  • God dammit, that was beautiful and powerful and one of the greatest songs ever. I love her so much and was almost fulfilled when I found her a couple months ago. I seen her in person, she was standing right next to me. Five feet from me! and I couldn't bring myself to say two words to her because she is so...magnificent as an artist. And I will always cherish her music.

This woman is a beast in the most respectful and lady-like way possible.

  • her voice and music is priceless, what more could anyone need from music other than the melodic and whimsical way it makes you feel and her music definetly makes me feel like that :)

  • Here voice is like a whisper to me. I like.:)

  • Ok ok , I addmit, I got here after watching OTH , but I knew Rachel's song "Horizon" from a year ago or so, just didn't expect ALL of her songs to be this great *_*

  • makes me think of my ex, neh now I am shedding a tear.

  • Being betrayed sucks. But not as much as being betrayed by your boyfriend/girlfriend.

  • La mejor cancion de rachael

  • oh dear beautiful bloody christ, i've probably played this a hundred times already.

anyone can tell me what album is this song from?

  • @Sum1OverTheRainbow from Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart (2008)

It's almost like an obsession what I have for this song, the devastating hurt and haunting beauty of it is just mesmerizing...

  • I just discovered you today, and I am so happy i found your music. Its like how did I live without your words music and voice before today

  • It hurts to listen to this.

  • I'm not gonna shed one more tear for you. <3

  • this made me bawl my eyes out.

  • Ethereal. It's the only word in the English language that could possibly attempt to explain this song. So provoking and passionate, I actually cried the first time that I heard it.

  • wow how did i miss an artist like this !!! This song was written for me for my life right now. I just want to say your lyrics have spoken to my soul ,,,Consider your cd bought .

  • Great music

  • it make me think..

  • One of my all time favourite songs!!! x

  • rachel's white and japanese....i haven't quite made up my mind what to think of her yet...like tori amos she's a good musician, but her lyrics go way over my head...a bit too esoteric for my taste..., she reminds me in some ways of vienna teng...do you call this chamber pop or orchestral pop?...but her voice keeps me coming back...she definately can sing...

  • shes a female damien rice! I love it!

  • it's not about geography or happenstance..

wow great lyric- what a beautiful video and so sad, but so gorgeous..thanks to whoever posted this one.

  • This reference to Damien Rice is a good one. He needs his old ex back and since it seems they are no longer a possibility, Yamagata could fill the bill, proving that she can sing without him.

  • omigod. Near the end Rachael almost sounded like she was going to cry, so I cried and choked on my ramen noodles.

  • @Thespiriticlan lmfao!!!

  • @m0sas ASDF I did NOT know I go the top comment..and this choking thing seems to happen often :p

  • Powerful!

    The lyrics!

    WOW!

    Excellent Rachael!

  • Rachael Yamagata!! Thanks for the hug! I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!

  • great song..beautiful video...

  • This song is absolutely wonderful.. it's snowing outside as I'm typing this - so matches the mood of this song.... love it.

  • LOVE IT! I AM THERE!

  • What I think I really love about her is that's she not frop dead gorgeus. She stays herself no matter wat. I love her freckles and her hair. They make her real to me instead of just another pretty girl singing.

  • @UnderTheDark14 yeah she is gorgeous! she looks like french

actor beauty, sophie marceau. she just doesn't care bout' werkin'out

en shit like dat! she's beautiful like boxing's pound 4 pound best, manny pacquiao

  • where did you find this version of this song? I have only found the slower version.

  • I first heard another studio recording of this song years ago, before Happenstance, and it is my favorite song still. This version is very beautiful though. And there is a good live video someone recorded where she cries- that's real art. This melodic melancholy music she's putting out now seems more natural and less forced like the poppy stuff on Happenstance. She's so talented. This song brings tears to me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It hits so close to home.

  • @LuxStrangelove aww she cries? i definitely like "elephants...teeth sinking into heart" better than "happenstance". it sounds more mature and yeah, natural. i think she will only get better with time, musically.

  • Tim, hell - it's Janis!

  • Hauntingly familiar of early Tim Buckley...How beautiful is that? Tim came back as a wowman!!!! (misspelling intentional!)

  • wow

  • This song is so rich and significant in a depleted sell out industry. I listen to her as often as say Zeppelin, or Nas, just pure beauty and honesty from an endless girl.

