't have to have such an unnatrally dark sound. Otherwise she will most likely fizzle.
@Dimmerstar9 JUST LIKE..365cumoniwnt2leyu said along with millions of others who want to say the same thing" JUST GO AWAY"........PLEASE" >>> YOU ARE ANNOYING
The ending is superb, but Calaf's aria has moments thru-out requiring emphatic power. Calaf builds a story: "None shall sleep! Even you, Princess, in your cold bedroom, watch the stars that tremble with love and hope! But my secret is hidden within me; none will know my name! No, no! On your mouth I'll say it when the light shines and my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! No one will know and we will have to, alas, die, die!" Lots of climaxes. Not just the one. Watch Pavarotti.
She is exceptional and would be a waste of talent if she did not sing now.So forget all the technical aspects and microanalysing everything she does.Its better to have tried and failed then to never have tried at all.
@prettycool997 Yes also Nessun Dorma is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and is one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. I can't even sing this right now because my voice is not mature enough to do this piece justice. and in n way am I jealous just look at my page I can actually sing lol but also not to mention that this is a Tenor aria not a Soprano aria. This would be like me trying to sing "Quando Men Vo" by Puccini. It is just not right.
@prettycool997 It doesn't take anything away from her performance. This is an 11 year old singing an opera classic better than most professional singers...period ! Some would say its one of the best renditions every done...
Some would, but no one knowledgeable about classical music. I'm not insulting those who aren't experts on classical music, only saying that different people experience music different ways. It's quite an experience to hear this from one so young, but there are dozens of renditions of this on YouTube that are better from a classical/technical standpoint.
@jaketaz Not from an 11 year old. She sings it better than Sarah Brightman and better than most. Most people wouldn't even listen to this song had it not been for her singing it. She is introducing the genre to many more new people.
She does not sing it better than most, from your comments I can see that you know something about singing, so I know that you know that. She doesn't need defending, she is clearly having success & fame (& I can only assume the money to go with it), with many fans. I don't understand why someone with your knowledge would say she sings it better than most. Surely you've heard Kraus, Pavarotti, Corelli, Bergonzi, Domingo, Gedda, Vickers, Alagna, Grigolo, and Villazon sing this?
@jaketaz I've listened to some but not all of the names mentioned below. I like them.
To compare Jackie's version to any of the below in itself is a tremendous compliment to Jackie and an acknowledgement of her tremendous talent.
That being said, you are comparing Jackie to the Opera professional based on technical competency. No comparison. Jackie's physical limitations prevent that as well as experience. But for sheer beauty of voice and interpretation she beats all by a mile !
Beauty of voice and interpretation are both subjective qualities and not quantifiable. These are your opinions and you are completely entitled to them, and since they are up to personal taste I will not tell you that you're wrong or argue with you about it.
Yeah it's lowered. This is a man's aria, sung by a man in the opera Turandot which it is taken from, and is pretty high. Of course women generally sing things an octave higher than men, and if this were done by this girl singing in the same key, but in the female octave, it would sound much higher and be much harder than it is for her here.
@jaketaz which is why it just doesn't sound right. I don't think songs should be changed and be kept as it originally was meant to be. This obviously tells you that she shouldn't be singing it period. It's ok to sing the song once in a very great while but to sing it more than that will destroy her voice. Children usually are sopranos and have agility because they are so young. She is singing quite low for her age and to me that sounds very abnormal, she is manipulating her voice.
All classical singing is manipulation of the voice.
It doesn't matter to me that the song's been changed, but when someone repeatedly sings too low, it is harmful. No one knows whether Jackie's voice is too low or high for this, because she won't know where her voice lies until she's older.
Again, I don't care if the song's changed, but people should be aware of what is happening, & that this version is much easier to sing. Any girl with good intonation could do this in this key.
I know it doesn't sound right to you but for millions of people, thank God she sang it the way she did. She sounds spectacular and is now more famous than she was before. She is also getting a reputation that when she sings a song, she owns it. That's because her interpretation and her beautiful voice make any song much more than it was before. Now That is a unique talent !
