@rdltng Yes I have considered "carrying on the legacy" and have disused this with my grandpa, but i think i'll get my education first then make a decision. Me and my grandpa will be meeting up with the King jerry soon and i want to discus becoming a wrestler with him too.
@rdltng Well i'm just a freshman in high school but I still love to think about carrying on the legacy and Hey did yall know that Muhammad Ali was inspired by my grandfather. He said he wouldn't have been who he was without have talking with my grandfather.
I agree the old school wrestling and ring Psychology was great. and simple moves such as dropkicks and take downs ment something......Gorgous George knew how to get the fans to hate him. he was next to Lou Thez one of the most watched wrestlers in the bussiness in the early days of TV plus the first to use enterance music.
I met some weird evangelist about 15 years ago that claimed to be this Gorgeous George, but I read the original one died in the 60's. I think the one I met was a fake.
There was a guy who wrestled for a while who called himself Gorgeous George, Jr. It's possible you may have net that guy, since nobody really knows what happened to him.
Yeah, I checked him on wikipedia and it says he had his name legally changed to George Wagner. The real Gorgeous George's name was George Wegner (pronounced the same as Wagner, but spelled different.) Wiki also says he drives a truck in TN now. Said nothing about him being an Evangelist, but Wiki misses a lot of stuff. Though, from all reports, yeah, he is a little bizarre.
Never trust Wiki. Anybody can go change what it says. If I wanted to, I could go change it to where it says he's my dad or Gorgeous George is still alive and faked his death.
So reminiscent of Goldust and I love Goldust...but now I see his inspiration, the original Gorgeous George and I'm in awe

nhl09gosensgo 1 year ago
It's amazing to be honest that all it takes in the these clips of this era was a few simple dropkicks and take downs. I really enjoyed this match.

Those running headbutts in the corner are entertaining by today's standards. I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody use that.

a different talent can wrestle and make people laugh with his antics

Awesomeness! There'd be no Ric Flair, Macho Man, Shawn Michaels, Rick Rude, or any arrogant heel without Gorgeous George

Agreed. GG was the granddaddy of them all.

You're right, the "real" George died in '63 and the only "gospel" he ever spread was the gospel of narcissism. His leading "disciple:"
Cassius M. Clay, Jr. aka Muhammad Ali.

I think it was Jr. He was a little bizarre... He signed my Villains of Wrestling video as George Wagner.

The G.Geo. who was an evangelist was George Grant. G Wagner & G Grant once wrestled each other in a Gorgeous George VS Gorgeous George
I knew G. Grant & he stayed in my home several times.

Okay, well that might have just solved the mystery of Reverend Gorgeous. Jenkies!
