great cover. Except i would try adjust the bass down a little and uping the treble. it sounds like the amp is blasting a bit and covering up the bass notes
Nice job. You stayed in the pocket the whole time. Staying in the pocket goes beyond keeping it tight with the metronome. It's something that is felt. You're impressive to be self taught. The last couple of years I've been doing the self taught thing too on sax. Greatness comes from mastering the fundamentals. I try to stick to what my music teachers taught me back in the day and it truly makes a difference. Keep doing your thing. Listen to everything you hear and feel it inside. Peace.
I have studied Nathan Watts and am an acomplished real deal bass player. You have worked hard on the finger ,note work. What you need is the plucking style and the elephant growl, and you need much work on that.
Nice Stingray, it goes perfect with this era of music. Few people realize that the Stingray is actually a Leo Fender / Tom Walker / Sterling Ball designed instrument they produced while CBS was destroying the original "Fender" company Leo built. Leo was a silent partner due to a no compete clause in the contract of the sale between Fender and CBS but later became president of MusicMan when the contract expired in the mid 70's. The MusicMan is much more of a Fender than the Fenders.
@preo2 I guess the tongue-in-cheek is lost in the typing alright but come on!! - its the most obvious sarcastic comment and a quite clearly a huge compliment to her playing!!! Take a chill pill and work it out ! ;-)
@Honda599Girl Its funny when people judge by the way something looks rather than listening isnt haha Well done though, never see many female bass players round here in MS, they usually just pose with the bass not play, well done, i have my own version of this, a fake version that i use when playin gigs
Having not read all your comments here.. question for you. Have you always played the bass, or did you start on cello? Just something about the left hands precision that seems like more classical instrument training. Nice job nonetheless!
@Honda599Girl no kidding you're self taught too? how long have you been playing? oh and yes, you're amazing. and yea, this bass line is relentless, this is the first bass cover ive seen of the song; i tried learning it by ear. kinda hard. anyways, even tho other people say you're expressionless, i see you bobbin your head to the music, and really that's all you need to groove. gotta have the groove to play the funk, and i gotta say, you got the groove :)))
wow! i really like your feel of your playing, love ur right hand technique, im learning this song at the moment, im doing it by ear so yeah lol. very nicely done! great job
It took you to about 0.50 to forget you were recording and get into the groove, but after that you smoked it!! I loved watching your fingers just spider all over the fretboard lol. Good work.
Any bass player that can sit in the pocket on a Stevie tune is the sh*t in my book! Honda599Girl is no exception! Excellent work! Do you play live with anyone?? I'd be down to check you out!
I think you're playing is good (for a woman - just had to throw that in somewhere) but I didn't much like the tone, you may be overdoing it on the bass setting which sometimes sounds great for achieving a nice smooth sound but when it comes to recording the sound of the bass is ruined due to the compression.
@IchHasseDasSausage For a Woman?? What the hell is that supposed to mean asshole? People like you make me sick, it's a damn fine cover if you ask me, I couldn't see any faults, you're just an over-critical sexist who can't see anyone elses talents because you've got your head shoved too far up your own arse!
