The lack of blu-ray bars on my packaging pleases me greatly. As for the DVD sized slip cover, not a fan, I would like my slip cover to fit perfectly with my blu-ray cases. I love the Hey, Nice Package! videos you guys are doing, I enjoy hearing out the thought process you go through when making these, esp with Eva 2.22. It also helps that I'm a GD major too :3.
I love it that you guys are using Blu-ray cases now. The only thing that could make this better is if the cases looked like the Blu-ray cases put out by Criterion Collection... ;)
FUNimation if you were smart you would make the artbox big enough to hold dvd size cases, but then put the blu-ray size ones inside with a small filler box over top of them. This way everyone is happy and that little filler box might come in handy for LE items like keychains etc. (please consider this)
I love them. I don't know about the sizing but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm kinda a freak about having things all be the same size on my dvd shelf but DNAngel sorta screwed that one for me. I need to get some money in the bank so I can get Princess Jellyfish. <3
Anyway to get on-topic after my comment on Japan's prices vs. ours, I don't know what to really think of this to be honest. I have yet to get a combo pack release (I'm intending to soon.), so it won't affect me too much.
@CorvetteLover623 I really like the combo pack (even though Anime in HD is a little annoying in my personal oppinion) because you're getting the DVD version + the Blu-ray version, which I recently got a PS3 so I can actually use it. It's nice to have options.
I would prefer more extras as well. As I said in the survey, I would pay $200+ for a 24 - 26 episode set if it's got some good extras. I like interviews with the ORIGINAL cast and director. I could not care less about the American voice actors. No offense, but it just is not of interest to me.
Nicer packaging would be great too. I understand that nicer packaging + tons of extras and maybe OSTs + other goodies and such would cost a lot of money.
@uguuerik Indeed, I hate paying for the dubs. I prefer original DVDs (even with the original box) with English subtitles. Put GOOD English subtitles in the episodes and there you go! That's what I'm buying, not crappy dubs. I don't mind if there's a DUB on my DVD but I'll just ignore it as long as the DVD is not more expensive because of it.
@uguuerik Just because you like to read your anime or have the ability to understand what is being said doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just think it's rude to those of us who enjoy the dub. I mean, we like Anime because of the story. Most of us couldn't give a shit what the characters sound like. As for cutting costs... that won't happen. I bought Blue Exorcist and Special A (which are only subbed) and they cost more than most of the Dubs.
@uguuerik while that's one way to do it, I would definitely miss getting Dubs, especially from FUNimation. Even if you just end up watching the sub, it's always interesting to see someone else's take on the show from another cultural mindset.
I admittedly HATE the DVD sized slipcover with the BD case. I want a BD sized slipcover with it. Other than that, things are looking pretty good.
Now if Funimation would just stop replacing the OP and ED credits with their own. ORIGINAL OP and ED in tact with additional Funimation credits AFTER that is the way to go. Nozomi has it right. Also, subtitles maintaining honorifics would be preferred. Other than that, I do think things are at least moving in the right direction with packaging.
They also need to re-release Trigun with all of the openings intact (or as extras at least) since there was a different one for each episode after 2 & FUNimation dropped them from the DVDs (repeating Pioneer/Geneon's mistake before they fixed it with the Remix discs) & only included them on their online sub streams while their dub streams & DVDs used a creditless version of episode 1 & 2's opening with their own credits.
Awesome new packaging! It'd be cool if (in the future) Funimation could make the blu-ray cases for the DVDs a different color like gray or red (kinda like how the PS3 blu-ray cases are clear), just to help distinguish the DVDs from the blu-ray discs better. It's not a complaint, just a fan's suggest for future releases if possible. But I do like what you guys did with these releases so far! Thank you! :D
This is why I love FUNimation. They do not try to censor Internet. Instead, they provide us streaming with ad-revenue to them and encourage us to buy the DVDs! Before buying something, I always watch it first then buy if I liked it, and with this FUNimation channel, I am able to do so. If only all companies would do this, it would be better for everyone!
I am really tempted by this Jellyfish pack but I'm out of money right now... :(
That is the gayest thing I think I have ever seen. You actually think you can shorten the size of the box and use eco-cases and then ask the same amount of money? I don't think so! Until you go back to the DVD size cases I'm going to watch new series online.
