only problem with hydrostatic is that it limits your speed so much. not saying this is built for speed, but if you coulda had the rear tired be conventionally driven by chain, then when you got up to a certain speed it disengaged the front so that you could hit a high top speed also...that woudl be cool...but very complicated.
@Fr0z3nFr0g dosent appear to have much torque in the low end either? this is way too much work for too little reward. although for a scratch build this is awesomely impressive.
Why the hell does every comment on youtube read like it was written by a retarded eight year old speaking English as a third language? How could a retarded eight year old learn a second language, let alone a third? This is a mysterious world we live in.
This has a variable displacement piston pump and a fixed displacement hydraulic motor in each wheel. The valves in the manifold allow it to steer without bucking on any surface and still have a true 2 wheel drive.
The foot controls are a little weird for a motorcycle. I have 8 bikes total and they all drive different from each other. I wasn't running full throttle in this video at all. I ride it a little harder now that it has a few hours on it.
abruptly...

A hydraulic leak in the middle of nowhere ... won't be fixing that with duct tape.

@KLRJUNE Carry extra hoses and fluid. Of course nothing prevents that problem like regular maintenance.

I saw your thread in a forum where you built this thing from the ground up.
It is a cool concept and a hell of a project, but it is low in practicality and efficiency.

it would sound better (and quiet) with mini satellite hydraulic displacement pump and motors

@hondacr60r Kinda hard to drive both wheels by chain...

can't link a chain to the front wheel

@meanman1992
Suzuki did it on a 250 cc Motocross bike in the Mid eighties though.

Does this use a variable displacement pump or is the slower speeds controlled just by valves/throttle?

Outstanding, I was directed to your site by a hydraulics forum, I will be reading it fully.
I want to build a hydrostatic mini chopper, I have my own unique ideas how to do it (too much to go into here), but your bike gives me hope.
Were the foot controls confusing at first? I'm a daily Motorcycle rider, I think your foot controlled valves would give me pause for a little bit.
The engine doesn't sound like it is at full throttle, did you run at a lower speed because it was the first test?

It doesn't seem like he engineered the bike with high speed in mind... it's a workhorse, like a Rokon.
