  • you people notice the TRIANGLE ! DER !!!

  • The Oil companies strike again.

  • We actually have the technology to record every depleted uranium round ever fired from a tank or gun so that they could be retrieved for the sake of safety.

  • Yeah...we really should stay away from uranium.....iTS not actually a neccessity.

  • the waste is not radiactive material, it uranium 238 which is the more stable form of uranium. in natural uranium there is alot of nonfissonable uranium (238) and very little fissonable (235) so the waste is not radiactive as they would like you to believe. Now, if you talk plutonium, that a differnt story. But thats usally used for weapons.

  • There's so much volume in the earth to put that waste that its not a problem.

  • This vid is way off. The weight & density of "U" is pretty high so showing all those cars doesnt equal up. This isnt coal we are talking about here this is very heavy material, so a ton of "U" isn't going to fill as many cars as a ton of coal. Oh & by the way nuclear power doesnt put any "U" into our air; but guess what does. Coal, coal contains small amounts of "U" & when burnt it will carry & disperse the radioactive material with it. It is much worse to breath than to ever touch or be near.

  • yeah the exhaust you see coming out of the towers at a Nuclear Power Plant is accually to water used to produce the power cooling down

  • World March for Peace and NonViolence!

    Look it up!

  • You dont want waste. Simple recycle the waste............Wheres your argument now greens?

  • i quote "no uranium, no weapons, no waste". well radioactive waste is actually pretty good compared to the megatons of carbon emissions each year as radioactive waste can be stored relatively safely with our current technology unlike carbon waste which is expelled directly into the atmosphere.

  • Originally Atomic power plants were built to produce Plutonium. History clearly proves that and still proves today: Iran.

When people tell you they were built to produce electricity or radio isotopes in the first place - they lie. On August 22nd 2008 radioactive Iodine 131 was released into the environment from the Belgian factory in Fleurus. The factory is part of the manufacturer IRE - worlds 2nd important producer of radio isotopes. People were informed about this one week after.

  • So biased.. come on you hippies! Without nuclear power what would we do?.... Got a better idea? Fossil fuels cant be conatined unlike radioactive waste, which can be reprocessed. You obviously haven't looked into nuclear power.

  • yet 75 tone of unranium can power every nuclear power plant in american for a years.

Its that or fosil feul which produces 900000000000 tones of CO2 per year.

  • The majority of you people are nuts. Anything with a half life as great as uranium should have never been developed, When you all come up with away to eradicate the power of the greedy corporations that have surpressed energy resourses then we will have something. War is only around because of greed and control, don't fool yourself into this freedom crap.

  • Uranium wasn't "developed"; it's a naturally occurring metal. Don't blame war on its presence: people will kill each other anyway.

  • Uhm, you realise that uranium allready exists right? building nuclear powerplants and creating nuclear waste doesn't actually change anything about the amount of radioactive material on earth.

If anything, it reduces background radiation because the uranium that used to be near the surface will now be stored in deep storage facilities.

  • @amandarandom89

    What about Breeder Reactors?

  • another uneducated self-appointed know-it all, using 40 year old information.

  • boo hoo... this video is so out dated and mis leading!

  • lol, only one statement, and no evidence...

  • the earth has enough natural recourses for energy for every living sole on this planet. e.g sun, wind turbines, dams, waves in the ocean.

there is just more money to be made in other forms of energy

  • Soon you will have "Big Wind" and "Big Solar" running things with "Big Ag" running the bio fuel racket. Nothing will change.

  • Bullshit do you know how many subsidies wind, dams and solar have gotten over the years. Surely the most uneducated response yet.

  • not anymore they wont

  • everyone who opposes nuclear investments should not get any treatment at hospitals. Save medical isotopes for those who appreciate it.

  • I think that the most important thing we should do isn't getting more "clean" energy, but rather reduce our energy consumption. We all have huge flats or houses we heat, mass electronic useless stuff and so on...

  • Well i doubt that the Uranium were exporting is used primarily for the development of nuclear weapons! We'd know better then to sell sell sell! We'd check them and ask why!

Nuclear waste...... nowadays we've found out how to extract the last of that precious 235 out of those depleted uranium stock piles! we can use that as fuel!

  • this video is over rated, uranium would be a good energy source no co2 emissions, cheaper power.