@p38lightning7 So you're admittedly going to pirate "licensed" anime because of a 3/4 inch difference in the packaging? OCD much? Just like any person with common sense, Funimation is trying to profit a little more from what little money they already make;eco-case is a reasonable move that shouldn't be criticized over, unless you're THAT OCD. If you think ANY anime distributor is loaded with cash, then go to AnimeNewsNetwork and listen to a few of their podcast episodes to know the truth.
@wakazhi Oh, and where did you ever read "pirated" in my comment exactly? huh? I was thinking about Crunchyroll dumbass, and yes, I do have a problem with these cases. Espically now that I have over 400 dvds and no blu-ray only series. How there really going to make more money by selling the public a cheap product is beyond me and mind you I am well aware of the markets. If anything DVD releases cost less than blu-ray ones and are of the same or better quality (provided you have an upconverter).
@p38lightning7 U mad? The only thing that's cheap is you if you think spending 3x less than what Japan spends on anime is gay. Go to Aniplex's channel if you want to complain about prices or even packaging, because the last two boxsets I got from Aniplex aren't exactly sturdy compared to Funi's chipboard boxes, despite how much more they cost. Btw, you watch anime online "legally"? Good for you then! Sadly, I don't know too many people that watch anime legally unless they have netflix.
The only thing that's dumb is you if you think the Japanese spend 3x more than what I do on anime. I'm sure they have used dvd shops.. You can go to Aniplex's channel if you want to complain about stuff you've already bought, because I boycott Aniplex and NIS products. "despite how much more they cost" < looks like your the cheapass.. Do not reply with more nonsense comments and untrue stories about expensive dvds. I'm sure alot of people wait for price drops..
@p38lightning7 Despite whether or not most otaku in Japan buy used dvds, that doesn't change the fact that it's a heck of a lot cheaper in the US (except for import releases by Aniplex). In Akihabara, used "manga" is definitely circulated among shops, but I've never heard of it being as frequent with "anime" sold in Japan. I don't have a problem with Aniplex or NIS, otherwise I wouldn't buy their anime; I'm just trying to make a point that your complaints towards Funi are petty excuses.
@wakazhi You clearly have not considered that there is a currency value difference and that the amount of money Japanese citizens earn could be more than in the US. Secondly, I feel it is safe to say that the Japanese do not buy as many dvds due to the fact they have dedicated anime channels. So just like here in the US I do not feel willing to buy a showon dvd simply because its on tv, get it? Lastly, they are not excuses, they are satisfaction requirements. If they aren't met I won't buy..
@p38lightning7 According to ANN, anime DVD sales went down 24.4% and anime blu-ray sales went up 31.6% in just the 1st half of 2011, and 57% of blu-rays sold in Japan were anime. The market and consumers' mindset in Japan is different from the US. How most otaku in Japan value anime is different from how most western otaku value it. The otaku in Japan deserve to have high expectations for their $60+ for 2 episodes a case.At the prices we pay, high expectations are unreasonable and unrealistic
@wakazhi That is not relevant. "otaku" (as you call them) in America don't have as many options for watching their shows. High expectations my ass, its the same show no matter where its released, the "expectations" are the same. -and- I have already warned you once, no more bullshit comments. Your one more away from persistant and continuous complaint letters to the mod.
@p38lightning7 "otaku (as you call them) in America don't have as many options for watching their shows". Are you that ignorant? The US has Hulu, Crunchyroll, Netflix, Crackel, Funimation website, Nozomi, ANN, TheAnimeNetwork. I've heard so many people outside of the US tell me how they wish they had half of the legal streaming sites (if any) that we have in the US.
@p38lightning7 Here's a reality check for you. Anime is a "luxury" product that's imported, not mainstream. Do you know what "supply and demand" means? The "demand" for anime in the US is not that high (compared to most American media) because it's a niche market. That kind of demand is what factors the supply to be suited for a niche market, which means the supply is very limited. "Very limited" supply means that the price has to be higher in order for the company to not lose money.