I am all for her living her dream, but she needs to take the right steps and do pieces appropriate for her age because of her vocal chords are not fully developed and she could run into allot of problems down the line. Also notice how her mouth moves to create the vibrato. There is some serious Jaw tension going on there which needs to be fixed. She is great I just don't think that her fame should outweigh good vocal technique.
@trossemmett And exactly who should be the judge of what is appropriate for her to sing...? Her parents, her fans, music professionals, producers or simply Jackie herself...?
@tube7562 okay so when she is older and has no voice because she blew it, and she says I wish people would have told me not to sing these pieces, maybe I would still have my voice now, then I will give her your info so that she can talk to you. Honestly the ignorance is astounding. Her parents should know better, and I am a fan and a music professional, producers only want what makes them money they could care less about her voice, Jackie has parents that should know to make the right decision
Also are you clairvoyant? How would you know if she going to blow her voice?
Show us your video, maybe you can teach us how not to blow your voice?
Ignorant Snob def::A person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field
@trossemmett That's a whole bunch of "Ifs" to speculate with. Yeah, you can give her my number IF she loses her voice and IF she wishes she hadn't sung those pieces...
Honestly your arrogance is astounding in assuming that her parents aren't smart enough to have figured out how to take care of her voice or her career. Just because the decision doesn't correspond to your way of thinking, doesn't make it a bad decision.
@tube7562 That's funny because it's quite evident what road she is taking by looking at the way she sings. Clearly her parents are not smart enough or they just don't know. Also this is not my way of thinking, this is the opera worlds rules that people should respect and not just discard because they are famous.
The opera world are her fiercest detractors, because most of them are so uptight and rigid they can't stand seeing a child do what takes most professionals decades to accomplish. That's the plain and simple truth. That's why most people don't give a hoot what the opera world says. By the way, Jackie doesn't call herself an opera singer....the media does ! She's a classical crossover artist who also sings some operatic arias.
@tube7562 Well I am apart of that opera world, and I'm not uptight or rigid, I know what I see and what I see is a girl who is straining and who is going to be in trouble later in her years. They clearly are not doing a very good job at taking care of her. It doesn't matter if she is singing an aria or if she is an opera singer. She has stepped into the world of opera. I am done with this conversation because it is pointless trying to explain something to a brick wall.
@yomamajama777 Your right my credentials are not superior, but my voice teachers are. This is in no way getting publicity for my chanel, I was simply stated that I have nothing to be jealous of because of a previous comment. Thank you for your advice though it is greatly noted, and don't worry I will be.
Let me repeat myself again...the opera world at large is uptight and rigid and you just proved it. And by the way, this subject has been beaten to death already so yes it is pointless explaining this to a brick wall. Walls don't answer back !
Your last sentence rings true for the majority of famous adult classical singers today. A teacher once explained to me that quivering of any kind in a singer (jaw, tongue, throat, arms/hands etc) is the body's rejection of strain being placed upon it. Just as your legs quiver when you lift something that's too heavy. Therefore, quivering is always a sign of stress.
@jaketaz That's funny you say that because a blogger named supermaren who is a opera singer stated that Jackie does have strain her neck and her jaw quivering was a reaction to stress put on it.
It's a physiological cause-and-effect reaction. People think music is about only art and no science. Anatomy and human physiology and physics and biology are all sciences, and singing is obviously done with the human body, so obviously there is a good degree of science to it.
You must be new to the Jackie Phenomena. The subject has been beaten to death again and again...No one really knows what is going to happen to her voice. She has a team of people including her parents, doctors and musicians who take great care to ensure that she preserves her voice. For example, you will not find her singing Nessun Dorma. She sang it only a handful of times the whole of last year. Its a difficult song and no one on her team wants her to strain her voice.
