All Maytag engines are two-stroke. The engine is ignition-governed. A governor in the flywheel controls the ignition.

  • Where's the gas tank ?

  • I have a Model 82 that I restored several years ago, mine doesn't have those extensions on the fuel tank though, just a tab with an elongated hole cast on each end of the tank.

  • Reeeally interesting, how it works :-)

  • Thanks!

  • That is too cool! Why does it pop every few seconds? Is that the exhaust valve?

  • Thanks, it pops when the engine fires. It is a hit and miss throttled by a weighted gov. When it pops, it is firing.

It's a 2-stroke engine; it has no exhaust valve.

  • wow thats awsome nice and clean aswell