@p38lightning7 "You've been warned?" I have a better case for reporting you for commiting slander, hate text against Funimation's products, and using profanity on Funimation's channel. In my case, it'd be nice to report this "issue" because if they look at what you ignorantly typed up, you'll just be making a fool out of yourself, lol
@wakazhi Actually, if you really did your research you would find that in the terms of service there is nothing about using explicit language. Hate speech, which is listed, refers to racial slurs and other inappropriate terms or saying about culture etc. It also says you should not say anything you wouldn't be willing to say to another persons face directly, and believe me sir, I would say that to your face. An just so your aware there was no hate text towards products on this VIDEO PAGE.E-O-D
@p38lightning7 Where in my message did I type "hate speech". You're confusing it with "hate text" which is "the act of writing and sending disparaging, angry or otherwise hostile text messages". The key words from there in your case are "angry-text-messages", because the average person that receives a message from a sender who's cursing at them and name-calling would assume that the sender is somewhat angry. And you say you didn't criticize aka "hate text towards products on this VIDEO"?
@wakazhi I was refering to the terms of service, READ ABOUT IT. Some people just use language in their everyday life as it can become a bad-habit which does not suggest anything more. Really? Your some saint.. The way you toss around the term OCD. Which I find offensive seeing as how I know people who have had it. In fact, that means YOU are in DIRECT violation of the terms of use. (and) Finally, I am allowed to express my opinion towards any product I desire. I called them cheap. E-O-D
@p38lightning7 Sorry if "OCD" really offended you; I call myself OCD when it comes to drawing and coloring for fan art (and sometimes I think it's true, with art that is). But the fact that you brought that up as a way to justify your actions prove your guilt. We both said something unprofessional and insulting one way or another. the end
@p38lightning7 Here's what your "hate text" that you typed against Funimation: 1) "FUNimation if you were smart you would make the artbox big enough to hold dvd size cases". 2) "That is the gayest thing I think I have ever seen. You actually think you can shorten the size of the box and use eco-cases and then ask the same amount of money? I don't think so!"
@wakazhi That is in no way hateful. I simply expressed that I thought the design is cheap and it will cause the loss of sales by me, a consumer. It is also notable to point out you chopped up my paragraph and reconstructed it. The part where I said " that is the gayest thing I've ever seen" is not the direct point. What is the point is its pretty obvious your just out to find everything I say wrong and fetch the last word. An really you can have it, its not worth it, but you can have it..
@p38lightning7 I copied-and-pasted your words from the first word of the sentence to the period, so that's not the same as reconstructing. So you're saying that insulting something that Funi made isn't insulting them directly? wow. Yes, I did try to find what you said because unlike you, I back up what I say with proof. You can "express your opinion" all you want, but if you don't have something reasonable and neutral to back it up other than saying it's cheap, then your opinion is worthless.
@p38lightning7 Hate to break down your argument, but the channels that air this stuff, they air it late at night (Like 2 AM), and re-runs rarely happen. There aren't all that many "dedicated" anime channels. Also, the cost of living in Japan is higher, and according to the CIA world fact book, Japan makes less money than us, they rank in the top 25, us, top 10 IIRC.
@CorvetteLover623 Truth. A lot of Americans seem to have the impression that anime is aired at all times on many channels and don't realize that most of their favorite series are aired between midnight and 4 AM. Mostly just series like One Piece get actual good time slots.
So I'm guessing there's complaining about prices again in the comments? Might as well inform people. Want to know how much Japan pays for anime? $60-$100 for 2-4 episodes. Madoka was 6 $90 BD singles (DVD wasn't much cheaper.), so it was almost $600 for 12 episodes. Thought I'd throw Japanese prices out there for food for thought before people complain about our cheap prices.
@CorvetteLover623 One episode of an anime 60-100 bucks? Don't make me laugh. Imagine the cost of the paper they used to animate, then apply the cost of paint and paper for the back grounds then apply the money for paying the workers... Etc. No an episode will go around $1000 bucks at MINIMUM.
@CorvetteLover623 2D Japanese animations aren't a keepsake, so wasting precious Gas Money $40+ to fill a tank on a Box set is ridiculous in Today's Economy. The Past is Irrelevant. The majority of Japanese citizens watch Anime, that's why they pay so much for anime. I own 30+ DVD boxsets, all have been bought with price in mind.
@JustTP94 (Man, feels like I'm on a forum.), the majority of Japanese citizens watch anime? I don't know where you go that from, not even half the population is all that into it (Otaku are looked down upon there.). A survey that was ran recently in Japan polled 1/4 are otaku, not a majority factor. Many can even say anime is a niche market in Japan also. Those singles usually sell a few to a couple thousand copies per volume, not millions like the Call of Duty video games sell.