Nessum Dorma isn't meant for a child period it's meant for a a man. Puccini arias are extremely heavy to begin with no matter what style you sing it in. I am a soprano but I can't sing certain arias. Perfect example I love sola, perduta, abbandonata this was written by puccini I however can't sing it because it's too heavy for my voice. Look up the song it's very powerful and you have to have a voice for it. This is an example of a song not meant for a light voice no matter what way you sing
@yomamajama777 in and of itself, yes she is great. but to some people, it is a big deal that she transposed this, let alone three half steps. A half step in vocal music is a big deal. I am not implying that you are not a musician yourself.
I don't think it is a big deal whether this aria is transposed three half steps, the reason is to protect Jackie's voice. Let us enjoy her execution of Nessun Dorma, maybe
in 5 years she can meet your "Classical Purist" criteria.
@The DivaSharon you seek attention for your life sucks, and this is the only way you can talk with other souls, by beeing negetive towards our Jackie, so quit comming here, and be GONE DEMON! IN THE NAME OF JESUSE CHRIST BE GONE DEMON!!!
@365cumoniwnt2leyu Oh now I see, you're a religious nut...can't understand anything, poor thing. I am not negative towards Jackie. If you can read what I said, I admire her and pity the fact that she is made to sing things too early and inappropriate repertoire. The end. Jesus doesn't like you, you know? You are a misguided soul. You have no clue about my life, which is full of music and is very good. Sorry you have none of your own. God didn't give you a voice.
@TheDivaSharon Can you please tell me HOW you know that she is "made to sing things too early". Just curious to know how you seem to have this inside knowledge when everyone in general, including Jackie, her parents, David Foster, the media all claim she is following her dream and sings because she loves to sing....period. But they could all be wrong since you seem to have some secret inside information that no one is privileged to have.
@365cumoniwnt2leyu There are many young children as talented as Jackie, who is certainly gifted, but they are not part of this mass marketing machine. Without it, she would be another pretty little girl with a wonderful voice and a bright future. I fear for her because she is being pushed to perform much too young and too often. I know there were others who performed young, but they did not do anywhere near as much as Jackie does. She is being treated like she's 20.
@365cumoniwnt2leyu You are just another idiot who doesn't understand that I think Jackie is too special and amazing to be exploited the way she is. The money-grabbers will ruin her gift. Just watch.
@365cumoniwnt2leyu I have idea who biber is, all I know is, Jackie has a beautiful voice and is not using it properly at her age. Italian art songs would be more appropriate.
On the general point of what children should sing: much of the most profound sacred music ever written has been intended to be sung by boy trebles, very few of them any older than Jackie is now. Do they understand what they're singing (usually in Latin)? I very much doubt it. So they shouldn't sing it, then? The point about Jackie is that, while there are thousands of 11-year-old girls that can do a passable job on "Silent Night' and the like, she's the only one who can scale operatic heights.
@Beattie240 Please look up the translation of Nessun Dorma. Have you ever seen Turandot? And whether other children understand what they're singing has nothing to do with presenting a child to the world with a beautiful voice, but singing something completely inappropriate. And she is not the only child who can sing like that. I went to Juilliard when I was 15 and they were all around me. But they were not being exploited and sang proper repertoire.I had an operatic vibrato at 3
@TheDivaSharon When Jackie lungs mature her chin wobble will decrease. The "jaw shaking" is not pronounced as Charlotte, and she is still sing Pop with no major vocal problems. Even Rene Fleming wants to work with her and has not criticize Jackie's vocal technique.
Julliard or no major opera star has criticize Jackie's technique. Besides Bev Sills 4,
Maria Callas 13, Julie Andrews 11, and Cecilla Bartoli 11 started young and had a long productive careers. "Bel Canto Style"
@Beattie240 She's not the only 11 year old who can "scale opertic heights". She is the only one in the public eye who is doing so. Go to the Juilliard Pre College Division on any Saturday and you will see the place brimming with them. That's where they should be. And at 17, upon graduation, they give a recital. Go to those and see and ask them when they started singing. Most of them were born with that kind of voice. It is not that unusual.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? SHE IS JUST A CHILD, AND MY GOODNESS SHE SINGS EVERY NOTE WITH HER WHOLE BEING, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, AWESOME, HEAVENLY..... : )

