I agree with you on the store bought bookshelves. They are cheaply made no matter how much you spend. Then I spent more money buying more book shelves when they buckled under the weight. Then I did shelving like yours 8 years ago and I never had any problems or had to replace them again.

This is amazing!!!!! I told my mom about what your husband did to build your shelf and we're going to do the same thing. I thought I had a great shelf and my mom had an amazing library but this surpasses anything I've seen outside of a large bookstore. I really don't think I could give up the experience of a real, physical book for a Kindle. Besides that, After I'm done reading a book, I love to just set it on my shelf and have it as I kind of...reminder. If that makes any sense. If I buy a Kindle or Nook (I think I would go for the Nook), not only am I scared that I won't like the feel of it, but I won't have that book forever. If I really love it, I'll have to buy a physical copy to hold onto forever.