  • 666 tonnes? Satan's ore! MAD makes war too dangerous for anyone but suicidal maniacs, so unused nukes might be saving lives.

  • Well, it does create waste in the form of tailings, those are essentially just rocks that did'nt have enough uranium to be worthwhile to process. They were there in the ground before, just put them back.

  • its called space, and eventuly the sun.

  • where are the facts?

  • haha, get a nuclear physics, they will tell you its a good energy source.

  • i support this so much im learn =ing about uraniam and im not liking it one bit

  • na ur not, otherwise you'd know the very good benefits about U 235

  • how can you make 1 ton into 666tons?(oh scare tactic number)

  • Every substance known to man is a poison, it's the amount that we are exposed to that determines its potency. For example, water is a poison. Too much of it and it dilutes the salt in our blood.

  • Idiots. Where do you think Uranium comes from? The earth! More natural sources of radioactive material in the earth than we could ever mine.

  • Very ture but Souldn't be makeing more of it.

  • mrjustin5. that "waste" is waste only because of a lack of political will. So called "depleted" uranium can be used in breeder reactors to make plutonium and also to fuel thorium/uranium reactors. But, let's just kill off 9/10ths of the earth.. no good? No malthusian solutions? Ok. Lets cover the US from sea to sea with solar and wind power machines (well, I'll give you the *CURRENT* needs could be met with 80% coverage). Oh, don't want that? Then what are the citizens to do for jobs? Hmmm..

  • Get real you so called greenies, the power output of uranium can't be matched 666 tonnes is nothing compared to the fact that coal or other sources would be probably make millions of tonnes of CO2 and other byproducts when compared to kilowatt/hours output per tonne. Greenies are the biggest hippocrites .

  • theres no facts in your comment seve

  • Is the "666 tons of radioactive waste" a made up number or did you actually research it? As for uranium, I do believe it to be the power of the future. The only reason we have problems is because of human error. That is the sole reason of nuclear disasters.

  • hmm can you telle me, how we "eliminate" the human error?

  • Cherylnobyl happened because a human operator pulled one of the stabilizing rods out to far and the reactor went into a melt down, nowadays a computer controls the stablilizing rods

  • you are making it seem simpler than it really was.

The reactor had to be shut off to replace the fuel rods but someone decided to try the "emergency cooling system" and a design flaw followed by some human error allowed all hell to break loose.

  • This is the most horrid crap on planet earth. Once they have those 666 tonnes of radioactive waste (what a number, huh?) - they use it as a weapon. Its known as "Depleted Uranium" and is a byproduct (waste) of the enrichment process. It is actual MORE radioactive than out-of-the-ground uranium, so calling it "depleted" or "weakly" radioactive is a misnomer. Saying Nuclear energy is the power of the future is completely idiotic. We must stop this 4.5 BILLION YEAR GENOCIDE operation!

  • Uranium is a natural element that is present pretty much everywhere in the Earth's crust, so you can't really get away from it. Even if you do, you will still be hit by radiation from other sources. Nuclear Energy is the power of the future!:) People just have the horrible habit of associating uranium (and anything that has the words Nuclear, atomic, fusion, fission and so on...)immediately with nuclear warheads, death and Chernobyl. Nuclear energy is extremely safe if handled properly.

  • Is uranium radioactive right out of the earth?

  • Uranium ore is naturally radioactive, yes.

  • yes, it is

  • what about molten uranium being exploded into a fine dust is that safe?

  • instead of shooting it into space shoot it into the sun

  • it would disintegrate half way there. Better yet why not sink it in the ocean. ;)

  • when it´s disintegrated, it´s away... so why not

  • disintegrate means to rip apart, not to vanish completely.

  • man just shoot the waste into space dang

  • It takes a lot of energy to shoot things into space. Once it's in orbit, it will eventually fall back to earth. I don't want high level waste falling all over my neighborhood (or planet)

  • You can post many videos as you can, but it wont stop any country grom nuclear racing.

  • we got bigger worries den uranium....like...ooo say GLOBAL WARMING

  • If all electric production was converted to nuclear power, the uranium would run out in 3-4 years. Do yourself a favor, please read about "peak uranium".