@kajal33 You and I are alike never liked opera in my 68 years never heard over five minutes at one time, I would turn it off. I am not saying I now like it but there is something about the way Jackie sings her version of it, I could listen to it all day coming from her. There are a lot of people comment she is not doing it right, To them I say get a life, who cares.
littlejackrussell12 2 weeks ago 6
No offence but her voice couldnt hit the high notes and her voice seemed to have swollen inside her throat at 1:12. Im pretty sure once she matures and develops a thicker vocal chord and larger lungs, she would be able to sing like Sissel.
ridemeup 2 weeks ago
@ridemeup I hope to God that Jackie doesn't sing like Sissel. I love Sissel and think she has a extraordinary voice but Jackie is Jackie. She is incredible the way she is. Yes her voice and her technique will improve (its already improved since this video) but none can match the beauty of her voice even at this tender age. How many 11 year olds can bring grown men and women to tears and speechless admiration ! :).
tube7562 2 weeks ago 6

RIP Maestro you are well and truly missed. :( :(

It is really too bad Luciano Pavarotti did not live to hear this young lady sing. She has the potential to be her generations Pavarotti.
thejiggyman 3 weeks ago 4
@thejiggyman I have said that several times. But Jackie has said she doesn't want to be an opera singer. That's not to say she won't change her mind(you know women! :D) but for now she wants to stay in the Class/Cross genre. I would love to see her in Julliard if for no other reason than to get some musical training on piano(I don't think Jackie can read music), and to learn some vocal operatic techniques.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago
@dieseldog00 Sure, she may alter her style a bit, as we've recently seen, but needs Julliard about as much as Mozart or Emily Bear needed piano lessons. Her instrument is her voice. And no, she cannot read music, but I'll bet she's learning. JE is...well, just unique. She has her own style. Imo, going to Julliard would be like her going back to 1st grade. She does have a new voice coach now per a recent tweet, which may account for the lack of chin wobble now, as well as overall presentation.
bruceh7211 3 weeks ago
@bruceh7211 I don't want Jackie to change her style I love her the way she sings now. But I do hope her new coach will take her voice to the next level(if there IS a next level for her). I want her to be the best beyond a shadow of a doubt. And yes I noticed her chin waggle is gone now and that makes me rejoice!! I'm sure Sarah Brightman is glad as well.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago
@Beatti240
After the working over that Mr Tim Page gave her in his attempt to gain ten minuets of fame and the on going rant of his buddy Mr Norman Lebrecht of the Cracked Pot, I doubt that she would want to touch classical music.
kavic1234 3 weeks ago
I really think she has potential as a classical singer, she's actually a very good singer...but with that said, god help her, singing turandot at age 10 with questionable technique is not going to bode well for her vocal future. I truly hope someone is keeping a close eye on her vocal health, because this really could end poorly for her.
futurephantom 3 weeks ago
@futurephantom "Questionable technique"?? Explain yourself.
Jackie is examined by an Otolaryngologist every 3-4 months. Her last visit was in December to a Doctor who has worked with many of the top singers, male and female, in the world. He pronounced her vocal instrument in perfect health.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago
@dieseldog00 I didn't mean to offend anyone by my comments, I truly meant genuine concern. The way she sings just makes me nervous that she is trying to make her voice sound too mature, beyond what she should be doing at this age. I worry that she may burn out early.
With that said, I'm glad that she goes to an Otolaryngologist regularly. Certainly if she is deemed healthy, then let her sing, more power to her. i just hope she has good influences above her encouraging her to stay healthy.
futurephantom 3 weeks ago
@futurephantom We have seen many so-called "experts", music teachers and the like, say what you said. These nattering nabobs of negativism attract more of their kind until it becomes a slugfest against Jackie. They use Charlotte Church and other flameout child stars as proof that Jackie is not singing correctly, and her parents are using her for their own financial benefit like some other child star parents did, all of which is totally untrue.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago 2
@futurephantom If you listen to Jackie when she was 8 to when she turned 10, her voice was like any other child's, bright and rather shallow. She still had the perfect pitch, great range(2+octaves even then, 3+ now) and right-on-pitch interval jumps. When she turned 10 she had her tonsils removed and her voice changed to what you hear now. I think only her voice doctor knows why she sounds like this now and I am not qualified to even speculate on the matter.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago
@dieseldog00 Hey if she can sing and keep her voice healthy then more power to her. And I do agree that there are some people simply out to flame her, but there are many vocalists and vocal instructors who hear a 10 year old singing nessun dorma with such a mature sounding voice (this mature sounding voice can sometimes be forced unhealthily, god knows I used to do it) and worry that she is may be making common mistakes that can lead to the premature loss of one's voice.
futurephantom 3 weeks ago
@futurephantom Yes true but these people are posting things on blogs about Jackie and her parents that they have no knowledge of. That's what irks her fans.
Nessun Dorma is a HUGE aria and to my knowledge only three females have ever attempted it; Deanna Durbin in the 30s and 40s; Sarah Brightman and now Jackie. Pretty illustrious company she's in eh? She sang it a lot after her 11th bday but her last was on BGT 8/29. She's not sung it since. Must be a reason but I don't know.
dieseldog00 3 weeks ago

