How to setup Gmail on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and have contacts and calendar sync

I created an account and it has a little red 3 by the notifications on mail but when i click on mail, it goes back to the main screen where you can create a new email account. Do you know how i can actually check the emails? Please Respond!

Your talking about the screen where it asks u to pick your email provider right?

That isnt supposed to happen after its been configured.

You could try rebooting the device

If that doesnt work go to Settings> Mail contacts callanders and see if the account shows uo there. If it doesnt display there, try creating it again.

If that doesnt help you I am sorry I dont know what to do, I have never encountered this before. Perhaps you could ask apple?

after syncing if you add a new contact on iphone, is it update in gmail?

@Callocc yes, thats why it is so great... contact sync is both directions and happens instantly or in the background, you dont have to press sync or anything. New contacts, deletions, or changes made on either Gmail or your iDevice will be reflected on both. It is also good if you have multiple devices, such as and iPhone and an iPad, if they are both synced to the same Gmail via microsoft exchange, they will both keep their contact lists up to date

Like does it say something about not being able to verify the account or not letting you save the account?

Or does it accept the configuration, but fail to get your mail?

I wanted to tell you thank you!!! I have about 400 contacts on my phone and as they were synced with gmail due to my old phone being a Droid. So, this process was seamless with my new iPad ;)