@CorvetteLover623 I hate Call of Duty for that same reason... anyways... There was a poll that about 80% of the Japanese Population watches Anime, I never said they were of the "Otaku" hardcore anime fans....
@CorvetteLover623 So, for a niche market, I'm saying the prices aren't worth the money... which is why people download the series... (I own 30+ boxsets and have spent over 500$ for the anime industry...).... I'm a valued downloader and Netflix watcher aswell... as long as I stay with anime, I'll buy the series I like (if reasonable) and enjoy the good shows being put out.
So, For anyone who bought season one of Sengoku Basara on DVD will be unable to fit season one and two together in the art box since it's bluray size?
Also can't wait, preordered Sengoku Basara 2 a couple weeks ago & I know rightstuf does sometimes tend to ship out preorders early but mine's still not yet shipped D:
Hoping to preorder Princess Jellyfish in the coming weeks
i WILL preorder that right now! Thank you for adjusting the cases! Also question: It's not just the LE's w/ artboxes, correct? The regular editions will be like the SB1 release? And can we assume all releases after these two will follow suit?
These SRPs are ridiculous in today's economy.... the SRPs should be $49.99 max and then retailers could sell for like $29.99 so people would actually buy anime...
@JustTP94 - People already do buy anime at those prices. You're just too cheap. XD It's people like you who are part of the problem that caused Bandai Entertainment to effectively close down here in R1. You aren't willing to spend more money on an anime release b/c you've been conditioned by FUNimation's cheap prices and refuse to buy anything higher. >_> FUNimation is a business and they have to turn a profit. They can't do that if they lower their prices even further. >_>
@AnUnknownAnonymous Well, lets all be grateful that we don't live in Japan, where you have to pay about $80 or so for a volume with at the most 3 episodes. Fuck that.
@AnUnknownAnonymous American anime fans are just so cheap these days. And maybe they don't have the money. That's fine. But then why feel entitled to watch a ton of anime for nothing and give nothing back?
That said, I watch a lot of fansubs myself. It helps me determine what Japanese and what US releases I feel are worth purchasing. So while I cannot justify what I do, I do love to try before i buy. Blind buying is fun, but I prefer to really enjoy my purchases these days.
@JustTP94 You must be pretty young to be complaining about the price. In the '90s, $29.99 only got you one VHS tape with 2 episodes on it. Seriously, people should NOT be complaining about how "expensive" anime is these days, because it's not.
@Yukimu Yea. It also doesn't hurt to consider Japanese prices. How about $60 - $90 for 2 or 3 episodes?
Anime is not a thriving industry here or even in Japan. If you love anime like I do then I would say PLEASE SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY. Even if you can only afford a couple series a year. Fine. Maybe watch some legal streams too. Great. Better than watching fansubs and buying NOTHING as a lot of my friends unfortunately do.
@uguuerik Yup, it's never been mainstream here. Plus, it's dying here, Google "Anime Market Pegged" and click on the first result, that's the state of the market here. On ANNCast (The latest one, 1/13), Zac explained some things from 15:00-18:00 on anime prices.
I try to support releases as much as I can here (I even haven't actively bought video games for 3 years. I don't get as many as I used to.), even though I don't have a job. I watch the legal streams, and I buy the DVD's/BD's.
@Yukimu Agreed, even though I'm 17, didn't really get into anime until I was 14, didn't start finally buying until last year (Finally got more money, thank you lawn mowing!). Here's it's not expensive (I mean seriously, complaining about 11-13 episodes of Bleach for $30 at Rightstuf?), in Japan, oh yes. I don't consider even the Madoka LE's expensive or overpriced.
Guess what makes more money people, the Japanese releases despite them being way more money. Cheap gets you only so far.
@Yukimu 100% Agree with you. I remember when I wanted to buy a box set (Sailor Moon for exmaple) It was $20 for 4 episodes or it was $100 for dub episodes ....A Set, and that was 10 or a few years ago. So now the fact that I can now get a box set for 20 or even 50 bucks which might be pretty expensive it most case but in I would rather spend $50 to get Not only a dvd but blu-ray so just in case either of them break i have the other one set...I say we're pretty damn Lucky!