Beattie240 1 month ago
I fear all this heated argument as to whether or not the supremely talented Miss Evancho should sing this or that operatic aria is likely to be irrelevant, as all her more recent offerings (unless I've missed something!) are distinctly pop/middle-of-the-road oriented. Which possibly suggests the direction she's headed in - doubtless for the usual commercial reasons. What a waste of such a glorious voice it will be if she turns her back on classical music!
Beattie240 1 month ago

and maybe next week after recording all of those arias, she should sing Turandot, as was suggested earlier.

Jrctenor 1 month ago
Jackie is obviously a very gifted girl who is able to do now what it takes others years of training to achieve. And I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but wouldn't it be nice if people just dropped the squabbling and simply shared their appreciation of the lovely gift this young girl is offering to the world.
NiceIsFree 1 month ago 4
@ozviking
The chin wobble is a byproduct of vibrato through lips, chin and tongue, once her lung capacity increases, the chin wobble will cease

choochooboi 1 month ago
@choochooboi Please read comment in "Top Comments." I'm not going to repeat here. You're so very wrong! She doesn't move her hands like a "pop" singer, but rather to express her emotions in a song. She feels it. Her audience feels it. She emotes &gives everything she has to each song. Her mom explains the meaning of each song to her. Can a deaf person appreciate her? Mute your sound. I have. Yep, sure can, because it's not just her voice that captivates. JE's a master of interpretation.
bruceh7211 1 month ago

That description has been applied to her in many articles, as well as from music professionals.
bruceh7211 1 month ago 6
@choochooboi Further, please explain how it's inappropriate on "soooooo" many levels. You make a statement, be prepared to substantiate it; not with opinion, but facts. Can you do that?
bruceh7211 1 month ago
@bruceh7211 If you knew anything about opera, in particular this one, CALAF, a TENOR, is singing about how PRINCESS Turandot will only learn his name through the silence of a kiss. I acknowledge that she's got a wonderful voice but if you want to kill an 8 year olds voice, go ahead and give them Puccini. Did Charlotte Church wonders! If she's really serious about this, learn art song and how to sing the correct styles of these great composers.
choochooboi 1 month ago
@choochooboi Also, what the fuck is that ending? Puccini never wrote that. Plus she rolls every "r".... unnecessary. She's need a lot of work, talking years, on her technique and her diction.

On your mouth I'll say it when the light shines and my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! No one will know and we will have to, alas, die, die!" Lots of climaxes. Not just the one. @jaketaz Not from an 11 year old. She sings it better than Sarah Brightman and better than most. Most people wouldn't even listen to this song had it not been for her singing it. She is introducing the genre to many more new people.
tube7562 1 month ago
@tube7562
She does not sing it better than most, from your comments I can see that you know something about singing, so I know that you know that. She doesn't need defending, she is clearly having success & fame (& I can only assume the money to go with it), with many fans. I don't understand why someone with your knowledge would say she sings it better than most. Surely you've heard Kraus, Pavarotti, Corelli, Bergonzi, Domingo, Gedda, Vickers, Alagna, Grigolo, and Villazon sing this?
jaketaz 1 month ago
@jaketaz I've listened to some but not all of the names mentioned below. I like them.
To compare Jackie's version to any of the below in itself is a tremendous compliment to Jackie and an acknowledgement of her tremendous talent.
That being said, you are comparing Jackie to the Opera professional based on technical competency. No comparison. Jackie's physical limitations prevent that as well as experience. But for sheer beauty of voice and interpretation she beats all by a mile !
tube7562 1 month ago
@tube7562
Beauty of voice and interpretation are both subjective qualities and not quantifiable. These are your opinions and you are completely entitled to them, and since they are up to personal taste I will not tell you that you're wrong or argue with you about it.