  • this is really one of the best songs ever her music is soo good i cant belive alot of people dont know who she is she has a lovely voice and sings about life not like other famous ppl that only sing about sex and drugs and stupid stufff. shesso real and beautiful i love her!

  • do not equate fame with happiness. she is happy.

  • I love her so much i saw her when she came to dallas tx and i wish she would come back

  • I love her. She deserves so much success. Her music is just so good.

  • "You're scared, cause I feel like home"- best line from anything ever imho. :) I am in love with this album!!!

  • so beautiful, i am in love with this song

  • It's a choice... to stay!

    When you come to Mexico?

I adore your music and your letters!

I hope see you soon :)

  • This song is so amazingly powerful and moving. Best experienced in a low lighted room with a glass of scotch.

Rachael is beautiful and her voice is amazing.

  • @k7of9 i totally agree!

  • Damien Rice and Rachael are interchagable... both good singwriters.

  • to auroral !her time is coming to be recognized as she should be! she is amazing as a song writer, arranger & musician! i don't understand it either!

  • Happy Sunday.......moody music

  • shes amazing!

  • This is the best song in the world

  • What I love about Rachael is that when she's vulnerable, there's a bite and an anger to it - and with that luscious voice of hers, you can't help but stay there, mesmerized, and listen to what she has to say. This is the kind of thing you listen to on a cloudy Sunday afternoon when it's getting dark and the house is quiet. Absolutely epic.

  • As a musician, the Timbre of her voice is something I would love to find in a guitar. Simply amazing. There's sooo much emotion there, her voice makes me feel a million things from my past- I have to describe it as a color somewhere in between a deep blue of the end of a sunset.

  • should either drop that hat or pick up a stout pair of boots and a weighty axe

  • Wow I just discovered her by accident on you tube! Incredible voice!!

  • i first started listening to her yesterday and have listened to nothing else since she is soooo amazing <3

  • Wow...first time listening to this and Im in love! cant get enough of this song! Amazing voice!

  • You Rachael are the greatest musical secret. I pity those who do not know you. I am better just hearing your voice. We should just date, you would love me, lol.

  • this song is way too short

  • this song Devours all of Me totally

  • this song Devours all of Me totally

  • Awesome, *****

  • Hmmm, I'm a huge Cat Power fan and this seems like a step in that direction. How exciting! :D

  • @auroral probably because she's not skanky and stupid acting like many of todays female pop stars..

  • @auroral

Well...because most people have to understand something to enjoy it. Usually. It's the same reason people look at conceptual art, or poetry and say "This sucks...I don't get it."

With education comes understanding, a broadening of horizons.

Unfortunately the mass majority eat up pop music...because it's what they know and understand.

  • @auroral I know! I just discovered her on accident, and I'm wondering how it's even possible that I've never heard of her before?!

  • @auroral thats why she isnt famous. becuase she's so real that people can't handle her. They're just looking for beat and if it Pops.. yep. this is real music

  • @auroral Because her music is so rich and real. Mainstream doesn't want that. xD Sad, but true.

  • @auroral being famous doesnt mean that youre good :$

  • @auroral well... you already answered it.

  • @auroral

imho it's better this way. She doesn't need to be crazy-famous to be appreciated.

She has fans all over the world that truly enjoy her music...

  • @auroral She isn't famous because people like crappy music, this is the real music that is only knowk among people who have a good taste in it, not some crappy Bieber or GaGa or Whoreianna.

  • @auroral good music doesn't always mean pop music :)

  • @auroral songs arent catchy. they are more laid back and sit down and think type music. i love em tho

  • @auroral Because people are brainwashed with horrible music in today's society.

  • @auroral You just answered your own question.

  • @auroral that's why she isn't. world likes plastic.

  • love love love it....kind of haunting and fragile yet strong....strange.

  • Haunting was the word I was looking for!

  • simply gorgeous. beautiful. Whoever shot this video did a brilliant job!

  • I am French. I discovered your songs thanks to an American friend. She said I could like and I LOVE. Really... Thank you. Keep on to sing, you make my life better.

  • I love your music...I've got you up there with Damien Rice and Ray LaMontagne, the honesty of your lyrics and your beautiful voice makes my day every time I listen to your music. Thanks!

  • @Caracucb That's so funny - Those are two of my biggest favorites & I found her about the same time as I found Damien & Ray.
