  • stick to it, and believe in your power!

the power of an awesome soundtrack,

driving you to vaporize the nasty folk

    who spirited away your comrades!

  • @HaystackCaldoon Good comment, though I should mention that the story of this game has the protagonist trying to find her father, which is her main motivation here.

  • @CrossoverGameReviews thank you! I ran across an English translation of the introduction not long after I made that comment and was very glad to know at last what the story really is. :D

  • Man, why is it that Shmups always have the best video game music? it's like the developers want you to get your funk on while blowing shit up.

  • @1shoryuken Mute one and play. Is it the same experience?

  • @FfejTball depends on what shmup it is, if it is M.U.S.H.A. then there is no way l am gonna mute it, that soundtrack gets your adrenaline pumped for its high speed scrolling action.

  • Wow, was Sol Feace (Deace) some kind of remake/ripoff of this then? I've seen plenty of shmups under Sega licenses, and these two are beyond similar. Anyone else notice this?

    "The G C S - W T"

  • I am very proud that purchased this game back at the days it was released.. Cannot describe the feeling when I heard the music on Stage 1, the graphics, thrilling experience. I love my SEGA Mega Drive!

  • @sybnios

yeah this game surely is something the synth guitars sound nice and clean instead of the tf4 mix the music sounds like some of the cleanest on the genesis very melodic, like others but thats only good.

  • One of my favorite games.... only beat by einhander

  • This video is awesome and it is going in my favorites.

  • 4.5 minutes cool anime intro, great soundtrack, nice weapons, good gfx, well done level design, nice color book with spaceship tecnical details.. this game rules! O_O

  • that music in that games are totally awesome

  • Thank you for posting this video featuring a Japan-only shmup & its music.

  • Ok tunes. Music was made for crazy action, which is appropriate for the game, but not my style.

  • I forgot I've already seen this video, but I see someone didn't like my comment. After listening again, the music is pretty good, I just don't like side-scroller flyers that much, probably affected my opinion of the music.

  • its the best video :D

  • Gradius clone woo-hoo!

  • That's not true at all. If anything, it's a Thunder Force clone. It has little in common with Gradius.

The main thing that sets this game apart is the ability to fire in a 360 degree radius at will.

  • Oh. I have never heard of thunder force. Either way this game looks awesome. It has the best music I've heard in a genesis/mega drive game.

  • If you love hard rock/metal, you should go listen to Thunder Force IV. I've yet to hear a better 16-bit synthesized guitar sound if there is one.

Gley Lancer is a very charming game with the adjustable pods, although there could've been done more to put these to the test.

  • thunderforce iv has probably the best soundtrack on the mega drive, as well as being one of the best games on the mega drie!

  • I'd go so far as to say it's better than Gradius, because of managing your options.