@Yukimu Also now with the free steaming and people watching animes for free,i would really want to ask Funiamtion, or almost any company how well they are doing with sales. For me it'll just break my heart to this company go like borders. :( But What really upsets me is when people ask the company to make another season when all they did was watch it and didn't even buy it.
@FiammettaRey We're at a loss lol. I would buy the new version so my collection looks better. BUT my first season is signed by jonny. SO i'll keep it this way XD
great packaging. the dvd size case for blu ray discs previously looked dated, and it was plain wack.

godzilla0083 1 month ago
Anyway to get on-topic after my comment on Japan's prices vs. ours, I don't know what to really think of this to be honest. I have yet to get a combo pack release (I'm intending to soon.), so it won't affect me too much.
CorvetteLover623 1 month ago
@CorvetteLover623 I really like the combo pack (even though Anime in HD is a little annoying in my personal oppinion) because you're getting the DVD version + the Blu-ray version, which I recently got a PS3 so I can actually use it. It's nice to have options.
LifelessVessel 1 month ago
I would prefer more extras as well. As I said in the survey, I would pay $200+ for a 24 - 26 episode set if it's got some good extras. I like interviews with the ORIGINAL cast and director. I could not care less about the American voice actors. No offense, but it just is not of interest to me.
Nicer packaging would be great too. I understand that nicer packaging + tons of extras and maybe OSTs + other goodies and such would cost a lot of money.
Here is how you cut costs: ELIMINATE THE DUBS!
uguuerik 1 month ago
@uguuerik Indeed, I hate paying for the dubs. I prefer original DVDs (even with the original box) with English subtitles. Put GOOD English subtitles in the episodes and there you go! That's what I'm buying, not crappy dubs. I don't mind if there's a DUB on my DVD but I'll just ignore it as long as the DVD is not more expensive because of it.
GoddessOfTheWinds 1 month ago
@uguuerik Just because you like to read your anime or have the ability to understand what is being said doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just think it's rude to those of us who enjoy the dub. I mean, we like Anime because of the story. Most of us couldn't give a shit what the characters sound like. As for cutting costs... that won't happen. I bought Blue Exorcist and Special A (which are only subbed) and they cost more than most of the Dubs.
LifelessVessel 1 month ago
@uguuerik while that's one way to do it, I would definitely miss getting Dubs, especially from FUNimation. Even if you just end up watching the sub, it's always interesting to see someone else's take on the show from another cultural mindset.
AssaulteedOne 1 month ago
I admittedly HATE the DVD sized slipcover with the BD case. I want a BD sized slipcover with it. Other than that, things are looking pretty good.
Now if Funimation would just stop replacing the OP and ED credits with their own. ORIGINAL OP and ED in tact with additional Funimation credits AFTER that is the way to go. Nozomi has it right. Also, subtitles maintaining honorifics would be preferred. Other than that, I do think things are at least moving in the right direction with packaging.
uguuerik 1 month ago
@uguuerik Agreed with the second paragraph!

Princess Jellyfish packagin is pretty! I like it.
Just wondering, is there a reason why Blu-ray cases are shorter, because it seems the discs are the same size as DVDs.
Also, is this the only version or is there DVD-only as well?
MewWolf5 1 month ago
That is the gayest thing I think I have ever seen. You actually think you can shorten the size of the box and use eco-cases and then ask the same amount of money? I don't think so! Until you go back to the DVD size cases I'm going to watch new series online.
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 So you're admittedly going to pirate "licensed" anime because of a 3/4 inch difference in the packaging? OCD much? Just like any person with common sense, Funimation is trying to profit a little more from what little money they already make;eco-case is a reasonable move that shouldn't be criticized over, unless you're THAT OCD. If you think ANY anime distributor is loaded with cash, then go to AnimeNewsNetwork and listen to a few of their podcast episodes to know the truth.
wakazhi 1 month ago

Sadly, I don't know too many people that watch anime legally unless they have netflix.
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi No, I'm not. "lol"
I'm sure alot of people wait for price drops..
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 Despite whether or not most otaku in Japan buy used dvds, that doesn't change the fact that it's a heck of a lot cheaper in the US (except for import releases by Aniplex). In Akihabara, used "manga" is definitely circulated among shops, but I've never heard of it being as frequent with "anime" sold in Japan. I don't have a problem with Aniplex or NIS, otherwise I wouldn't buy their anime; I'm just trying to make a point that your complaints towards Funi are petty excuses.
