@arelouse I think it's like drugs. people inject themselves using needles etc. Cus he's essentially a tv, the most unoffensive way of showing that, is plugging something into him. The cables = A needle/syringe the vcr = the drug.

The vcr is a distorted tape, the 3 cables give the tv access to the "info" on the blank/distorted/ ripped tape, and he's hit "input" on the remote, thus entirely switching from full control over his body to a faulty tape