  • Looks like this video is attracting all the pro Uranium PR firms in the comments - and aren't they eager. I'll look seriously at Nuclear power the minute someone tells me how we are going to deal with the waste. In the real world, nothing has worked so far. In a theoretical world...dream on but solar is safer

  • Look at the superphoenix power plant in France, it has been closed by the green parti about 10 years ago ...

That was a way to deal with the wastes.

  • Why don't you check your "facts". Superfenix was not closed by the green party. It was closed because it was an economic disaster.

Breeder reactors in addition to making a relatively small amount of plutonium, still produce lots of spent fuel waste. Why don't you read up about the maximum breeding ratio. You will find out that breeders can't make very much fuel over what they consume.

Wastes can be "recycled" using a process called "PUREX". It's prohibitively expensive.

  • Superphenix was not closed by the green party. It was closed by the French Power company after running it for 10 years because it was extremely uneconomical. It never got near its design output. It was plagued with corrosion problems and leaks from the liquid sodium coolant.

  • Total crap. What about the two million tonnes of ash from a coal fired plant which is much more radioactive from isotopes that leaked into the coal. This anti nuke hysteria is why I can't support the greens. Enviromentalist for nuclear power is the way to go

  • I don't think the Greens support coal fired plants either

  • Where are you going to get all the uranium from? Like oil, it's a finite source of energy. It's not renewable, it's not clean, it's not energy efficient. In fact, the radioactive isotopes in coal are much less of a problem than wars spreading DU (depleated uranium) all over the country side. The process of "burning" uranium in a reactor makes isotopes that are much more radioactive than the ones in coal. Why don't you check your facts.

  • neuclear fission-not combusting.

  • I think that's what HiTek meant by putting "burning" in quotes.

  • Horrible commercial. You could also use uranium to fuel nuclear reactors and then recycle it like the french are doing.Third generation reactors are highly efficient and safe. This technology could help us be more energy independent and help reduce CO2 emissions.

  • CO2 emissions rise using nuclear power: once the 0.1 % of uranium that is high grade is used up, low grade will be used; to obtain 1 kilogram of yellowcake at least 10 metric tons of ore will be mined and milled, using fossil fuels and emitting substantial quantities of CO2; comparable with emissions from gas-fired power stations.

If all the existing fossil fuel power stations were replaced by nuclear, there would only be enough uranium for 3-4 years.

  • Most mines are already working on 0.05-0.01 grade. The amount of tailings become more and more. This means the amount of mining to get a specific amount of yellowcake is more and more. Mining requires a lot of fossil fuels (Diesel).

  • Very good Video. I love how gentle the music is and the truth it holds. Thank you so much for spreading the truth about the waste that comes from Uranium.

    Cheers! Kelly

  • If you had a democracy which clearly you don`t you would presumably vote not to be "dumped upon".

There are as far as I am aware no such persons as "Australia Haters".There are "country" users" such as large global corporate companies that will dump "shite" on you if your government is stupid enough or greedy enough to allow them in for cash ! Sometimes very little cash will do as long as it goes into the right pockets.

  • Hopefully that will not happen. Here or in America!

We do have a Democracy - However, Now is the time for Change!

    Cheers!

  • America is NOT a Democracy. It is a Republic. Read the Constitution. Thank You.

  • re: Australia haters - I was more referring to the people within Australia that seem so committed to making us the nuclear garbage dump of the world. Stupid greedy governments would be the first in my list of such people.

  • And I sincerely hope this ad gets a really good run in the mainstream media leading up to the election next time. It's not exactly 'extreme' and it doesn't resort to the kind of negative minor-party bashing that all of the other parties revel in. It might just cut thru!

  • In this whole nukular debate at the moment, no one has even thought about the waste! (Except the Australia-haters that want us to be the radioactive garbage dump of the world) I am extremely concerned.

  • Accualy, Uranium should never be used as Weapons i agree with that. but i disagree about the usage of uranium because people should Learn how to use Uranium to help Humanity and Not to Distroy others. Uranium has over 120 Uses but people arent using it for the good of man kind these days which is should of been used for that. i collect minerals and uranium minerals, thats how i understand the concepts.

  • I agree with you completely - after all we will always need nuclear medicine. That's also why we shouldn't waste it so we can burn every light in the house and get an even bigger-screen TV.

  • The only political party in Australia that truely stands up for what they believe in.