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi You clearly have not considered that there is a currency value difference and that the amount of money Japanese citizens earn could be more than in the US. Secondly, I feel it is safe to say that the Japanese do not buy as many dvds due to the fact they have dedicated anime channels. So just like here in the US I do not feel willing to buy a showon dvd simply because its on tv, get it? Lastly, they are not excuses, they are satisfaction requirements. If they aren't met I won't buy..
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 According to ANN, anime DVD sales went down 24.4% and anime blu-ray sales went up 31.6% in just the 1st half of 2011, and 57% of blu-rays sold in Japan were anime. The market and consumers' mindset in Japan is different from the US. How most otaku in Japan value anime is different from how most western otaku value it. The otaku in Japan deserve to have high expectations for their $60+ for 2 episodes a case.At the prices we pay, high expectations are unreasonable and unrealistic
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi That is not relevant. "otaku" (as you call them) in America don't have as many options for watching their shows. High expectations my ass, its the same show no matter where its released, the "expectations" are the same. -and- I have already warned you once, no more bullshit comments. Your one more away from persistant and continuous complaint letters to the mod.
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 "otaku (as you call them) in America don't have as many options for watching their shows". Are you that ignorant? The US has Hulu, Crunchyroll, Netflix, Crackel, Funimation website, Nozomi, ANN, TheAnimeNetwork. I've heard so many people outside of the US tell me how they wish they had half of the legal streaming sites (if any) that we have in the US.
wakazhi 1 month ago

In my case, it'd be nice to report this "issue" because if they look at what you ignorantly typed up, you'll just be making a fool out of yourself, lol
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi Actually, if you really did your research you would find that in the terms of service there is nothing about using explicit language. Hate speech, which is listed, refers to racial slurs and other inappropriate terms or saying about culture etc. It also says you should not say anything you wouldn't be willing to say to another persons face directly, and believe me sir, I would say that to your face. An just so your aware there was no hate text towards products on this VIDEO PAGE.E-O-D
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 Where in my message did I type "hate speech". You're confusing it with "hate text" which is "the act of writing and sending disparaging, angry or otherwise hostile text messages". The key words from there in your case are "angry-text-messages", because the average person that receives a message from a sender who's cursing at them and name-calling would assume that the sender is somewhat angry. And you say you didn't criticize aka "hate text towards products on this VIDEO"?
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi I was refering to the terms of service, READ ABOUT IT. Some people just use language in their everyday life as it can become a bad-habit which does not suggest anything more. Really? Your some saint.. The way you toss around the term OCD. Which I find offensive seeing as how I know people who have had it. In fact, that means YOU are in DIRECT violation of the terms of use. (and) Finally, I am allowed to express my opinion towards any product I desire. I called them cheap. E-O-D
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 Sorry if "OCD" really offended you; I call myself OCD when it comes to drawing and coloring for fan art (and sometimes I think it's true, with art that is). But the fact that you brought that up as a way to justify your actions prove your guilt. We both said something unprofessional and insulting one way or another. the end
wakazhi 1 month ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@p38lightning7 Here's what your "hate text" that you typed against Funimation: 1) "FUNimation if you were smart you would make the artbox big enough to hold dvd size cases". 2) "That is the gayest thing I think I have ever seen. You actually think you can shorten the size of the box and use eco-cases and then ask the same amount of money? I don't think so!"
wakazhi 1 month ago
@wakazhi That is in no way hateful. I simply expressed that I thought the design is cheap and it will cause the loss of sales by me, a consumer. It is also notable to point out you chopped up my paragraph and reconstructed it. The part where I said " that is the gayest thing I've ever seen" is not the direct point. What is the point is its pretty obvious your just out to find everything I say wrong and fetch the last word. An really you can have it, its not worth it, but you can have it..
p38lightning7 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 I copied-and-pasted your words from the first word of the sentence to the period, so that's not the same as reconstructing. So you're saying that insulting something that Funi made isn't insulting them directly? wow. Yes, I did try to find what you said because unlike you, I back up what I say with proof. You can "express your opinion" all you want, but if you don't have something reasonable and neutral to back it up other than saying it's cheap, then your opinion is worthless.
wakazhi 1 month ago
@p38lightning7 Hate to break down your argument, but the channels that air this stuff, they air it late at night (Like 2 AM), and re-runs rarely happen. There aren't all that many "dedicated" anime channels. Also, the cost of living in Japan is higher, and according to the CIA world fact book, Japan makes less money than us, they rank in the top 25, us, top 10 IIRC.