@prettycool997

She is singing quite low for her age and to me that sounds very abnormal, she is manipulating her voice.
prettycool997 1 month ago
@prettycool997
Any girl with good intonation could do this in this key.
jaketaz 1 month ago
@jaketaz Lets see some videos of these girls with good intonation singing this song...I'm really curious to see them.
tube7562 1 month ago
@prettycool997
I know it doesn't sound right to you but for millions of people, thank God she sang it the way she did. She sounds spectacular and is now more famous than she was before. She is also getting a reputation that when she sings a song, she owns it. That's because her interpretation and her beautiful voice make any song much more than it was before. Now That is a unique talent !
tube7562 1 month ago 2
@prettycool997
That wasn't supposed to be a secret. That has been discussed openly before.
tube7562 1 month ago
I am all for her living her dream, but she needs to take the right steps and do pieces appropriate for her age because of her vocal chords are not fully developed and she could run into allot of problems down the line. Also notice how her mouth moves to create the vibrato. There is some serious Jaw tension going on there which needs to be fixed. She is great I just don't think that her fame should outweigh good vocal technique.
trossemmett 1 month ago
@trossemmett i agree with you totally!
prettycool997 1 month ago
@trossemmett And exactly who should be the judge of what is appropriate for her to sing...? Her parents, her fans, music professionals, producers or simply Jackie herself...?
tube7562 1 month ago
@tube7562 okay so when she is older and has no voice because she blew it, and she says I wish people would have told me not to sing these pieces, maybe I would still have my voice now, then I will give her your info so that she can talk to you. Honestly the ignorance is astounding. Her parents should know better, and I am a fan and a music professional, producers only want what makes them money they could care less about her voice, Jackie has parents that should know to make the right decision

yomamajama777 1 month ago
@trossemmett That's a whole bunch of "Ifs" to speculate with. Yeah, you can give her my number IF she loses her voice and IF she wishes she hadn't sung those pieces...
Honestly your arrogance is astounding in assuming that her parents aren't smart enough to have figured out how to take care of her voice or her career. Just because the decision doesn't correspond to your way of thinking, doesn't make it a bad decision.
tube7562 1 month ago
@tube7562 That's funny because it's quite evident what road she is taking by looking at the way she sings. Clearly her parents are not smart enough or they just don't know. Also this is not my way of thinking, this is the opera worlds rules that people should respect and not just discard because they are famous.
trossemmett 1 month ago
@trossemmett
She's a classical crossover artist who also sings some operatic arias.
tube7562 1 month ago
@tube7562 Well I am apart of that opera world, and I'm not uptight or rigid, I know what I see and what I see is a girl who is straining and who is going to be in trouble later in her years. They clearly are not doing a very good job at taking care of her. It doesn't matter if she is singing an aria or if she is an opera singer. She has stepped into the world of opera. I am done with this conversation because it is pointless trying to explain something to a brick wall.

@trossemmett
I have seen your videos and I admit you a accomplished vocalist for you age
The only advice is that criticizing a successful vocalist (Jackie) is a losing proposition.
You credentials are not superior to Jackie's vocal coach (Yvie Burnett)
Getting publicity for for your channel by denouncing Jackie's vocal technique makes you look petty and desperate.
Let's see if you become a successful singer and get a recording contract !
yomamajama777 1 month ago
@yomamajama777 Your right my credentials are not superior, but my voice teachers are. This is in no way getting publicity for my chanel, I was simply stated that I have nothing to be jealous of because of a previous comment. Thank you for your advice though it is greatly noted, and don't worry I will be.
trossemmett 1 month ago
@trossemmett
If your voice teachers have superior to Yvie Burnett (trained as an operatic mezzosoprano, and sung professionally with the Welsh National Opera)
Name the vocal instructors that you are involved with so other aspiring
young singers can learn from. These vocal instructors have they performed as a professional opera singer?
Also are they willing to publicly denounce Jackie vocal technique. I doubt it,
they risk there reputation !
yomamajama777 1 month ago
@trossemmett
Let me repeat myself again...the opera world at large is uptight and rigid and you just proved it. And by the way, this subject has been beaten to death already so yes it is pointless explaining this to a brick wall. Walls don't answer back !
tube7562 1 month ago
@trossemmett Her parents who live with her and take care of her don't know any better but you, after watching a couple of videos know better....???
Wow ! Really...
tube7562 1 month ago
@trossemmett
Therefore, quivering is always a sign of stress.
jaketaz 1 month ago 2
@jaketaz That's funny you say that because a blogger named supermaren who is a opera singer stated that Jackie does have strain her neck and her jaw quivering was a reaction to stress put on it.
prettycool997 1 month ago
@prettycool997
It's a physiological cause-and-effect reaction. People think music is about only art and no science. Anatomy and human physiology and physics and biology are all sciences, and singing is obviously done with the human body, so obviously there is a good degree of science to it.
jaketaz 1 month ago
@trossemmett

WOOAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Rainbowz131 1 month ago
Personally, I think she sings this song much better than Pavarotti.
MySwagIsSwag 1 month ago
Nessum Dorma isn't meant for a child period it's meant for a a man. Puccini arias are extremely heavy to begin with no matter what style you sing it in. I am a soprano but I can't sing certain arias. Perfect example I love sola, perduta, abbandonata this was written by puccini I however can't sing it because it's too heavy for my voice. Look up the song it's very powerful and you have to have a voice for it. This is an example of a song not meant for a light voice no matter what way you sing

yomamajama777 2 months ago
@yomamajama777 in and of itself, yes she is great. but to some people, it is a big deal that she transposed this, let alone three half steps. A half step in vocal music is a big deal. I am not implying that you are not a musician yourself.
Peace
lilmilyo 1 month ago
@lilmilyo
I don't think it is a big deal whether this aria is transposed three half steps, the reason is to protect Jackie's voice. Let us enjoy her execution of Nessun Dorma, maybe
in 5 years she can meet your "Classical Purist" criteria.
Peace be with You!

TheDivaSharon 2 months ago

TheDivaSharon 2 months ago
@365cumoniwnt2leyu I have idea who biber is, all I know is, Jackie has a beautiful voice and is not using it properly at her age. Italian art songs would be more appropriate.
TheDivaSharon 2 months ago
On the general point of what children should sing: much of the most profound sacred music ever written has been intended to be sung by boy trebles, very few of them any older than Jackie is now. Do they understand what they're singing (usually in Latin)? I very much doubt it. So they shouldn't sing it, then? The point about Jackie is that, while there are thousands of 11-year-old girls that can do a passable job on "Silent Night' and the like, she's the only one who can scale operatic heights.
Beattie240 2 months ago
@Beattie240 Please look up the translation of Nessun Dorma. Have you ever seen Turandot? And whether other children understand what they're singing has nothing to do with presenting a child to the world with a beautiful voice, but singing something completely inappropriate. And she is not the only child who can sing like that. I went to Juilliard when I was 15 and they were all around me. But they were not being exploited and sang proper repertoire.I had an operatic vibrato at 3
TheDivaSharon 2 months ago
@TheDivaSharon Sorry, my response did not go to the right person. I know you know this aria.
TheDivaSharon 2 months ago
@TheDivaSharon When Jackie lungs mature her chin wobble will decrease. The "jaw shaking" is not pronounced as Charlotte, and she is still sing Pop with no major vocal problems. Even Rene Fleming wants to work with her and has not criticize Jackie's vocal technique.
Julliard or no major opera star has criticize Jackie's technique. Besides Bev Sills 4,
Maria Callas 13, Julie Andrews 11, and Cecilla Bartoli 11 started young and had a long productive careers. "Bel Canto Style"
yomamajama777 2 months ago
@Beattie240 She's not the only 11 year old who can "scale opertic heights". She is the only one in the public eye who is doing so. Go to the Juilliard Pre College Division on any Saturday and you will see the place brimming with them. That's where they should be. And at 17, upon graduation, they give a recital. Go to those and see and ask them when they started singing. Most of them were born with that kind of voice. It is not that unusual.