CorvetteLover623 1 month ago
@CorvetteLover623 Do not get involved.
p38lightning7 1 month ago

CorvetteLover623 1 month ago 18
@CorvetteLover623 One episode of an anime 60-100 bucks? Don't make me laugh. Imagine the cost of the paper they used to animate, then apply the cost of paint and paper for the back grounds then apply the money for paying the workers... Etc. No an episode will go around $1000 bucks at MINIMUM.
TalentedOrangeTv 1 month ago
@TalentedOrangeTv I'm talking about how much the singles cost...
I know the production costs of anime are at least $100,000 per episode, so it costs like 1.3 million at the least for 13 episodes to be made.

JustTP94 1 month ago
@JustTP94 (Man, feels like I'm on a forum.), the majority of Japanese citizens watch anime? I don't know where you go that from, not even half the population is all that into it (Otaku are looked down upon there.). A survey that was ran recently in Japan polled 1/4 are otaku, not a majority factor. Many can even say anime is a niche market in Japan also. Those singles usually sell a few to a couple thousand copies per volume, not millions like the Call of Duty video games sell.
CorvetteLover623 1 month ago
@CorvetteLover623 I hate Call of Duty for that same reason... anyways... There was a poll that about 80% of the Japanese Population watches Anime, I never said they were of the "Otaku" hardcore anime fans....
JustTP94 1 month ago
@CorvetteLover623 So, for a niche market, I'm saying the prices aren't worth the money... which is why people download the series... (I own 30+ boxsets and have spent over 500$ for the anime industry...).... I'm a valued downloader and Netflix watcher aswell... as long as I stay with anime, I'll buy the series I like (if reasonable) and enjoy the good shows being put out.

Blind buying is fun, but I prefer to really enjoy my purchases these days.
uguuerik 1 month ago
@JustTP94 You must be pretty young to be complaining about the price. In the '90s, $29.99 only got you one VHS tape with 2 episodes on it. Seriously, people should NOT be complaining about how "expensive" anime is these days, because it's not.
Yukimu 1 month ago
@Yukimu Yea. It also doesn't hurt to consider Japanese prices. How about $60 - $90 for 2 or 3 episodes?
Anime is not a thriving industry here or even in Japan. If you love anime like I do then I would say PLEASE SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY. Even if you can only afford a couple series a year. Fine. Maybe watch some legal streams too. Great. Better than watching fansubs and buying NOTHING as a lot of my friends unfortunately do.
uguuerik 1 month ago
@uguuerik Yup, it's never been mainstream here. Plus, it's dying here, Google "Anime Market Pegged" and click on the first result, that's the state of the market here. On ANNCast (The latest one, 1/13), Zac explained some things from 15:00-18:00 on anime prices.
I try to support releases as much as I can here (I even haven't actively bought video games for 3 years. I don't get as many as I used to.), even though I don't have a job. I watch the legal streams, and I buy the DVD's/BD's.
CorvetteLover623 1 month ago
@Yukimu Agreed, even though I'm 17, didn't really get into anime until I was 14, didn't start finally buying until last year (Finally got more money, thank you lawn mowing!). Here's it's not expensive (I mean seriously, complaining about 11-13 episodes of Bleach for $30 at Rightstuf?), in Japan, oh yes. I don't consider even the Madoka LE's expensive or overpriced.
Guess what makes more money people, the Japanese releases despite them being way more money. Cheap gets you only so far.
CorvetteLover623 1 month ago
@Yukimu 100% Agree with you. I remember when I wanted to buy a box set (Sailor Moon for exmaple) It was $20 for 4 episodes or it was $100 for dub episodes ....A Set, and that was 10 or a few years ago. So now the fact that I can now get a box set for 20 or even 50 bucks which might be pretty expensive it most case but in I would rather spend $50 to get Not only a dvd but blu-ray so just in case either of them break i have the other one set...I say we're pretty damn Lucky!
